  1. A guy at work cooked chili for lunch today. It was really good chili and it reminded me of this story. Enjoy Frank: "Recently, I was honored to be selected as a judge at a chili cook-off. The original person called in sick at the last moment and I happened to be standing there at the judge's table asking for directions to the Coors Light truck, when the call came in. I was assured by the other two judges (Native Texans) that the chili wouldn't be all that spicy and, besides, they told me I could have free beer during the tasting, so I accepted." Here are the scorecard notes from the event: ***************************************************** CHILI # 1 - MIKE'S MANIAC MONSTER CHILI... Judge # 1 -- A little too heavy on the tomato. Amusing kick. Judge # 2 - Nice, smooth tomato flavor. Very mild. Judge # 3 (Frank) -- Holy smokes, what the heck is this stuff? You could remove dried paint from your driveway. Took me two beers to put the flames out. I hope that's the worst one. These Texans are crazy. **********************! ******************************* CHILI # 2 - AUSTIN'S AFTERBURNER CHILI... Judge # 1 -- Smoky, with a hint of pork. Slight jalapeno tang. Judge #2 -- Exciting BBQ flavor, needs more peppers to be taken seriously. Judge # 3 -- Keep this out of the reach of children. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to taste besides pain. I had to wave off two people who wanted to give me the Heimlich maneuver. They had to rush in more beer when they saw the look on my face. ***************************************************** CHILI # 3 - FRED'S FAMOUS BURN DOWN THE BARN CHILI... Judge # 1 -- Excellent firehouse chili. Great kick. Judge # 2 -- A bit salty, good use of peppers. Judge # 3 -- Call the EPA. I've located a uranium spill. My nose feels like I have been snorting Drano. Everyone knows the routine by now. Get me more beer before I ignite. Barmaid pounded me on the back, now my backbone is in the front part of my chest. I'm getting s---faced from all of the beer. ***************************************************** CHILI # 4 - BUBBA'S BLACK MAGIC... Judge # 1 -- Black bean chili with almost no spice. Disappointing. Judge # 2 -- Hint of lime in the black beans. Good side dish for fish or other mild foods not much of a chili. Judge # 3 -- I felt something scraping across my tongue, but was unable to taste it. Is it possible to burn out taste buds? Sally, the beermaid, was standing behind me with fresh refills. That 300-LB woman is starting to look HOT. just like this nuclear waste I'm eating! Is chili an aphrodisiac? ***************************************************** CHILI # 5 LISA'S LEGAL LIP REMOVER... Judge # 1 -- Meaty, strong chili. Cayenne peppers freshly ground, adding considerable kick. Very impressive. Judge # 2 -- Chili using shredded beef, could use more tomato. Must admit the cayenne peppers make a strong statement. Judge # 3 -- My ears are ringing, sweat is pouring off my forehead and I can no longer focus my eyes. I farted and four people behind me needed paramedics. The contestant seemed offended when I told her that her chili had given me brain damage. Sally saved my tongue from bleeding by pouring beer directly on it from the pitcher. I wonder if I'm burning my lips off. It really peeves me off that the other judges asked me to stop screaming. ***************************************************** CHILI # 6 - VERA'S VERY VEGETARIAN VARIETY... Judge # 1 -- Thin yet bold vegetarian variety chili. Good balance of spices and peppers. Judge # 2 -- The best yet. Aggressive use of peppers, onions, and garlic. Superb. Judge # 3 -- My intestines are now a straight pipe filled with gaseous, sulfuric flames. I pooped on myself when I farted and I'm worried it will eat through the chair. No one seems inclined to stand behind me except that Sally. Can't feel my lips anymore. I need to wipe my hiney with a snow cone. ***************************************************** CHILI # 7 - SUSAN'S SCREAMING SENSATION CHILI... Judge # 1 -- A mediocre chili with too much reliance on canned peppers. Judge # 2 -- Ho hum, tastes as if the chef literally threw in a can of chili peppers at the last moment. **I should take note that I am worried about Judge # 3. He appears to be in a bit of distress as he is cursing uncontrollably. Judge # 3 -- You could put a grenade in my mouth, pull the pin, and I wouldn't feel a thing. I've lost sight in one eye, and the world sounds like it is made of rushing water. My shirt is covered with chili, which slid unnoticed out of my mouth. My pants are full of lava to match my shirt. At least during the autopsy, they'll know what killed me. I've decided to stop breathing it's too painful. Screw it; I'm not getting any oxygen anyway. If I need air, I'll just suck it in through the 4-inch hole in my stomach. ***************************************************** CHILI # 8 - BIG TOM'S TOENAIL CURLING CHILI... Judge # 1 -- The perfect ending, this is a nice blend chili. Not too bold but spicy enough to declare its existence. Judge # 2 -- This final entry is a good, balanced chili. Neither mild nor hot. Sorry to see that most of it was lost when Judge #3 farted, passed out, fell over and pulled the chili pot down on top of himself. Not sure if he's going to make it. poor feller, wonder how he'd have reacted to really hot chili? Judge # 3 - No Report
  2. The eating in an alcohol serving establishment while on duty isn't enforced, at least not in this county. Every Mexican restaurant here serves Margiritas and there are plenty of on duty LEOs that eat at them.
  3. Yep, unless you're on duty, you pretty much have to obey the current HCP laws. There are a few exceptions like ignoring the no carry signs in stores, but schools and alcohol serving establishments are off limits.
  4. Charging her with assault is just stupid. They should have gotten her to the side and told her that it was inappropriate after what just happened, but charging her with assault is wrong. She probably shouldn't have done it, but playing around with a toy gun with children shouldn't get you arrested. People are too uptight anymore. I play around with my son outside with airsoft guns, I just hope one of my neighbors trys something like this on me.
  5. Yep, Clark http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_160_26/ai_92585767
  6. You might have trouble converting the gun to fire 38 specials more than getting the magazine to feed them. Your breech face is too narrow for the rimmed cartridge and finding a barrel will be a pain. It would be cheaper to buy a new gun.
  7. I got my confirmation yesterday as well. I too am planning on staying in the Team Room over the weekend. I'm about 3 hours away and am going to travel up on friday night and get there about 9-10pm.
  8. I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you Sir.
  9. I'll get some info on the baseball camp for ya. My wife has made the arrangements for it and I'll talk to her about it tonight.
  10. I know what ya mean Macho. I work with him at home to improve on his weaknesses where and when he wants to do it. I don't force him to do it, but he wants to. I'll help him in any way that I can, be it a $200 bat or whatever. He got burnt out last year with the traveling tournament team and he's taking this summer off from that. He's got a good coach and the team is pretty good. There are 4 12 year olds on his team, 4 11 year olds, and then there are 3 10 year olds. He is far from the best player on the team, but is one of the better 10 year olds that got moved up. He wants to improve his game and we are sending him to Vandy's baseball camp this summer. I don't care if he's the worst kid out there, as long as he's having a good time. He's 10 years old and having fun, that's good enough for me.
  11. Well, I've got to go and pick up my daughter. My wife's been out of town all weekend and she'll be home tonight around midnight. My son's got a 7:30 game and we'll see if he tries to do good on his "homerun payback" but he has yet to hit one out of the park. If the little guy can get on base, it's all over. He LOVES to steal bases and he's the quickest one on his team.
  12. Yep, the one he broke was a $200 bat as well. He's played on the all stars every other year and a traveling tournament team for the last 2 years and it can get expensive. This is his 6th year playing ball and he turned 10 in February. I was looking at some of the adult bats while I was at Dick's sporting goods and some of them are in the $350 range. Gone are the days of playing with wood bats like I used to.
  13. Well, my son plays baseball, like many of your kids do. He takes it very seriously and is actually pretty good at it. He's 10 years old and got drafted up into major league, normally he'd still be in minor league. Anyhoo, at practice saturday he broke his bat. It wasn't just any bat, but an Easton Stealth that the warranty just ran out of a couple months ago. These bats are composte bats with carbon fiber handles mated up to scandium barrels. The thing broke where the carbon fiber meets up with the barrel. I spent my Sunday looking for another bat. I found another Stealth in Huntsville in just his size and weight and it set me back $200. He owes me a homerun. I was going to buy some ammo this weekend, but that got pushed to the side. It's worth it, as long as he has fun.

    AR help

That would be a good buy. I've got a stag that's fixed up about like that one (no folding front sight or SOCOM stock) and $1500 wouldn't get mine.
  15. I have always preferred hammered guns rather than striker fired guns. I've never owned a H&K, but I did do some research on them as of late. My latest firearm purchase was actually between a Sig 226 and a modded H&K USP .40 with a factory magwell, fiber optic front sight, and logo grips. If someone asks me if my cocked and locked 1911 is dangerous, I'd tell them that I wouldn't carry it if it wasn't dangerous.
  16. I wish more politicians thought the way he does. This country would be a better place if they did.
  17. I agree, side folders are the way to go if you aren't happy with the solid stock. Yea, give me a shout and I'll come up there. Maybe mine will come in at about the same time. If you want, we might go out to my property and put a few rounds through it and my new toy. I need to shoot my AR and rezero my EOtech anyway.
  18. I have always favored the standard hook or the C hook over the J hook. The belt is supporting the holster in the standard and C hook where your pants are supporting the gun and holster in the J hook. Might not be a problem with a small light gun, but if you are considering a heavier gun, then you'll want more support from your belt. I had a CTAC for my XD, but only tucked it a couple times. Most of the time, I'll either have a t-shirt tucked with a button up over it for concealment or just an untucked t-shirt. Personally, I don't really have a need for a tuckable, but there are people that do. There's a fine line between concealing a gun where you can access it quickly and concealing it too deeply. I'd rather have mine somewhat concealed and run the risk of being made rather than deeply concealing it and having to take a critical second or two just to get to the gun. That extra time might be too much time when seconds count.
  19. I know what you mean by dragging by. It's going to be tough. So, are you going to leave the factory furnature on it or switch out to a folding stock or anything???
  20. Have fun up in FCF. Should have good weather this weekend.
  21. I'm thinking about a Safariland 5187 or a Bladetech. I've got a Streamlight TLR-1 light that I had for my XD and both Safariland and Bladetech make holsters for it with the light attached in a non duty belt type holster. I'll probably get another holster for it without the light while I'm at it. I've wanted a P series Sig for a while now. I was about to trade another gun I had for a P220ST last fall to a guy I work with, but he backed out. I've been shooting .45 and .40 for a few years now, and thought that I might go back to 9mm in one gun for a while. I can shoot twice as much 9mm for the same ammo cost. As far as the cost goes, I traded in my used XD .40 V-10 with tru-glo TFO sights, a CompTac CTAC holster for the XD, some duty gear (approx $250 value), and $175. Needless to say, Dan and Joe cut me a hell of a deal on it being that it's MSRP is $1100.
  22. I JUST got off the phone with Dan. They just ordered my newest toy and it should be here in a couple weeks. My plans changed gears on me as well. I had thought about ordering a Sig Revolution 1911, but changed my mind. I already have a good 1911 and variety is the spice of life, right???? Sooooo, I will be the proud owner of another kind of Sig. I've got a 226 Blackwater coming for me. 5 15 round mags, 2 sets of grip panels, contrasting night sights, and a holster that will fit it and my TLR-1. I'm stoked.
  23. I was planning on going up there on sunday, but the wife's out of town this weekend and I've got my 2 kids.
