In TN non-secure areas of an airport are not off-limits unless the property is properly posted by the airport authority. I don't' work at an airport, regularly travel through them or know much about TSA rules and regs, so take that into consideration, but I would think you would be prohibited from being armed in any secure area and/or area controlled by the TSA.

Tennessee law -- ammo storage, homeowners insurance

Unless they just take the whole thing like they did mine..... -
Hate to say it...but I think those were the very first words out of Naifeh's mouth last week. "There are no bars in Tennessee." With some of the talk last week about needing to "rework" the code. I'm not sure if it looks good this year. To me sounds more like they are going to work on defining bars/taverns and restaurants and then maybe allow carry in just the restaurants. carries

Question For the Instructors on the Forum
Fallguy replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That's true...I was speaking of since the current permit system has been in place. AFAIK Since the State has issued HCP's you did not have to carry concealed. I never had a permit from the sheriff, was working on it when the State HCP law came out. -
Question For the Instructors on the Forum

Where the finger printing is done has changed.... Mine was also done at the Drivers License Station over 10 years ago. The law on open or concealed carry has not changed at all since it was first passed. You have always been allowed to Open Carry if you chose to. My instructor told us it was legal. However it does seem most LEO's encourage concealed carry. -

Nothing I don't think. The investigator who called was actually an old classmate. I think they were just trying to follow the trail to the last person who had it. No telling how many personal sales it went through over that time.

I was contacted by the Sheriff's Dept here a couple of years ago about a revolver I had bought at Wal-Mart over 20 years ago. Told them who I had sold it to. All they would tell me is they had in their possession but not how that came to be.

The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters

I don't think it is..... Every now and then it seems a thread will get off into police tactics/encounters etc... and people tend to relate more negative encounters they've had than positive ones. Although as a whole I'm sure there have been many more positive/neutral encounters out there. I was just thinking...the encounter I had with one state trooper, even though he gave me a ticket (and he should have I guess..I was speeding) he was VERY professional, hell I wanted to offer to take him to lunch afterwards, but I don't ever talk about that encounter with people. Talk with jaypee (retired CHP), depending on the first couple of threads you come across, first impressions can be wrong. -

Well, that was a wasted trip to the DOS.

True...I have seen some travel companies saying what used to take 6 weeks can now take up to 6 months, might not want to wait till the last second to get one, even if you think you just might leave the country. -

Dave, over all I think you and I agree more than we don't.....just not going to 100% come together. Well Said.... I agree that locking the doors probably wouldn't' be the wisest thing to do, but don't leave them open, you an shut your door. Of course as others have said, maybe the dog isn't available right then, or like the county I live in, there isn't a drug dog. Or...since I don't do drugs...maybe I have the shotgun with a questionable barrel length I was taking to someone to tell me if it was legal or not. Now depending on my appearance etc.... your might be reasonable and not charge me if the shotgun was illegal, but the next officer might, so not sure if I want to take the chance or not. I agree, the person being stopped really doesn't know if the officer has PC and I guess the officer may not have to tell the person if he has PC or what it is if he does. I assume you mean if he decides to search anyway when he can legally do so, otherwise if he is going to conduct an illegal search, I think the locked doors could very well help the defendant in court. But if he does have PC I agree he can work right past a locked door with no problem. I agree as did the lawyer in the video (and even Chris Rock...lol)....never physically resist. Again true...and the opinion of the judge is the only one that is going to matter. Another good reason to know some case law as others have said. Also something some folks may want to consider is tape or voice recorder if you are going to be more assertive with your rights, that way it's not he said/he said thing. -

....and letting the officer search, when you know you have an illegal substance/object/etc... when he does not yet have probable cause, or allowing him to more easily get probable cause by opening up the vehicle is good advice? -

LOL...also if CH means Concealed Handgun...you'll notice it does not have C or Concealed on there either. It does not have to be concealed in TN, but it does have to be handgun...lol -

I have to agree.... Did letting him search keep you from getting a ticket?...Maybe, maybe not. But why would he ask to search? Just because he wants to is not good enough for me, even with nothing to hide on my part. In this case I probably would have informed the officer as well...other than I would have said Handgun Carry Permit as TN does not issue CHLs To some degree I understand they had to respond, but would have been nice if the caller would have just been told it is not illegal to own several firearms. Still see no reason to let them past the front door, if you don't want to. Nothing like knowing what your rights are...then at least you can exercise them as you choose. -
