  1. I second the Ruger Mark II suggestion. I'm moving to H'ville in the next few weeks. Once I get there, you're welcome to shoot mine if you 'd like to see how it shoots.
  2. Experienced shooter that's moving back home to Nashville (Hendersonville specifically). I was getting ready to start reloading, but due to the move and everything being hectic I haven't had time to start yet. Looking for someone near Hendersonville that would be willing to help me set up everything and maybe watch my first reloads (or maybe let me watch them first). I've read the ABC's of reloading, Hornady Reloading Manual, and took the NRA Metallic Reloading Course (home validation). I would rather take it slow and err on the side of caution getting some "hands-on" experience, especially starting out as a NewB. BTW I've bought a Hornday LnL Classic set and am looking to reload .380ACP/9mm/.45ACP in pistol caliber and 30-06/5.56 (or.223) in rifle. Appreciate the help, thanks!
  3. I have logged hundreds of miles over the last 4 years wearing a Smart Carry holster...haven't shot the boys....works great......maybe you should try it before you knock it....my .02

    DB 380?

Had one and it was total piece of crap....had multiple FTFs, FTEs, and the trigger would not reset several times as well. Sent it to the factory and was promised a spare magazine since I had to pay shipping. Got it back form the factory with the "nothing's wrong with the gun, but we buffed the feed ramp for you" response. My spare magazine was never sent because "the gun worked fine"....I was pissed... Shot the gun again...same problems. Had two other shooters fire the gun.....same story....called the factory and they said sent it back again on my dime. I basically told them to pound sand. As an NRA instructor, I would never recommend this particular firearm to my students....save yourself the pain and buy a Kel-Tec P3AT or Ruger LCP... Add: I purchased mine approximately 6 months or so ago.
  5. Just went to the Hornady website and apparently they're extending their free 500 bullets promotion through 2011.....that's got me leaning towards getting the LnL Classic and some 30-06 bullets....that should bring the value down to about $170 for the Hornady LnL Classic for me.....Am I over thinking this decision??
  6. New potential reloader here asking for some advice. Seriously looking to get into reloading, so figured I'd see what advice you all might have for me. Right now I am an NRA instructor and newbie to IDPA shooting. As a result I shoot around 200-500 rounds per month, depending on how much available time I have. I'm looking at reloading .380, 9mm, .45, possibly .38sp/.357 mag for handguns and more than likely rifle ammo in .223/5.56 and 30-06 calibers. I don't shoot enough shotgun at this time to justify reloading it anytime soon. I'm presently reading the ABC's of Reloading (9th edition) and plan on taking the NRA Metallic Reloading Course (online, unfortunately) so I can get "smart" on the subject before I get in over my head. I want to take it slow and make sure I understand every step of the way and am 100% confident that I want to start with a single-stage setup (and potentially move to a turret or progressive a few years down the road). I'm torn right now between two setups: The Hornady Lock-N-Load Classic Kitand the Lee Breech Lock Anniversary Kit. I can get the Hornady for around $320 shipped or the Lee for $110 locally. The Hornady appears, for whatever reason to me, to be better made than the Lee. I am not sure that I can justify the difference though in the price...that's what's killing me! I know Lee's reputation is somewhat questionable by some folks. But the Hornady LnL costs 3x as much...either way I'm not one that likes to look back and regret things so that's why my gut tells me to get the LnL, but I also don't like spending money I don't need to so my brain keeps pulling me towards the Lee..aarrgghhh.... Also debating between the Lyman Twin Turbo an Lyman 1200 Pro tumblers...thoughts? Someone please give me your inputs, pro's/con's, whatever else you got!

    380 for ccw

My understanding is that the gun is basically a Makarov style weapon which has proven to be a proven platform for many decades. Verify the caliber and for $170 it sounds like a great deal. I know many people that carry a Makarov/clone and they are all happy customers...

When the Diamond back did work it felt great, i just don't feel comfortable shooting something that has some type of malfunction every magazine i run through it...

The LCP and Kel-Tec are essentially the same gun, minus a little better finish and manual slide lock. I've owned both and didn't have issues with either one. Save your $$ and get the Kel-Tec...spend the extra on ammo or training. On the other hand, my Diamondback was nothing but a headache. Numerous problems (FTF,FTE, trigger failed to reset multiple times) with different ammo, mags, etc. Sent it to the factory "nothing is wrong", but they "cleaned it up"...next range trip, same problems. They also promised me a mag to make up for it being a total POS and never did, so not thrilled with their customer service either...
  12. For the price, you can't beat the rifle kits from Del-Ton....they build it to your specs and the value can not be beat Del-Ton, Inc. AR-15 Rifle Kits - 16" Have fun!
  13. I'm not a female, but the wife is-LOL....anyway,when we go running, we use the SMARTCARRY holster and have had very good results with it. Another option to think about.
  14. Can't speak from experience, but I would think it'd be the opposite. I'd thing going from a long, heavy squeeze, you'd be more inclined to pull it back faster, since there's less tension and it may throw off your shots if you're jerking the trigger....again, not speaking from experience.

    G19 question

Probably the new recoil spring needs broken in....have heard several people say they had to put a couple hundred rounds downrange for it to function correctly. Once it gets broken in, you should be GTG.
  16. Between my full size and compact M&Ps, I've got about 1,200 rounds between them. Other than some FTEs due to a batch of weak ammo, they run like a dream...they replaced my Glocks as my EDC firearms.
  17. I'm an aircraft maintenance officer by trade, so I've been leading and managing Airmen for 11+ years (on 10 different airframes) so I'm trying to find something in the aeronautical industry where I can use my skills. Unfortunately I can't think of any of that type stuff in middle TN, so where I'll work/what I'll do is still up in the air.
  18. Raised in Nashville (Madison) from since I was in the 5th grade. Did AFROTC at TSU and after graduating, spent the last 11+ years as an Aircraft Maintenance/Logistics officer. Due to overmanning in my career field, they decided to get rid of 30% of us, myself included. Now we'll likely head back to middle TN (maybe the Gallatin area?) so the wife can finish nursing school. If you know anyone that's hiring, let me know...I'll email you a resume. I also am an NRA Certified Instructor and currently teach in Florida, where I'm stationed. I'm qualified to teach Basic Pistol/First Steps, Home Firearm Safety, Personal Protection In the Home, and Personal Protection Outside the Home (both are advanced classes). Hoping to get certified in the state of TN or find somewhere that needs an instructor. Also looking for somewhere to continue shooting IDPA. Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself since I'm the new guy!
