I have a holster for my Sig 226 that lets me keep my TLR-1 attached to it. The problem with not having a holster that will let you keep the light on the gun is that if you need to reholster, you must take the light off. This isn't good, as your attention is not focused where it needs to be. For home defense, I believe a weapon mounted light is a big plus. It leaves your weak hand free to open doors and use a phone if necessary. If you are so inclined, you can have a hand held light as well for scanning while covering a target.

Welcome from Winchester.
-
I'm shooting the next person that I see carrying around a bowling ball.
-
I hear ya Joe. I like things that I'm not. I'm not light or fast.
-
to get 500ft/lbs, a baseball would have to be thrown at approx. 205 mph. So, a good major league pitcher flinging 100mph fastballs could do as much damage to you as a .32 ACP.
-
But what do you like?? Fast and light, or slow and heavy. With your fondness to .357 Sig, I would put you in the prior instead of the latter. Correct??

As you know, I'm not a real big fan of heavy bullets. I opt for the medium weight or light weight bullets for the particular gun that I'm getting bullets for. I feel like a light bullet will put the energy into an aggressor without overpenetration. It will also shoot flatter. I also believe that the faster speed might make the hollowpoint work better in a light bullet. Lighter bullets generally have less recoil as well. I have carried 200 grain +P .45 ACP, 155 grain .40, and 124 grain 9mm in the past year. The biggest thing is to put as many holes in as fast as you can in the right places until the threat stops. Was that a Sonic Cherry Slush???

Most fullsize lights are going to stick out pretty far in front of the gun. You might want to consider an X2 if you want it closer to the front of the gun.

Did you try all the different grip inserts with the M&P?? I feel like the M&P fits my hand better than the XDs did, but that's more subjected to personal prefrence. The M&Ps are less blocky and more streamlined than the XDs as well. From what you've listed, you can't go wrong. The XD, P2000, and PX4 are all good guns. The only trouble that I see with getting a PX4 might be holster selection. On a side note, I put the factory plastic grips on my 226 and love them. The factory wood grips are a lot wider than the plastic ones and it made it fit my hand a lot better. It was comfortable with the wood on it, but with the plastic, it just feels right. I won't have to worry about scratching up the plastic ones either as they aren't $100 a set to replace.

I had a CTAC for my XD that I used to have. I was pretty satisfied with it but wanted some other recomendations. The CTAC would dig into my side when driving and I thought that leather would be a little more comfortable. I might look into the KD holsters. I really liked the clips on the CTAC.

I could shoot myself for getting rid of that one Tungsten. It was black on black with the factory steel cowl hood. It was a 350 car, not a big block, with a 4 speed and 3.73 gear. I traded it for a '87 Buick Grand National with a Stage 2 Chip and 3.73 gears. I had to get rid of the GN to pay some bills when my son was sick as a newborn and spent 2 weeks in intensive care in Vanderbuilt. I had a fast toy since then and it bit me hard 2 years ago. I wrecked my CBR 1100XX and cracked my femur, kneecap, trashed my ACL, and messed up the cartlidge in my right knee. I have since gotten rid of the bike and once we're comfortable in the new house I'll have something else fun.

Was something bad about to happen or am I just paranoid??

I'll probably call the Sheriff's office down there later on in the day. I didn't think to do that. It might help someone else out. -
I'm thinking about getting a newer Pontiac GTO next year or maybe an older mid 90s Z-28 or Trans Am. My wife wants me to find an old Mustang (69 or 70 model) and fix it up. I used to be a technician in a Chevy Dealership and can do just about anything to a car. I restored a '72 Chevy stepside truck for my dad several years ago and used to have a '69 SS Camaro that I reworked. I'd rather find a 67 thru 69 Camaro or a 69 thru 72 Vette to play with. I just don't know if I want a late model driver or a older screamer.

As y'all know, I've gotten a couple new guns lately. The holsters that I have for both are OWB. They do the job nicely for what they are but don't conceal as well as I would like. I have a Safariland for the M&P compact and it does a decent job of concealing. The one that I'm really concerned about is the Sig 226. I have a tactical holster for it that enables me to put my TLR-1 on it. It's fine for range days and such, but it's pretty big and obvious. I'd like to get a good IWB holster for it without the light. I'd like to hear the pros and cons of the IWB holsters that y'all use. I'll spend good money on a holster for it, but don't want to buy half a dozen holsters in trial and error. I might get a good IWB for the M&P compact as well. Thanks

Last week the family and I went on vacation. Everything went well while we were there in St. George Island Florida. On the way back something happened that was unusual. It was about 10pm on a lonely stretch of road between Tallahassee and I-75. A car came up behind me and started flashing it's lights at me. I ignored it but it kept doing it. I had alot of stuff in the back of the truck like beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc. and thought that something might have blown out. I pulled over, hit the cargo light, and hopped out. My shirt came up over my gun while I quickly got out of the vehicle and stayed behind it exposing my pistol. There was a guy already at the back of the truck when I got there. He was coming right at me fairly quickly. I took up a bladed stance and told him to stop and what was the problem. He kept coming and I told him to stop once again and put my hand on my pistol. He then stopped and staired at me for a second. I asked him what he wanted and he hesitated and stumbled over his words for a second or two and then asked me how to get to the interstate. At this time I saw the drivers door and one of the rear passenger doors of the car open up. This guy turned around and put up his hand to his friends and shook his head at them. I told him to keep following this road and he'd find the interstate. He turned around and ran back to the car and they took off like a bat out of hell. I didn't get their plate number, but noticed that they had Florida tags on the car. When I got back in the truck, my wife was sitting there with her gun in her hand. She had been watching the whole thing and got a bad vibe about it. The car sped off and I couldn't keep track of it. I mean, why would someone from Florida pull someone over with out of state tags and ask THEM for directions after acting suspecious. There were plenty of signs directing people towards the interstate and gas stations every few miles. My wife got an uneasy feeling watching from the truck and pulled her gun. If something bad was going to happen, they weren't going to get to her or the kids without a good fight.

You'd bring up that 10mm stuff wouldn't you...................
-
It was nice meeting you Eddie. That's one sweet AK. The finish on it looks better than most that I've seen and the black furniture goes well with it.
-
I've never ordered anything from them, but I have taken a class with them. Everyone that I talked to there were standup type of guys. There were others there that ordered stuff from them and they treated them right. When 0down's gun broke on Sunday afternoon, Alan opened up the shop and helped him fix his gun. That alone says enough for me to know that the people at Tactical Response are top notch.
-
So Rabbi, why do you carry a .357mag instead of a .38 Special??? I bet it has something to do with the .357 hurling the same bullet faster, kinda like what .357sig has over 9mm.

He should be heading back towards Tullahoma at Mach 74 with his Polish prize in hand.
-
I won't be attending this show. I'll be moving boxes in the hot sun.
-
Joe, Dan, Sam, and Rodney at Hero Gear definately spoil us around here. You won't find a better bunch of guys to do business with, or just hang out with. I have a nice little Smith & Wesson M&P 9c that carries well. It's compact and seems to shoot very well.

I'd probably be able to come over on one of those weekends. Sounds like a couple cars will be needed for the Winchester area shooters.

I thought that they didn't do ribeyes any more Sam. Welcome Wes, I'm posting from Cowan right now as well.

Finally........... Welcome Dan
