  1. I'll just play the waiting game. I didn't know when these things hit the market, so that was ignorance on my part. I'll just pick one up and see about it. Thanks.
  2. I've been into these M85 kits, and found I could cut ~$300 off the cost if I convert a PAP to a SBR. I realize the rear of the receiver is slanted so I would need to shim it to make it work. Just curious if I could pick anyone's mind over this idea. Thanks.
  3. I've tried Googling, but all I've come up with are KRAV MAGA and other martial arts that somewhat delve into knife defense/tactics, but I'm looking for a straightforward class. I'm in Crossville (about 30 miles East of Cookeville, but I can drive). Even if I have to go to Knoxville, that would be all right.
  4. ^ That's an awesome grouping.
  5. People will say the DPMS stands for "Didn't Pass Mil-Spec" and sometimes it's true in their 15-pattern rifles. They make good stuff with a few bad eggs in the mix. With their 10-pattern rifles it seems they are the best in the $800-1600 range. Honestly. I'm a mil-spec parts whore, and I was going to do exactly what you plan on. DPMS and reconfigure it for my own. Nothing wrong with that, amigo.... In fact, you have me logging onto Gunbroker right now Also, I know some of you have issues with the whole "DPMS is crap" bit, but keep in mind I didn't say that. If you have anything to say, send a message to keep this informative thread on track.
  6. For the love of God, stay away from the Lonewolf Glock-mag lowers. Nightmares. http://www.shop.doublediamondsupply.com/Custom-AR15-Glock-Mag-Lower-Receiver-DDARGLC.htm
  7. For awhile I was researching this (still, am, but it's on the back-burner until I win the lotto and can afford to shoot as much as I want ) It's going to be more expensive, you're going to need to make sure certain parts are compatible with others (I.E.; if you buy a DPMS upper, will it mesh well with your Armalite lower? Or if you buy a DPMS LPK, there's a good chance it won't fit your CMMG stripped lower), and finding individual parts is going to be a b*tch, pardon my French, Every company is doing their own spin on the AR10 (and yes, it's a universal term for the 7.62/.308 AR-patterned rifle), and that makes each one different from the last. They aren't built to the same tolerances as regular 5.56/.223 AR-15s, where every 15 is the same as the last (well, unless the company cuts some corners). Another thing to consider is magazines. DPMS and a few others allow the use of PMAGs (cheaper), whereas Knight's Armament and a few others do not (more expensive mags). I looked this up a year ago so this may be outdated info about the magazines. Good luck and I'd love to hear about it if you decide to tackle the build.
  8. Sounds good to me. Definitely would like to see an update when you do.
  9. Ah, so I forgot about this here. Update time: I got it mid last week, went to the range with my brother and traded it to him that day. I wasn't too hot on it and he loved it. And I got a Saiga-12 out of it so I'm happy.
  10. I would have to take a look at the bolt, but that would be pretty sweet, wouldn't it?
  11. Traded for a motorcycle? That was a nice rifle, so I hope you got a good bike, man. And I've been considering doing the same. Maybe just 2 lowers, but I was also wanting to get one of those M-85 Krinkov kits floating around. But yeah, i just shipped off my rifle and I cannot wait, people.
  12. Yeah, that would be best. Also, I moved out of your area and back to Crossville. Do you ever go shooting anymore? I should come out there one weekend if you do.
  13. It's not in my hands, but the guy shipped it off this morning. What do I do with it first?
  14. I liked the one I held at Wally World. I kinda want one, now. Even though I'd probably go for a Del-Ton
  15. Does this mean manufacturing qualities vary?
  16. I liiiiike it. Simple, very practical. Nice shooters.
  17. Damn, I just traded for my bro's S12. You're making me want a piece of this!
  18. Anyone tried these magwell adapters? TAC-47 and SGM makes them. I'm looking at the TAC-47 brand myself.
  19. To K9 and Torrin: PICS.
  20. There is a new finish out there that does all the things K9 said (longer life, better accuracy, etc...) and it isn't chrome lining. Wish I could remember. When I was looking at 308's, I was checking out the REPR. Hefty pricetag, but it fit my needs.
  21. Do the .300 Blk and 7.62x39 have similiar flight paths? I haven't been able to find any info on this
  22. If the military adopted it (unlikely), then the price of parts are going to go up, and ammo would be harder to find. I hope they don't take a glance at it. LEO already have their eyes on it and spoke with AAC to make the "Honey Badger." But this round has been reinvented more times than I care to count, so it's probably not going anywhere fast. I just wanted to have a heavier projectile that can be fired from a shorter barrel. And considering the ammo is cheaper than .308, and you could easily swap out your upper for something in .22 or 5.56 for fun, the pros outweigh the cons for myself. Also, I'd just like to say that Colt had a nice concept, but they made it far too heavy. The larue OBR is considered one of the heaviest "battle rifle" .308s out there and the LE901 is heavier (by a quarter pound, i know. But still.)
  23. I really like the integral AK, but I just couldn't do it. After the costs and everything I'd still have a loudish bang. I'm kinda looking toward .300 for mine. but HK customer service to civvies... leaves something to be desired, from what I've heard.

    300 AAC Blkout

Good to know. Kinda debating between .30 calibers. .300 BLK seems to be cheaper than .308...

    300 AAC Blkout

How much, on average, would one save by reloading himself (on the .300 BLK)?
