  1. Yep, same old me, different name. I talked with 0down last weekend and decided to change my user name. I'm not an evil guy, and the old name kinda portrayed me as one. The story behind the "demon" is that my dad used to call me his speed demon. Over the years it got shortened to demon and it kinda stuck. It's not really me. So, from now on, it's not demon - it's Donnie.
  2. I only had time to shoot a couple magazines through it last night before my son's baseball game. I didn't shoot at paper targets, but dirt clods at my new house. Seems like it's pretty accurate, as each time it went boom the clod was only dust afterwards. I've carried it for the last 2 days and it's very light and comfortable. I really like the changeable backstraps as I can taylor the gun to fit my hand perfectly. I thought that my sub-compact XD fit my hand good until I held one of these. The fit and finish are very good and I think that I'm going to like this one. I've got an OWB holster for it right now, but I'm thinking that I'll get an IWB for it in the very near future.
  3. I've shot a 220ST and my 226 and so far so good. Any Sig will be a good gun, they build a really good product. I put 1000 rounds through the 226 last weekend and it ran without a hitch. Have you shot a gun with a beavertail on it?? If not, shoot one and then base your wants after that. The beavertail allows you to get a higher grip on the gun and not worry about slide bite.
  4. I learned a lot in the class Shay. I would recommend this class to anyone. When everything slows down a bit, I plan on taking the fighting rifle class and then the advanced fighting pistol. If y'all ever plan on doing another FOF class in Murfreesboro, I'm all over that. I was talking to boonie at the class about the FOF class and he was raving about it.
  5. We need more bowtie people on here.
  6. Well said Joe. I've always felt comfortable dealing with Joe, Dan, Rodney, and Sammy. They treat me like family and that's hard to find any more. I've always liked the 1911s, but since I got the Sig 226, I've been wanting a smaller carry gun in 9mm as well. The 1911 carried good, but something smaller and lighter would be better. So, as I sit here with a M&P Compact on my hip, I feel like I did the right thing for me. I've missed my XD Sub-Compact since I got rid of it so this was a natural progression. The M&P feels better in the hand than the XD did and it carries very good. I think that I'll like this little gun for the long haul. I'm starting to save up my pennies for a new 1911. I'm thinking commander size bobtail in stainless with a Wilson Combat roll mark on it. It might take me a while before I can get it, but it'll be worth the wait.
  7. Hows about the 226 and the M&P both on my belt. You know, a fellow needs a backup. I picked up the little M&P this afternoon. I think that I'm really gonna like this gun.
  8. hmmmmm............ Maybe a trip to Tullahoma is in order later this week. Do you think that he'd be a bit surprized if I wore my 226 with my light on it in my Bladetech and 4 extra mags on the other side all for the world to see??? Sounds like you handled yourself in a very professional and polite manner. The other people in the store may have been enlightened by a good person carrying a gun.
  9. My SC is a blue billboard model. I've had very good luck with getting guns at Hero Gear. I got my 226, Stag AR, another S&W 1911, Beretta 1201FP, and the wife's Kel-Tec P32 through them. The 1911 SC came through their shop used when I picked it up. Trust me - I'm getting a good deal, like usual.
  10. Yep, gonna get a new pistol tomorrow. I've always liked 1911s, but I'm going to trade my S&W 1911SC off tomorrow after work. I'm going to stay with the Smith and Wesson family though. There's a new M&P Compact 9mm with my name all over it. I've been eyeing these for a while now and am going to have to get one. The 1911 carries well, but it's my smallest handgun and it isn't that small. I just got the Sig 226 and it's fairly large and I'm wanting something small and light again. I'm not a big fan of Glocks and I've had XDs so I'm going to try something different. I've regretted getting rid of my XD Subcompact and have been wanting another smaller carry gun. Joe at Hero Gear just got a bunch of these little jewels and he hooked me up. I'll try and get it out and shoot it this weekend. I've heard great things about these little guns in .40 and their lack of recoil, so the 9mm should be a breeze.
  11. Wonder what happened to it to make it do that all of a sudden. You probably put 900 rounds through it before it did what it did. The 226 ran and ran. The only malfunctions were manually induced by myself by either snap cap or simulating a stovepipe or a type 3 malfunction. The only thing that was happening with it was that I didn't put any locktite on the grip screws and I had to tighten them about every 400 rounds or so. I did a quickie clean job on it (took all of 5 minutes) after the first day and forgot to clean my magazines. It didn't matter though, they still preformed as needed. It far exceeded my expectations. It should be good and broken in now.
  12. Did it turn out to be your extractor spring on your Glock???
  13. Ok, here's how my weekend went in a little more depth. I forgot my camera, so unfortunately no pics. Friday evening: I left the house at around 6pm and got to Camden at around 9pm. Pleasant drive. Get into Camden and it reminds me of home - nice small town feel. Get to James' house and make my way down to the team room. There are quite a few people in there and come to find out, they are there from a full week's training for an instructor level class. The Team Room is in James' basement and includes 12 bunks and a common area where there were all kinds of manly activities going on. The Team Room was a good thing. We all talked and watched movies and got to know each other. Saturday Morning: We got up and went with Sherman House (one of the instructors) to the Catfish Place for breakfast. This restaurant serves the biggest breakfasts for the least amout of money that I've seen. Breakfast was good and then we left to go to the Tactical Response shop. Shop was well stocked with all kinds of goodies and the training was to go on in the rear of the shop. We met the rest of the class that didn't show up in the Team Room. James gave us an intro and introduced us to the trainers. The lectures were interesting and informative. You didn't have to ask many questions, as the info that you probably wanted to know about was to be covered in a couple minutes. After the classroom portion of the day, we all proceded to the range. We started off with dry drills to get proper draw stroke, stance, movement, verbilization, and grip. We started on Live Fire and that's where all the real fun started for me. They incorporate all aspects of the draw and movement into each drill with everything progressively getting more advanced. We worked on trigger control and sight alignment for a while then incorporated it into movement. We shot while moving back, foreward, left, and right. I would say that I shot approx 650 rounds the first day. Good Day. Long Day. At lunch, a couple of us that stayed at the range got to shoot a nice little toy, a Barrett .50 that one of the students from the instructor class had just purchased. That thing was incredible. We headed back to the team room and some of us got showers and others had to wait till we got back from Dinner. I cleaned up my gun and waited for the others to get ready. We ate at Raphael's and I had a delicious steak. After dinner, we retired back to the team room to clean up and rest our weary bodies. Sunday morning: I was kinda tired so I slept a little late and barely had enough time to pack up my stuff and get my gas guzzler out of everyone's way. We all went back to The Catfish Place and had another good breakfast. Again, we all headed off to the shop. This morning the lecture was on mindset and legal ramifacations. Sherman House did an excellent job with the mindset portion and James Yeager blew me away with his lethal force and legal teachings. This mornings classes took a bit longer than saturday's classes did, but were well worth it. At lunch, we headed back out to the range. Day 2 at the range was even better than the first. We ran drills about using cover, changing positions, more and faster movement. We also covered close retention shooting in a manner that I've never done before. This was an excellent day. The next day, Monday, I was sore for a few hours but it was definately worth it. James and crew puts on a high quality class that I guarantee will satisfy you. This is only the start of my training with them. I was highly impressed with the care that the instructors gave the students. For James to open up his house to us just gives you a hint of the kind of man he is. I'll be back, I've drank the Tactical Response cool-aid and I think that I'm addicted.
  14. 0 Down, it was nice to meet you. As far as I know, we were the only two from this board there, well at least in the team room. If anyone else was there, speak up. I'm the fat guy on this end, without a glock.
  15. We shot our asses off, not literally of course, and had a great time. I learned a lot in this class and highly recommend it. All of the instructors there are top notch and a good group of guys. I am definately going to take more classes there. I've drank from the Tactical Response cool aid, and now I'm addicted.
  16. I ended up getting a single point sling.
  17. Yep. I'm probably going to leave around 6ish. It's a 3 hour drive for me, so around 9 I'll be there.
  18. The shop that Joe is talking about puts out very good products. My wife's work (Century 21) uses them for all kinds of stuff from shirts, jackets, decals, and even automotive graphics (you should see Joe's trucks).
  19. I'd take a hat, and probably a shirt.
  20. Sorry to hear that Len. Hope everything is going to be OK.
  21. Eddie, being around Tullahoma might get you hit by a train, or hit one sitting still on the tracks like usual. We should ban towns with train tracks in them.
  22. Darwinism at it's best. He might have had a better chance if he ran beside the tracks toward the oncoming train instead of away from it.
