  1. When I got into firearms several years back, I was like a kid in a candy store when I came onto sites like TGO.  I saw so much stuff that needed (wanted).  Glocks - gotta have some of those, custom 1911/2011s - yep, high capacity semi-auto shotguns - alrighty, piston ARs - yeah buddy, fancy target 22s - you betcha.

After acquiring the firearms I needed (outside of one, and it is on the way), I transitioned into knives and other bladed tools.  Now that I have what I needed, things have sort of lost their luster.  I still enjoy shooting all of my guns, but I have finally got to the point of viewing them more as tools instead of fancy things that go bang.  Don't get me wrong, I still prefer a 1911/2011 to any other handgun, but my EDC is a G19.

After purchasing my house several months back, my interests have now changed to outdoor power equipment.  Wood chippers, pressure washers, chainsaws, pole saws, zero-turns, backpack blowers, tools/tool chests are what interest me.  I guess I am just following the advice a friend once gave me; get all the toys you want before you get married.  :)

  2. Um, not to be a bummer, but Spartacus and his arm were totally destroyed, and the worst part was that it led to the generals that crushed it to become famous, and later emperors, ending the Roman Republic.

Geeze, you sure are a party pooper.  :)

That may have been the end result, which I am sure they knew (or at least some of them).  However, conforming oneself to a particular figure in no way signifies that they will share the same fate.  One claiming they Spartacus is really nothing more than saying, "F... you, I will not be a slave!" to the government.  I believe it is a good analogy considering there are many similarities between the Roman Republic, which transitioned into an empire, and America.

  3. In all seriousness, the thing that really ticks me off is that I am all the time hearing of the barbarism that was endured by black people by the KKK and the like before the civil rights period.  That stuff happened 50 years ago and longer, and it is still shoved in my face every year.  Granted, there was unimaginable brutality, and may those that participated in such action get their just desserts in the end.

In this case we have the same degree of brutality.  What did we hear from the media, so-called civil rights leaders, and self-anointed black leaders?  I remember hearing very little from the national news media, and pretty much nothing from the other two groups I listed.  The double standard makes me want to vomit.

  4. Speaking of wood chippers...

I've got lots of them.  The vast majority are profanity.  Some of them involve a wood chipper.

Well...  I just got my wood chipper two days ago, so I have one available. :)

Since the sick bastards like to use chemicals, I would probably take that approach when dealing with them.  I would probably start by soaking their genitalia in a warm 50% sodium hydroxide solution.  The pain would be unbelievable as the caustic slowly saponified their skin.  I could also start with an upside down compressed air can in the ears, or perhaps a few drops of sulfuric acid.  Regardless of how I started, I could assure you one thing, the medieval inquisitions would pale in comparison.

  5. According to the article,

The Supreme Court had long ago ruled that stop-and-frisks were constitutionally permissible under certain conditions, and Judge Scheindlin stressed that she was “not ordering an end to the practice.” But she said that changes were needed to ensure that the street stops were carried out in a manner that “protects the rights and liberties of all New Yorkers, while still providing much needed police protection.”

While the practice is not ending, it is a positive step in the right direction.  I am curious as to what kind of reforms will be put in place.

  6. The problem is how HUD will actively target zip codes and areas that they deem in need of "diversity".  It reeks to hight heaven and is the height of social engineering.

The explosion of suburbs in the past has, in part, been a direct result of people wanting to get away from unsavory elements.  Now the federal government will do everything they can to ensure that you can't get away.  They can't afford to do it, but then again, the average hard-working middle-class family will now find it even harder to afford living in an area free of scum depending on the extents this directive goes.

You are exactly right.  If we do try to get away by moving even further out, we get hit financially when we try to sell our existing home due to decreased property values.

  7. I have noticed the past several days this has been popping up all over the place.  According to the article I just read, it appears that this proposal is in the 60 day public comment period.

What I have to say is not really professional.  Heck, it isn't very Christian, even though I profess to be one, but it is how I truly feel about the matter.  To the administration and HUD I would say, GO **** YOURSELF.

  8. Hitler an extreme example, I admit, but then surely one can be saved after a lifetime of bad deeds, like the two thieves crucified next to Jesus. Who's to say Adolf didn't repent in the bunker?

Of course many Christians believe Reverends Al and Jesse are doing the Christian God's work daily, no reason for atonement, so they present a special debate.

Do I believe in the possibility of "death bed" conversions?  Certainly.  Since you believe that Christianity is really nothing more than mythology, and those who have embraced it have only deluded themselves, I won't be able to explain it to you in a way you would understand or accept.  Therefore, I won't elaborate on the concept of salvation.

As far as your later point goes, nobody ever stated that the church doesn't have its fair share of ill-informed morons.  I can attest that it has plenty.
