Not everyone who has a handicap tag has an ailment that is outwardly visable. Some people have respiratory illnesses where 20 feet saved can make a huge difference in how they feel. I am disabled because I was seriously injured in a helicopter accident overseas and my life will never be the same. I have a handicap placard and will likely maintain it. Most people couldn't guess but that is because on bad days I rarely leave the bed. But if I do I like to be able to save any steps I can. With that being said I only use the handicap spots when I am having a bad day. Some days are better than others. On good days I will park in a regular spot and hobble my way into the store because some day I may not be able to make that walk. It is on my really bad days where every step saved makes a difference. It is only on those days that I will use the handicap spots. I often wondered what a person's disability is or if they even need it. Then I realize that to most I have no outward problems either. There are those who have respiratory ailments that don't look disabled at all. So I generally don't specualte whether a person with a placard deserves it or not. I agree that there are a lot of people out there who are "disabled" who shouldn't be. I know of several that were awarded disability status for stuff they shouldn't be. One lost 1/2 of his pinky to a table saw and is on full disability. Another is too fat to work (but sells drugs) and yet another said he got nervous when his boss watched him work (he does electrical work under the table). Some of these people work full time under the table and have for years. It seems like everybody wants on the disabled bandwagon but if they were truly disabled they wouldn't want to be. Dolomite

Parents today try to be friends and worry about what their kids think of them. What they should worry about is preparing their kids for when they enter the brutal world on their own. Parents try to protect their kids from failure which is the motivating factor for me to succeed in life. I allowed my son to fail and every time he learned a valuable lesson. Dolomite

+1 After all it was meant as a temporary fix until those using it could find a job. It has turned into a sole source of income for generations of families. There should be a cap on lifetime benefits. If you chose to use your 3 years of benefits during the first 3 years of adulthood then they should not be entitled to any more. Prior to my injury I was never without work for more than a total of probably 18 months so 3 years should be plenty for most providing they are not lazy. If nothing else make them answer phones for government offices. Have a rating system for their performance and have it directly related to their income. You do a crappy job and you get a partial welfare check. Do a great job and you get a full welfare check. The callers will rate the call immediately after. The percentage of bad calls will be the percentage of loss of the welfare check. Or perhaps require companies that use foreign workers for call centers to use the welfare recipients and then the company pays back into the welfare system the same amount they would pay their foreign workers. That way at least the money is used to offset the costs of the welfare system. For those physically able make them pick up trash or do some sort of community service. Another benefit is once people have to actually work and realize that the welfare they are receiving is less than minimum wage they will hopefully go find a better job. Welfare is nothing more than a way to control large segments of the population. The government promises the recipient just enough money to survive and in exchange they agree not to be successful in life. I do not agree with putting a requirement on the children. Put the requirement on the parents but even then any loss of benefits is going to have a profound affect on the children. Not an easy fix when you take into account the children and how removing benefits are going to affect them. Dolomite

If anyone else is looking for a 24/7 for $700 I will sell mine:D. J/K, never going to part with this one. Actually seems the wife may be taking it over now that is unless I can find a pink one. Those are insane prices. Dolomite -
I hope you are kidding. All guns are different, even AR's, so just because it was zeroed on your gun doesn't mean it will be on his. As a matter of fact in most cases they will never line up. As far as zeroing I start at the lowest magnification and look for the "splash" of the round then increase magnification as I get closer to the zero. This is in an area where I can shoot at the ground to get close before moving to paper. If you are zeroing on paper start by doing this. Remove the upper and then the bolt from the upper. Lay it on a flat, stable surface and look through the bore and then the scope. Make adjustments on the scope until what is seen in the bore is in the scope. This will work to get you on paper to about 50 yards. Also, the adjustments will be opposite while doing this. That is if the bore is lower than the scope you are going to have to use the "up" adjustments on the scope to bring the scope down to the bore. I have always bore sited these two ways and bore sighting has always worked as well as saved me rounds when zeroing. I do it this what with every gun I can including bolt guns and autos. Don't be tempted to use one of the laser bore sighters as they tend to be problematic. Also, if you forget it is in the bore and fire a round it will ruin your rifle. Dolomite

Not sure where you are looking and for which model but Bud's has them for $975 shipped to your FFL. They add a 3% credit card fee and that is it. Sigarms Rifles Dolomite

They actually made a left handed Colt. It ejects to the left and all the controls are exactly opposite of a standard, right handed, one. Here are links to a few: http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr289/mydumpster/1911L1.jpg http://picturearchive.auctionarms.com/2983181314/9766917/dsc03291.jpg_thumbnail1.jpg Not my guns or my pictures hence the links. I would also verify the barrel is 5.45x39 as well. Dolomite

Are you LE, MIL or EMT? If so the prices are substantially cheaper at LE Glock dealers. Dolomite

Man sent to prison for illegal gun sales
Dolomite_supafly replied to MikePapa1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It has nothing to do with turning a profit. When you engage in buying with the intent of reselling them that is illegal. You don't have to loose money to be legal. And likewise making money selling guns isn't illegal. It is the action of buying guns with the intent of reselling them where the line is crossed. And when you buy hundreds of guns and sell hundreds of guns during the same time period it isn't that hard to figure out. It is when the buying and selling guns as a business enterprise without an FFL that is is a problem. Go to the shows and you will see those "private" sellers at every show selling guns. They say it is part of their private collection but they will gladly buy yours, trade for yours as well as sell theirs. They are at every show and these are the ones who are circumventing the licensing procedures. Dolomite -
California has been a petri dish for a lot of policies that are now national policy. Almost every law regarding guns, the enviroment as well as public assitance has started in California and their "forward" thinking. California is a microcosm of where our nation is heading. California's economic demise is going to happen nationwide unless we do something. We, as a nation, are doing exactly what Califonia was doing. That is provide programs for anyone who can fill out the paperwork and have the working class pay for it. California has reached the point where their working lass can no longer afford the upkeep of those who don't work. As a nation we are in the same boat as California and it is just a matter of time before we meet the same fate, that is unless we change in a major way. At some point the nation is going to run out of money to spend and no one will lend us any money like they have for decades. The working class will no longer be able to support those who don't work and the programs the "have nots" have come to rely upon will cease. This is when this country will become a third world nation and you will see rioting as well as looting in the streets. It will be the "have nots" taking what they believe is rightfully theirs from those who have supported them for so long. As much as I hate California why aren't we going to bail them out like we did all the banks. We would see more long term benefits through taxes and other economic gains by helping out California than we ever saw with the money we gave the banks. The banks were given bailouts to help the economy. They were supposed to be used for loans but all they did was move the money offshore and make investments so their shareholders could make a profit. The bailouts in no way helped the people of this nation yet we are the ones paying for the bailouts with our taxes. Even though most banks have paid back the bailouts we, as taxpayers, are not getting a break. We are still paying for the bailout with our taxes while the bailout loan repayments are going into the federal coffers for them to use. Almost seems like a bait and switch in order for the government to get more money out of the American people. Loans are harder to get now than they ever have been for most honest people. Dolomite

Can't see that well but it does look like a flat back receiver. They are good guns but from a builders standpoint the newer ones are truer gun to gun than the older ones. I prefer a 3 screw trigger over the accutrigger but prefer Sharp SHooter Supply triggers over any others. Dolomite

I guess TWRA could ask the turtle where he picked up at. If they don't get an answer they are probably going to assume you probably got him here. What a lot of people don't know is they have an area that they occupy during their lifetime. Box turtles do not travel far, usually living within an area less than 200m in diameter. Odd, are you waiting on PayPal to pay you? If so they can do it a few differetn ways. You can have a check sent to you but I believe you need to be verified. Or you can have the bank account on file receive the money. If you only have a credit or debit card then you can only receive a check. If your PayPal balance is still there then you can use it to make other purchases. Dolomite

This is just the begining of the end of the internet as we know it now that we can't share ideas between sites. I can understand if someone is using someone else's material for a profit that doesn't include the person who made it or wrote it. And even with that the victim should have to prove actual damages rather than some hypothetical amount that likely is over inflated. And once this become mainstream we are gonig to go broke paying for the courts to decide all of it. I am actually disgusted by all of this mostly because it is going to stiffle forward thinking and the free flow of ideas. Dolomite

UN treaty or not there still is that pesky Constitution any enforcers are going to have to contend with. And honestly I do not see UN troops coming in and going house to house looking for arms. LE isn't going to do it on a large scale either leaving the honor system. What would happen is 95% of the gun owners would turn in their arms under threat of jail. The other 5% will hide their guns for that proverbial rainy day that probably will never come. Also, all the gun owners who turned their guns in will turn in those who didn't. This, if it even happens, is nothing more than lip service to the rest of the world like what has already been going on. We are slowly being turned into the Euro trash socialists that our government wants us to become just so they are happy with us. Dolomite

I will be going. I need to get a tube engraved and hopefully the lady who is normally at the Expo Center is there. I've tried a few trophy shops, they all say they can do it but in the end it is nothing more than a scratching that isn't very deep at all. A jewelery shop managed to have their cutter jump during engraving causing some damage so I had to fix that. Maybe I just need to use aluminum for the tube rather than SS. Dolomite

In my statement I guess I forget to finish the sentence. It should have read "You would better better served using the flat back vs round back as the means to determine age". Sorry about the confusion. The Axis/Edge is a totally different gun than the budget Stevens 200's. The Stevens 200's are exactly like the model 10's and 110's while the Axis/Edge is a totally different animal. They are good for what most people are going to use them for but if you plan on modifying the rifle the Axis/Edge is not the rifle you want. The reason is there is no aftermarket support for them. Accuracy is just as good as any of the other Savages. The only different between the newer guns and the older guns is the accutrigger. I do not like the accutrigger and it can be problematic but other than that all other the parts are the same. The parts will interchange without any major fuss. There are a few odd models like the "J" model that is a hybrid gun but other than that all Savages are the same. Long actions have not changed in decades other than the addition of the accutrigger. I can see where the accutrigger can cause problems but the actions, barrels and bolts themselves are rock solid and have pretty much remained unchanged for decades. Dolomite

If you paid with PayPal then contact them. They can seize or freeze the guys account to ensure you get your money. They can tell you step by step on how to return it and then get a refund either from the seller or through PayPal. I have filed disputes with PayPal several times and it always worked out for me. As much as gun people hate PayPal they are the only way I pay for online transactions anymore. I even use PayPal when purchasing on other sites as well. I pay my garbage pickup with PayPal. I buy reloading supplies through PayPal. Pretty much if an online retailer has a PayPal option I use it. Dolomite
