  1. I'm with molonlabetn on this one. The PM system makes arguments between a couple people stay between those people. The Chat feature will allow people to do this in real time as well without dragging it out into the forums. I for one enjoy reading the responses that Shay and James put up from some of the people that have attended various classes. I've signed up for the class and it gives me a good indicator about what I might be in for and what other people think about their training that have been there. Do I believe in getting training, yes I do. Do I think that EVERYONE needs training, no I don't. Training is a personal thing. Some feel like they can train themselves, while others like to get professional training. Others have their opinion and I have mine, but we're all entitled to that opinion. Let's not forget why we're together on this board. I'd hang out, talk, or shoot with any of you. My name is Donnie and I'm a gunaholic.
  2. On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Centrist (54). On Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Strong Conservative (81).

    FFL transfers

Dan at Hero Gear will transfer a firearm for me for $25 everything included. He says that it's easy money to make a phone call for a background check, get a gun in the mail, and do a couple minutes of paperwork. The shops that charge you a percentage of the new price are just pissed that you didn't buy it from them and still want to make their cut on it.
  4. Oh, I forgot to add a photo. The Eclipse is at top, obviously, then below on left is my V-10 XD.40 and then a Kahr PM9. I don't have the Eclipse or the Kahr any more, but both were good guns.
  5. When I was laid up, I carried a Kahr PM9 in a pocket holster on my weak side as my right leg was the one that was injured. I could hold my balance with one crutch on my strong side and my left leg good enough to drop my left crutch and draw. It wasn't ideal, but at least I was still carrying.
  6. I used to use my Kimber Eclipse Target before I got rid of it. Then I used my XD .40. Now I use my S&W 1911SC but will be using my new toy that will be ordered next week if it runs right. I'm getting a Sig Revolution XO Black and upgrading the sights on it (thinking about XS Sights 24/7 big dot) and adding a magwell to start off with. I'm getting an excellent deal on this gun and couldn't pass it up.
  7. Welcome, and I feel for you. I tore my ACL completely in two in my right knee 2 years ago in a motorcycle wreck. I went through surgery and had it replaced with a portion of another ligiment in my knee. I cracked my femur and my kneecap as well and had to wait for the bones to heal before working on the ACL. I was laid up for quite some time. I wish you the best with your recovery.
  8. If you want to drive a little ways west, Mid TN Shooters in Manchester shoot IDPA monthly. Here's their website with the dates for IDPA, USPSA, etc. http://www.midtnshooters.com/index.htm
  9. I'm just down the road a piece from molonlabetn. Bout the same here. It's just about as bad as good can get.

    what do you do?

I do quality control work for a large road construction company testing asphalt products both in production and on the roadway. I test aggregates at 5 of our rock quarries and sand plants as well. Keeps me busy.
  11. Yea, what molonlabetn said. The key to shooting is good practice, not just practice, but good practice. There is a difference. And welcome.
  12. Welcome from across the mountain.
  13. Anybody have any luck this weekend?? My son got a turkey Saturday morning. My father-in-law took him (he's 10) and he bagged a good one. It weighed 19 1/2 lbs. with a 10" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. It was his first turkey and he was beside himself. He got it with his Charles Daily 20ga youth model with the full choke in it shooting 1 1/4 oz #6 shot remington wingmaster shells. Needless to say, we're getting a full mount of it in strut with the tail fanned out. He got his first deer last fall and the mount should be back in a couple weeks for that one. Looks like I've got a good little hunter on my hands.
  14. Sorry that I couldn't make it y'all. I had a funeral to go to. Some friends of ours lost a child in Florida in a car wreck and they put him to rest on Saturday.
  15. Welcome, and yea, there are a good bunch of people on here. Make yourself at home and join in on anything you wish.
  16. I'm going to have to wait and see what's on the agenda in the morning. I might be up there, and then again, I might not. I've got alot going on with the new house I'm building and don't know what'll come up from day to day.
  17. That's odd, Dan and I were just looking at those yesterday. There's a class 3 dealer in Franklin that has a version that's a little bigger than that one. The beauty of that gun is that it's a smoothbore pistol and only subject to the $5 AOW tax if you buy it like it is instead of the $200 tax on a short barreled shotgun.
  18. Well, Hello. Make yourself at home.
  19. I don't know if it's been tested or not, but I'll put it to the test if anyone is found roaming around in my house in the middle of the night.
  20. I carry a gun. My wife carries a gun. We both have cell phones as well. It's not remote enough for me to tie up the whole back of my wife's explorer or my toolbox on my truck with "survival gear". In the winter I have a couple blankets in the toolbox in case we get stuck or run off of the road and that's just about it.
  21. Donnie

    XD help

    +1 on that.
  22. I believe it might be some of his work Shay, but I'm not sure.
  23. Since the class is on their website, I wonder if anyone outside of this forum has registered for it, thereby possibly taking someone's place that wants to go from here? It doesn't ask for your screen name or anything and I seriously doubt that they have our real names compared to our screen names. Just a thought. I can understand the low on cash thing. I just had to pay in $3200 in taxes that my wife didn't get paid quarterly last year. She's a real estate agent and pays her own taxes, or is supposed to anyway. Needless to say, we had a little "discussion" about that.
  24. OK, so who's registered for this class so far??? Looks like we've got the following people registered: Len Mike 0down Rooster demon and the following people that have said that they want to do it WingedSnake Wareagle bach Looks like we've got 8 to go to the class. Shay or James, how many people have registered on your end for this class?
