  1. Trailboss is great for obsolete calibers i use it in my 71/84 Mauser I called the company and asked them for loading data. the man I spoke to said to take your case lay it on its side lay the bullet you are going to use along side of it to the depth it is going to seat mark where the bottom of the bullet will be on the case with a marker when lt is seated to the proper depth this is your case capacity starting load is 50% max load is 75% do not compress load no filler needed.
  2. Greg That was my first handgun the one I had came with both cylinders kept it until I bought my Ruger single six they are plenty accurate and will hold up I had mine for about 15 years and shot I don't know how many bulk boxes of ammo through it never had any problems with it .
  3. What I do on grips that need the panel on the back. I drop the mag if its a auto loader which you should have already done to unload and check the gun. Take off the original grips and trace through the frame on both sides this gives you your right and left inside panels fitting is critical or they will shift around. Then you will need to decide how you want to shape your outside panels and glue them on your inside panels. The outside ones need to be a little oversize so you can shape to fit after the glue is set then you can mark and drill holes for screws . I realize this is short but hopefully this gives you the idea and making grips is like anything else the more you do the better you get.
  4. I have made a few flat and a few that required building up never used a router on anything that small too much risk as shown the results can be very painfulhere is a picture of one I made
  5. One sold on Gunbroker for $325.00 recently
  6. Back in the old days you would open a shotgun shell up pour out the shot and replace it with rock salt wont kill at extended ranges but burns like all get out think of it as antique riot control for mischievous teenagers can't do that today

    what to do

I have been thinking about a Savage in 223 for about the same reason at the ranges I plan on hunting I think it would do just fine. I know it doesn't have the range of a 22-250 but for me it will fit the bill. I have also heard good things about the 204 Ruger but will it last think of all the rifle calibers that have came and went.
  9. You wont find that gun any cheaper I have one I bought a the Outpost Armory and gave $300.00 out the door got a Desantis pocket holster for it hardly know its there. As for the Nashville show the admission goes up and the quality goes down I don't go to that one any more because of it Cave City $5.00 to get in I know its a drive for most of you and you cant buy a handgun there but its still worth the drive for me
  10. Two Ithica 49s one in 22 mag the other 22 LR
  11. I am aware of all the laws but thanks for the heads up anyway.
  12. I enjoy going to the show I have a 357/9mm Ruger Blackhawk convertable and a Type 38 Arisaka with intact mum
  13. I am going tomorrow got a few things to sell
  14. I just file down the front sight. Use a few layers of masking tape on the gun barrel so you wont mar the guns finish. Go slow then fire a few rounds file some more if needed. Also lower your rear sight about midway this will give you some adjustment when you get done.
  15. Glad to see it added to the list I had one of those a few years ago sold it to buy a m1 carbine. they are great guns.
  16. If the ad doesn't say I always ask some will take a C and R FFL some wont but it doesn't hurt to ask

    truck gun?

I guess it depends on where you live. Where I live I can't remember the last time someone got broken in to. All of us that carry have to leave our guns at home or in the car or truck at some time or another unless you want to risk loosing your carry permit or never go to the hospital, DMV or any government office or posted business. its just a risk you either are willing to take or not. Record your serial numbers and take pictures of All of your guns and put the info in a few different places in case the worst happens. To each his own I am just glad I live in a state that I can, even though the state makes me jump through hoops to do it.
  18. Has anyone here taken the TWRA hunter safety course it used to be gave at high school. I took mine in 1983 and both of my sons have taken theirs it is a much better course than the handgun safety course the only difference is the legal stuff. That is where it needs to be it could be a 6 week course like it was when I was in school. also it needs to be instructed early on to every child. How many children have we lost because they found a gun maybe at a friends house didn't understand the danger and someone dies? Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it is a verse from the Bible but it also applies here. I have never supported the idea that I should as a law abiding citizen should have to pay any money to do what the United States Constitution already guarantees. I did not learn one thing from the handgun course that I did not already know. I have made up my mind I will always carry no matter what laws are changed in the state and keep a copy of the US Constitution on me. Politicians always talk about reasonable restrictions the founding fathers understood that is why they didn't have any. The second amendment was and is about being able to defend against a tyrannical government not necessarily personal protection. Hope this doesn't ramble too much just some quick thoughts on the subject.
  19. They were not fired from the shoulder they were tucked under the arm and rested on a bi-pod look at this link Military Analysis: Jezail
  20. First off thanks for your service to the greatest nation on earth those of us that have not served owe you a debt that cannot be repaid you are in my prayers. The Khyber Pass region is well known for its fakes both extremely crude and very very good. I am not familiar enough with that odd looking gun to make any comments on authenticity just proceed with caution also what is the price in US dollars even if its a fake the price might be worth it for a souvenir.
  21. I bet more deer are killed in Tennessee with the 30-30 than any other caliber. My youngest son went with my marlin 1894 357 mag lever gun and took his first deer with it. Shot placement is far more important than caliber. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

    truck gun?

20 feet was the truck locked? I always keep my truck locked even if I am going to be a few feet away or only a few minutes. Plus I guess it depends on the area you lived/ worked in.
