Well stated David, furthermore I think to hypothesize on a public forum what our collective response would/should be isn't very prudent to begin with. To be honest, I don't know where I would end up in a worst case scenario - but then again I try to deal with what's in front of me and my family and not "what-if scenarios". On another note, I have to imagine that this debate and the ongoing debt ceiling (and budget) debate will be negotiated in tandem within the walls of congress and the executive branch. They will be used as pawns to negotiate with.

I'm just waiting for them to announce the federal "Cash for Clips" program, with all that $ they just appropriated.

Since when did facts get in the way of a good soundbite :pleased:

What is this BS?http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/obama-unveils-sweeping-plan-battle-gun-violence-165956859--politics.html "In keeping with the president’s promises, his proposals would limit the manufacture of new assault weapons and ammunition clips with more than 10 bullets – but would not affect those already on the market."

This is why I won't even answer the door anymore. If it isn't someone I know, they can just keep knocking. I live in a neighborhood with way too many solicitors (half shady). -
A quote comes to mind "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin Or "give them an inch and they'll take a mile" Insert your phobia here... Full capacity magazines... never killed anyone Insert your phobia here... Semi-auto firearms... never killed anyone

Something we need to stay on top of.

The devil is in the details. What constitutes a mental health problem? Who makes that determination? The libtards would probably classify all of the gun owners as mental cases. -
O still thinks EO ok.

Obama blamed "a fear that's been fanned" by opponents of gun control. “We’ve seen—for some time now—that those who oppose any common-sense gun-control or gun-safety measures have a pretty effective way of ginning up fear on the part of gun owners that somehow the federal government’s about to take all your guns away," he said. "There’s probably an economic element to that—it obviously is good for business." He added that "responsible gun owners—people who have a gun for protection, for hunting, for sportsmanship—they don’t have anything to worry about." Sheww, I was getting worried. I guess I can sleep better tonight, thanks BO -
Funny, I keep telling my wife that....for some reason she doesn't respond well.

I'm in the same boat, and would like the LAR-8 in order to utilize my FAL mags. I don't mind paying a 10-15% premium in the present market, just not the 100-150% premium on most GB items.

+1 A kin to staying home vs. getting out and voting. If you're not living your principles, you're part of the problem. -
Hope this is true

Permanent fix for play
The other method is placing a #41 o ring around your upper pivit lug. This keeps from having any rubber in your rifles working space.
Thanks you sir, I'll try that -
Permanent fix for play

Yep, that thread about sums it up....still is annoying though :) -
Nice buck!

Started to get off topic on another thread so I thought I would bring the question over here. I have a lot of play in my upper and lower and in the front handguard. I have a Sig556r (7.62x39 variant). Have used some gorilla tape on the handguard where it meets the gas block, and an accu wedge. But it drives me nuts to have to rig it this way, not too mention, I don't really care to have a piece of rubber floating around in my lower. Anyone have any suggestions, is this something a smith could fix. Thanks!
-
That was the only option I found. Is there some other way to remove the play? I dont really like a piece of rubber in my lower. The rifle eats everything and is pretty darn accurate, but the play is annoying (shouldn't be there in a rifle costing $1200+ IMHO). I don't want to get too far off topic with this, but I'd like to know if someone else has any other ideas.

How does the furniture and upper/lower fit together on the 716? I have the Sig 556r (7.62x39 variant) and she runs like a scalded dog, accurate too. My only knock is there is a lot of play between the upper and lower (I have an accu wedge that takes out most of it). And the handguard fit leaves a lot to be desired, have tape where it meets the gas block.
