  1. What?   Does this mean we'll never see you in Memphis again? I definitely did not buy enough the last time you were here.     I think all we get here are  RK shows.
  2. I renewed 2 weeks ago and had to have a new picture also, along with a 90 min wait to pay my $50.
  3. Also go here http://www.nfatca.org/ to see their response to being called out as the petitioner for this rule change.
  4. MEC 9000 Seriously, "roll your own" if you are going to shoot trap and skeet.
  5. I doubt I will ever part with mine.
  6.     Ditto for me.    I could understand it if I was getting to the store late and 25 people in front of me bought up everything, but it makes no sense that when Walmart (as I've seen with my own eyes) opens up their shipment of ammo and inside is one lousy box of 525 rounds for the whole store.
  7. I was in  WallyWorld last weekend when they opened up the shipment at 8 am, the guy who had been standing in line since 7 am, got the single, only box of 22LR in the shipment.  One lousy box!    I sometimes wonder if the government has convinced the manufacturers to slow down production for personal use if they want to keep their government contracts.   On a positive note, I stopped by a different walmart the other evening and found 3 boxes of 22 mag on the shelf and one box shoved behind the 17 caliber.  After I got the 3, I told the clerk no one would want to buy just the one, so she was nice enough to let me have the fourth also.   Seawash
  8. Glad I saw this.  I checked and, yep, I'm on it.  The good news is that by checking, it reminded me I need to renew this year.
  9.   We should be banning hammers and clubs, not to mention the personal sale of hammers and clubs between individuals.    You should only be allowed one hammer in your lifetime, unless you bring it to the store and prove it's broken for a replacement.    You cannot have more than one replacement handle or head in your possession, nor can you have one of each, as this would be "constructive possession", because federal law would define owning a complete hammer or club "in disassembled form" to be owning the complete hammer or club.
  10.   David,   Are you going to be at the Memphis show Dec 22/23?  I did not buy enough last time you were in town.   Seawash
  11. Sorry forr the late reply. The roller came off of the treadmill. It had a bad bearing and I replaced the back roller a couple of years ago and kept the old roller around; I knew I would have a use for it. The center rod has a threaded hole thru it on each end, so that's what the bolts in the brackets are for, I use them to true up the pvc drum with the belt. The brackets are those hurricane/2x4 tie down strap things you get at home depot or lowes; these were less than a buck a piece or so. It's 6 in PVC and 19 inches long; it gives me a little over 2 gallons (vol = "pi" x "radius squared" x "hieght"). That run was 10 lbs of SS media and a little over 900 cases (9mm). It wieghs quite a bit when loaded up, but not close to what I weigh and the treadmill can handle me. You can set the speed and forget it. If you really want to give your Br-ass a work out, you can even set the incline higher. LOL Good luck
  12. Stopped by David's table today and picked up some bullets and jumped on his primer deal. Great guy to deal with and fantastic selection. If the stamp doesn't wash off my wrist, I may have to go back tomorrow and get some powder.
  13. I believe he'll be at the Agricenter tomorrow, if so he's my list of "must see" tomorrow .
  14. Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. With the variation in bullet length, I just wanted to make sure that this was not out of line. I've seen posts on Al Gore's internet, that your COL variance shouldn't be more than .001, but my bullets vary by .008 so I don't see how I can get that to .001.
  15. All, thanks for the input. For the record, all primers were below flush and as this was my first attempt, I went slow and methodical- or as my wife tells me I was being anal. I don't think i was short stroking the lever either.
  16. This is my first attempt reloading brass. I did a small batch of 50, 9mm: 25 at COL 1.140 and 25 at 1.145. Equipment used was Hornady Lnl AP with Lee 4 Die set (seat and crimp separately). Did not use as “Progressiveâ€, I ran the brass in batches thru each die separately. Brass was not measured but all was Winchester. Bullets were Hornady 9mm 115 gn FMJ/RN ordered in bulk from mainstream supplier. When I measured each round from base to tip, I discovered a wide variation in COL. I thought I screwed up, so I checked my caliper against another one, sorted the rounds by size, removed the die, set everything up again with a round that equaled 1.140 COL and reran 25. I did the same for the next 25 at 1.145. I ended up with the same variation. I did a Google search and discovered that due to variation in bullet manufacture some difference in COL would be expected, especially if measuring from base to tip. For the 1.140 batch, the COL ranged from 1.136 to 1.144. For the 1.145 batch, the COL ranged from 1.145 to 1.147. I then grabbed a handful of bullets (125 out of a box of 500) and measured them. From base to tip, they ranged from .546 to .554, the most common size was .552 at only 31%. I have no idea if base to ogive is consistent, as I have no way to measure that. Is this much variation in bullet size common or did I just have bad luck and end up with a box of misfits? If bullets vary that much, and seating bullets deeper can lead to increased pressure, how are you supposed to follow a published recipe with a COL of 1.100, or 1.140, etc.? Is it safe to assume that each bullet is seated to the same depth (from base to ogive) and the variation is only due to differences in the length of the tip? Thanks Seawash
  17. I'm new to reloading brass and decided to go the SS media route. I got most of my build ideas from ARFCOM. I did buy some walnut shell media to try out and thought it was dusty. I figured puring some dirty water down the drain and laying out the brass to dry was a better way to go, at least for me. Here are some pics of my set up. This is 900 9mm cases.
  18. I’m a newbie to this cartridge reloading and am looking for input. I recently got a press, been stockpiling my brass, have powder, bullets, manuals, and primers. I reload shotgun and usually reload when I have about 1000-1500 hulls in the empty bin. I plan on processing the brass in batches of about 1000-1500 empty 9mm, or 45, or 223 at a time also. As I see it, I have the following options. Corncob/Walnut with Vibratory Tumbler- Pretty standard set up, used by many reloaders, for many years. Tumbler will cost approximately $50-$150 depending on brand and size. Media is fairly cheap. Stainless steel and Rotary Tumbler- Reloaders that have switched to this method claim they would never go back to CC/Walnut, it’s the cat’s meow, best thing they’ve ever done. Cleaner/brighter brass, less dust, etc. You also have to dry the brass afterwards. Initial costs are definitely higher. Rotary Tumbler will cost approximately $180 - $300, and SS media about $50/5lbs. This will hold about 15 lbs of media/brass/water. Given the relatively low cost of the small electric cement mixer from Harbor Freight or Northern Tools ($150), why not use a cement mixer with stainless media for wet processing or Corncob/Walnut for dry processing? Can this be scaled down to accommodate only 1000-1500 cases? I’m actually thinking of removing the cement drum and attaching some type of PVC drum like they are using on the rotary tumblers; haven’t figured out how to do this yet or come up with plans. For someone starting out fresh, should I skip the CornCob/Walnut and go straight to SS media? Why not just use or convert an electric cement mixer ($150) instead of buying a rock tumbler ($200-$300)? Will an electric cement mixer motor burn out, or turn too slow? Have I missed something? Thanks Seawash
  19. I've already filled out the paper work for my free 500 bullets; just wish I could mix and match. BTW- Great shipping from Graf&sons. Order placed 10 pm on 12/15, received complete order on 12/19. Seawash
  20. Thanks guys. It seems like most people have multiple brands. I'll start with the Lee 4 die set in 45 and 9 and go from there. Seawash
  21. Hey everyone I'm getting set up to load and need recommendations for dies to go with Hornady LNL AP. It's too late to get into the dillon vs hornady debate: I saw this "Graf & Sons - HRN PRESS LOCK-N-LOAD AP WITH CASE PREP ASSISTANT" in the previous thread and my wife purchased it for xmas. it's a done deal for me. I've been relading 12 guage for a couple of years (1000 rounds every 3-4 months) on a progressive MEC but have never reloaded brass. I know enough to be methodical and pay attention, but will have much to learn. In terms of volume and starting out, I would be reloading .45 and 9mm for handgun and .223 for rifle. Other calibers would be 30-06, .270 and 7mm. Are there any real differences between dies from different mfgs that would make one better than the other or, is it mostly a preference? Any issues with buying used vs new? Recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Seawash
  22. I'm looking forward to stopping by.
  23. You got it. If you are going North take a left. I picked up some CD in 9 and 45.
