Executive Order Plans
Well, it doesn't get much more in-your-face than that, I reckon. "Kind of mad", LOL. - OS
He seems a little pissed -
Executive Order Plans
Independent_shooter replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The way I read it was that it would carry a stiffer penalty than is currently being enforced. Again, I can't find the article...but I didn't see any of the headline hot button issues being considered. I'm not saying that they aren't, I was just wondering if anyone knew of any specifics. -
Executive Order Plans

I posted this in the wrong thread...one of the linked threads above. The article that I read earlier today indicated that the only items up for executive action related to enforcement of current laws (ie lying on background check app will be punished). Now I can't locate this article, not that it was from a "source". That the more serious issues (black rifle ban - refuse to refer use their term, mag capacity, background check at gun shows, etc.) are going through the deliberation then legislative process. Is there anything that details what they are considering under the executive action? I don't want to downplay the attack our rights are under. However, I do think going through the legislative process would be a tough road to hoe; given that there are alot of NRA card carrying people on both sides of the aisle. I'm having a hard time sifting through the hysteria vs. what is real; again no doubt the lib media and tree huggers are trying as best they can to rid the world of firearms...I've just tried not to jump on the wagon and pay the $ to buy some of the guns I'm in the market for. I've tried to not participate in driving the prices where they are, neither on the buying or selling side (now I've sold some things for reasonable prices, and can't buy what I want). -

Thanks peejman, just fought this message after returning from my daughter's spring break...out your way in Townsend. I'll try the work email...I checked today (3 weeks and still no access). I can't wait to go out to my land and shoot the rifle this weekend.

Spoke with a representative @ DSA (real nice and helpfull). Apparently, the rifle was built in 1999 SA58 light weight with a 16" barrel. Apparently it is a CA model that has been converted (it has a detachable mag), pistol grip, etc. Still can't get access to fal files, been 2 weeks since I signed up and still haven't been approved by a mod. Anyway, the rifle appears to be unfired...if it has been fired it doesn't show.

By the way, if anyone knows of someone in the murfreesboro area with the tools to replace a muzzle break. I have the FAL and Sig 556R that I want to replace. I don't have a barrel vise and torch and think that it may be cheaper to have someone replace who has these tools.
-
Thanks guys. I signed up for that forum about a week ago and am still waiting for a mod to approve me. I figured my TGO bethren would know. I have an email into DSA.m I wanted to also verify that mine isn't subject to the recent recall before shooting it. I figured it was factory, I haven't seen any STGs with the shortened gas system. I can't wait to shoot this thing.

I finally found a 16.25" DSA SA58 with the shortened gas system. I bought it off of gunbroker. Is there a way to verify that it is in fact an SA58 and not STG? The build seems quality (from my little experience, actually no experience) with FALs. Also, any tips on replacing the flash hider? Thanks!

Thanks for all the good info. I'll try to figure out how to get some pics uploaded. @ parrothead, it looks just like the one in your avatar.

My dad is considering selling his Dan Wesson 357, he bought new in 1979 and has only put a box through it. It has spent most of it's time in the brown hard case it came in (which looks likes mini briefcase). It is a complete set with a 2,4,6,8" barrels, barrel changing tools. And includes the regular and commando grips. The only thing missing is that he said it came with a belt buckle, I can'tfind a good comparison for price, the majority of the sets I see don't have all 4barrels, and from what I can tell...the 2"is rather rare. Anyone have an idea what the value of this set is? Thanks!

I have a spike's tactical and really like it. I had one of the Barrett guys look it over and he thought that the quality looked good. I'm able to hit the target at 300yds, and I am just getting started in mid-range shooting. Good luck

Mounting a rail to handguard on AR15
Independent_shooter replied to Independent_shooter's topic in Long Guns
The brand is a barska...I finally figured out how to install last night (realized I couldn't hold down the ring and pull apart, so had the wife lend a hand). Not sure if it will hold up, probably will spring for a quad rail, I don't think the screws will hold up during shooting (maybe a little loctite). Thanks for the help! -
Alright, let me begin by saying I am mechanically challenged...and this probably isn't that difficult. I ordered a el-cheapo rail to attach to my handguard so that I could mount a combination bi-pod/vertical grip. It only has a few screws etc., but I can't figure out how to install it on my handguard...any suggestions...didn't come with directions. This is the last piece to having my AR ready for action...just installed the Millett DMS / Burris P.E.P.R. mount. Thanks!

Spike's sent me some anti-walk pins...they work beautifully. Spike's customer service was top notch...and so is Terry Walden. I will definately continue to do business with both.

So I took my new Spikes Tactical gun to the range yesterday (Terry Walden's out in Manchester), other than a magazine at On Target earlier in the week this was the first trip out. I couldn't make it through a magazine without having "light strikes". There was a guy shooting his FNAR .308 carbine (man his set-up was sweet) and he said I should have Terry look at it. I took it over to Terry's shop and he noticed that a pin above the trigger housing was "working itself out", he hammered it back in, went to the range and fired off 2 magazines with 1 light strike. Sure enough the pin was working itself out again, I had to leave it with Terry (really don't want to have to ship it off for who knows how long). Man it's frustrating to have a new gun not go "bang" everytime you pull the trigger.

Thanks guys for the info. I think I am going to try out the Manchester range. I shot the AR at On Target (and I think rifle shooting may have replaced my love for pistol shooting), but I really want to test if farther than 25 yards. I bought a cheap red/green dot that I want to zero...before I start spending the big bucks on optics

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I ran across this when searching for a rifle range to shoot my soon to arrive AR. At the risk of sounding absolutely ignorant, which I guess is better safe than sorry...but in an un supervised shooting environment how does one secure a target down range without risking getting shot by a round from another shooter? Is there a pause in shooting for people to place targets etc? Thanks!

I'm having the same dilema, I'm wanting to get started with rifles...and want something where the ammo is relatively cheap yet the gun is versatile...not interested in just a 22lr

Independent_shooter replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I'm spending alot on ammo, 9MM and 45ACP...and considering reloading. Anyone have an idea of what it costs per round for reload ammo for 9mm vs. 45acp? I'm trying to figure out how many rounds I would have to shoot to get back my initial investment. For those wondering...yes I am a CPA. -

What is the proper way to return a firearm to the manufacturer for warranty service? Do you have to ship through an FFL?
