  1. I have a set amount of guns that are off limits for whatever reason, personal or heirlooms etc.  Then i have a few guns that i trade in and out of on a regular basis.  Just depends on what the flavor of the month is for me at that time.  I rarely sell unless there is one for sell i can aquire immediately after the transaction.  I have a set amount of guns and if i sell for cash i end up spending on something else sometimes.  That is my reasoning for trade only ususally.
  2. The problem I am running into here is the good ole boy system, they can scan the day before the bar codes and know what is coming in,  They then call their families and friends and they are there waiting to purchase the ammo.  Guess that is the beauty of working at wal mart.  Never thought there was a beauty in it but i guess that would be it right now.
  3. This is the same platfrom that the "BABY" Eagle and the Jericho is on.  I have no experience with the EAA/Tanfoglio but the eagles are built like a brick $hit house and i have owned a jericho and b eagle 2.  No complaints with the guns at all.  As far as worth i would say 450-525 range depending on condition.  Usually that platform goes from 350-500 used depending on the caliber.
  4. on armslist in nashville 360 bucks wont be there long -- Not a horrible price considering the mega packs (250) are going for 120 dollars here --- if i was closer -- ohh well
  5. I stopped watching NAPCAR when they changed the tire compounds in the late 90's I mean you really expect me to believe that any 20 year old is a better race car driver than Jeff Burton, Gordon, JR, Stewart or any of these cats that have been driving for years? It's all about the car now, driving skill means squat. Davey Allson is rolling over in his grave at the new WWN. Hell I used to at least go to the Bristol night race every year....but the chase has ruined that. They are scared to breathe on each other.
  6. Parrothead I'll take you up on that for sure.
  7. i sent you a pm to a .40 for sale in Johnson City ... $575 -- reasonable considering
  8. Ours is private -- record number of new members though -- 87 last month alone which is more than joined all of last year.  Next topic at our meeting is stricter requirements to join,,,what those might be who knows right now. My suggestion is pass a proficency test.  We will see.
  9. I think its the mentality of people these days -- the know it all or ignorence is bliss strategy.  Only problem here is it will get someone killed.
  10. My whole thing is we live in an age where everyone watches a few episodes of TAC TV and all of a sudden they are an expert.  Go be an expert riding dirt bikes or skateboards.  YOU CAN NOT be an expert shooter overnight.  But yet it seems people suddenly think they are after reading Combat Handgunnery or a few issues of Soldier of Fortune.  Its a little unnerving.  Im afraid we are just tipping the barrell for range accidents that will fuel the fire for LIBs.
  11. I took my boss to the range the other day to train him on basic firearms usage.  He had an incident at his home a few weeks ago and it convinced him he needed to get some protection.  Anyway we pull up to the range and a long time shooting buddy of mine was there along with the biggest crowd I have ever seen.   My buddy says come here a minute, so my boss and I head over to talk to him.  He says stand back here and watch for a few minutes.  We had postitioned ourselves behind the firing line caddy corner to the range where we could see everything that was going on.  What i witnessed there over the next 15 minutes was something in all of my years (33) of shooting that was unprecendented.    First thing I saw was a nice looking family of five, a daughter maybe 15, a son maybe 10, the daughters boyfriend the mom and the dad.  The 10 year old or so was shooting a single shot .410 straight into the ground 5 feet in front of him at a mud hole.  Then he handed it over to the mother so she could take her turn.  She attempted to fire the weapon and nothing. She then turned to her husband perpendicularly swingin the barrel down the firing line and gestured as if to say it didnt fire.  He then looked at it while the gun was pointing across the range and pulled the hammer back -- while pointing across the range and handed it back to her.  My buddy and I immediately called them on it.  The father got an attitude and stated he had been shotting all his life blaaa blaaa........anyway next incident   A younger kid was shotting a PX4 and shot a hole throught the roof.  I looked at my boss and said we will come back another time.  After talking with with the president of the range we are going to have to install range officers now or no shooting it looks like.  Anyway moral of the story there are lot of new people that have never fired a gun before that are buying Glocks, Xp's etc.       BE CAREFUL and do not take anything for granted.....watch before you shoot.     An indoor range near here a women shot her boyfriend (a instructor, LEO and former military)  when the hot brass went down her shirt......     Its a different age now, and some of us are not giving the LIBS water for the fire.
  12. Why they should enforce the 3 second rule more often.. To be honest i am surprised that we dont see a lot more of this due to people tailgating.  Kudos for some good SA and driving on the LEO's part.
  13. There was a shield in 9 at blue ridge in gray tn the other day.  I checked it out -- looked solid and felt good also
  14.         I agree and am much the traditionalist when it comes to this,,, however for what i am using this gun for it might lose that factory finish very quck like..... and on top of that Tarus isnt known for their top quality factory finishes......     will let you all know how this turns out -- should have it back in a few weeks.
  15. Im going to give it a shot with Jims in Wautauga.  That guy does some really good work, and since I was able to help him sell 2 guns and a laser he gave me a really good deal.  Not much more than attempting it myself.  Like I said its a boat/car gun so if something goes wrong ohh well some of you told me so.  I will post the results in a few weeks when i get the slide back.    Thanks for your responses.......
  16. There is a store in the tricites that does a great job duracoating weapons.  I am thinking about duracoating this taurus i aquired in a trade recently.  The blue is fine but for a gun fired as little as this one the blue is worn a little more than I think it should be.  Anyway that aside, Is duracoating a good way to go for a gun that i will carry primarily in the car and on boats etc, basically i dont want to say junk gun because it seems to be a fine firearm but i dont want to take my colts etc on the water and camping trips anymore.  I have never owned a duracoated firearm but have seen some and i do like the matte finish.  Any ideas, suggestions, hatemail, etc?
