The governor is a Republican. Baltimore has been Democrat for 50+ years, and has elected black mayors 4 of the past 5 times. A can of worms has been opened up by the mayor whether she realizes it or not. If my business or home was burned and looted, I'd sue the city.

I can sort of understand the Mayor's decision in this one. Letting the rage burn itself out is a technique. I'm not saying it's the right one, but I'm also not saying it's the wrong one.
Who is going to pay for cleaning up the damage? Who is going to pay for the destruction of property? Who isn't going to try and sue the mess out of the city of Baltimore after the Mayor let's this go on? Ultimately, the poor taxpayers are the ones that end up footing the bill. The National Guard should have been called out a lot sooner to stop this type of nonsense.

Why only one front night sight and the mag is dropped from the normal 7 to 6 ?
Colt shows theirs with a 7 round mag. It's not like you won't need more!!! -

I love the S&W 1911s, but the warning on the slide ruins it for me. The first shot I ever took with a 1911 was with a Smith, and it was a bullseye. I was sold on the platform after one trigger pull.

I prefer shiny blue pistols. There's not too many 1911s that don't have a coating on them. I chose this one.

Nice pick up. I've always liked the CZ75, and want to get one. Playing around with them at the NRA show was great too. Congrats.

I was born and raised in Memphis, and the problems in that city have been going on since before the cobblestones were laid on the riverbank by the slaves. Nothing will ever change there. Memphis is doomed like Detroit. There's not really much hope due to the racism on both sides.

Out of all the striker fired pistols I pulled the trigger on at the show, this one was one of the nicest.

The Ultra line of Rock Island 1911s look really nice. I spent quite a bit of time at the NRA show at their booth. I was very impressed by their pistols. The small graphic on the gun sure beats their old roll marks.

What a blast this show was!!! It was just so unreal to be able to handle so many firearms from so many vendors. I have enough swag to last for months. I hope the NRA returns in 8 years or so.

The ability to fondle so many different weapons is awesome. There are great prices on t shirts and hats. Lots of free swag too. I'll be there today for sure.

I was right there with you. I really wanted a 1911, but had never shot one. I finally rented a S&W at Nashville Armory. My first shot was a bulls eye, so i was hooked. At the low end of your price range, a Springfield or Ruger would be excellent choices. When you get up into the upper ranges, it brings in Sig Sauers, S&Ws, and even Colt.
You need to decide if you want a standard mil spec weapon, or one with a lot of the goodies. I ended up purchasing a Colt XSE for around $900 plus tax. You can get mil spec Colts for around $700. I just like the all blue 1911. Good luck.
