  1. Moped, I live in Knoxville. I cleared that up in post #6. msparks, you are correct. My girlfriend and I practiced buggin out a short while after my first post here. We basically went camping with everything I had in my bag on a mountain north of Knoxville. We made it alright but we learned more about preparedness than about survival. However, I say now that I'd rather make friends with someone or a group of people with land and resources and work together. We've reworked our bug out plans and locations. Right now I've got two and a third one might be in the making. The mountain we went to in October is no longer in the picture at all. Baron, sounds like you've got a good plan. It is very similar to ours. Our home however is not our first priority. We live in a small apartment surrounded by college kids. We live in the Fort Sanders neighborhood near downtown Ktown and the UT campus. We have a small cache of food which we could easily pack within 10 minutes and get to our first and closet location about 15 minutes away in Louisville. Luckily there's more than one way to get there but they will likely be heavily trafficked. Our 2nd location is up in Maynardville, close to where we originally "bugged" out. Both locations are modest houses on a mountain owned by friends' family. While I haven't been taught survival skills I can offer both places another pair of hands and some firepower.
  2. You probably have a virus. Backup all the data you can (if you can) to an external HD or DVD. Reformat your entire system afterwords. You don't want any trace of this thing left behind. This happened to me last week. I had no control over my computer and I have no idea how the virus got past my AV.
  3. I sight my scope in at 100 yards. Why? Because that's as far as my range goes :-)
  4. Concerning the John Sevier TWRA range, it's not as bad as you think it is. No need to join the club there on the premises. RSOs can be intruding/annoying (depending on who the RSO is). Simply tell them to leave you be. My girlfriend shoots there with me and some RSOs think she needs to be taught everything because she's a girl. We tell them to leave us alone and they do. Only real downside to JS range is it's 100 yards. $5.50 for two hours isn't bad. I've gone a little over the time limit before and they didn't charge me extra. It's close to where I live. I like it. You should try it out. It is all bench rest, so no prone or standing. I think that's a fair trade for the shooting I do.
  5. I would say that is a decent price, but I would try to talk you down to 800 if I had the money. If only the gun show was two weeks later. I'm going Sunday. Which day are you going? What condition is the Maadi ARM in, what ammo is it, and what kind of 30rd mags? Those factors would affect how I value that package. On another forum, Maadi's are selling for 450-600.
  6. Honestly, I don't know. I too am very interested in building my own AK and PSL eventually so I've read some about it. From what I gather there are many ways to do it. Some say you need all these tools. Others say that you can build it with just a hammer. Don't quote me on that. All I have to really help you is a link to another forum with links to some very good AK building resources. The AK Files Forums - How to Build an AK - 01/02/2010 Update Goodluck. I would love to build my own but I have not enough funds or time.
  7. I forgot there was a wedding that weekend that I must go to. Sorry, but I will not be able to attend the fair.
  8. I'm in as well. This all sounds good to me. I would be starting from zero though, so I would be mainly listening and learning from you guys. I can also attend the preparedness fair on the 24th.
  9. Thanks BimmerFreak. Are those rings meant to be taken off to use the irons or can you peep through them to do so?
  10. I saw this rifle on another forum. Does anyone know what type of rings it uses so that BUISs can be used? Or is this just an artist's rendering and nothing more? I understand it sports ARMS Low Profile BUIS.
  11. I will also stop by your shop while I'm in town for Spring Break.
  12. Hi everybody. I am a student here at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I am originally from Memphis. I've been shootin' for about 2 years and I really enjoy it. Somehow I've already got a collection. Got a 10/22, WASR, and a 12ga. I shoot at the John Sevier Hunter Education Center on the weekends, but haven't had time lately. Hoping to learn a lot from you guys on here.
