Maybe not. Wife got some sort of email alert about this so I wondered if it was being brought back again, but maybe it was a glitch. -

Its open forum, I suppose you can wear anything you want except a gun, I will wear something half decent at least, but not a suit. Its already been listed here http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/33291-new-proposed-gun-show-law-banning-private-sales-hb-2422-hardaway-tn-legislature.html Not just chattanooga but that will be part of what is discussed, I am sure. -
Yea its going to affect everyone when the rates go up to pay for all the stuff required to make a nuclear plant.... esp new regs that come out of the japan crisis... I strongly suspect this is going to hurt everyone, long term, unless you are a nuclear physicist.

Chattanooga is bringing in the leader of the brady campaign to attack guns in a supposedly open forum about all the violence of late in this city. The summit is to be held in a crime zone (no guns allowed) at the UTC arena. While supposedly all views are welcome, I think we can all see where this is going. Also, laws are being written to ban buying and selling guns at gunshows for anyone who does not own a FFL. This is also not the solution to the problem. I am not really very good at wording these sorts of things, but if some of the more eloquent members could get some voices out there on this garbage, it would be awesome. All the pro-gun folks who managed to get in a word have been totally wuss about it, saying things like "lets not over-react until we hear what he has to say" but I do not agree --- unless the president of the NRA is also speaking, the entire forum and discussion are going to be lopsided.

Here are mine, the revolver was my first pistol, a gift from my dad, and the DE one of my first purchases.

I went with a used rem 1100. I didnt spend the $100 or so to re-stock it for a pistol grip, but with a total of about $300 in the thing I have 10 rounds, a soft as it gets recoil pad, and a easy loading device that replaced the dumb remington "press here and only here to load" button. Oh. I see it became active for a follow up, nevermind then =) Good luck in your competitions!

Sig changed the mag design slightly for later production. The early mags were peening or something, the later ones did not. I do not know how the design changed may or may not have affected the use of third party mags, but that could be why some have no problems and others cannot use the non-sig mags.

Now, I am cross dominant, its not a problem. I am left handed / right eyed so I end up closing the left eye, sort of as you described. I can hit a 3 inch group or so at 25 yards or so, nothing amazing, but its not got anything to do with the way my body is wired, its because I have a ways yet to go with my skills. The thumbs behind the slide thing... I would HOPE that everyone does this one time, goes DOH, and learns from it...! Im ok with poor marksmanship if the person is trying. But unsafe behavior is anothing thing entirely --- and is why I have stopped going to certain open to the public ranges in favor of member's only / manned by a RSO places.

You can find $9 a box now and then, but $10 is a solid price at this time. I can reload 9mm for under $5 a box, so its worth it for sure. Uses very little powder, brass is free, $3 a box lead slugs, and primers = good to go. Closer to $4 a box than 5 but give or take a bit. If you want jacketed bullets, its going to cost a bit more -- but *properly* hardened lead is perfectly acceptable even in a glock, its pure/soft lead that causes problems and if you clean the gun, its a non-issue.

I cant get much over 80/100 on the early mid stages, got 95 and up on the easy ones. I havent progressed much, still on stage 12 because I keep replaying my bad tries at the easy stuff.
-
Storing loaded mags won't hurt them. If you are really concerned, leave 1 round out to reduce the stress on the springs.
-
The scout motto is "be prepared". Therefore, by having your CCW, you are well inside the spirit of the scouts, even if the current leadership has grown sloppy. When I was in scouts, probably the 80's, we still had a shooting range at the camp!

Ah, thanks for the links. It was my first 223 reloading, and the lead tips were on sale... oops. I now have 500 FMJs to work thru and those are much, much better. I will make some defensive stuff eventually, once I am more confident with this round -- sounds like the plastic will be a winner.
-
Resolution of your monitor and quality of your mouse win this game. I stopped at 5th or 6th level for now, probably do it again soon, there are limits to how long I can look at something like that without getting a headache.

Maybe there are different types? My vmax bullets are soft lead tip, copper jacket, no plastic here. (??). I have plastic hornadys in other types, crit defense and the fore-runner to that line, but nothing in 223. ... Found the box, its not vmax, its sp/sx "varmint" rounds. 55 gr -- "explosive expansion at low velocities" which I got for my short barrel pistol (puts typical loads out at 2600 fps supposedly).

Around here your every day CCW is probably fine for hiking. If you are going to be around bears and have a weakish EDC, pack something larger of course. I would probably take my desert eagle .44 mag if I were expecting bears, if not, my usual .40 is good enough. Don't think I would pack under a 9mm if expecting any sorts of angry animals, and might consider a backup revolver with shot-shells for smaller nasties.

They usually *shoot* fine, but if I eject one (unloading the gun etc) the nose is always bent up pretty badly, and the first round in the mag gave a bit of feeding troubles a few times. Most of them feed properly after that first round, but a very small handful clogged up. Im sure it varies a lot from gun to gun --- both my 223s are relatively cheap (PLR & Mini 14) and the PLR can be a little bit picky from time to time. It probably didnt help that they were handloads using the vmax bullets but they were in specs for the rounds & if not the best made loads ever, were not odd in any way.
-
Vmax is great BUT those soft tips get mangled in my semi-auto (.223 cal, may not be so bad for larger rounds). They can have a bit of feeding issues due to this, and long range accuracy (not important for defense) may suffer with a mangled tip. If they work well in your gun I suspect they would be great for defense.

Where is the best place to buy Snap Caps
Jonnin replied to wcsc12's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You can make decent ones for anything you can reload, or if you have a buddy that reloads, by cramming a bullet into a case & fill the primer hole with caulk or something. For rimfires, different tricks are needed or buy them... ususally at a real gun store, walmart wont have it. You might be able to poke a chopped down 223 into a used 22 LR case if you really wanted to. A lot of places charge $1 or more each --- far too much for what they are and how easy they are to make. -
I have an older version of the liberty presidential series. It holds a LOT of guns and weighs in at 1800 LBS Give or take (the guys who moved it for me weighed it for fun, so thats rough). Liberty Safe Presidential Series - Best of the Best! The only way out of my house with this is up a hill, up the stairs (which may not support the weight..!), or down the hill but thru thick woods. I am confident they cannot take it away to open later. It seems like it would be a royal pain to break into it even for someone prepared to deal with it. I do not have any ammo in it, so it should survive a pretty good fire.

300 yards would be about 15 X magnification for an average shooter. If you are skilled, 10X may be enough. Most of my scopes hover in the 7X power and are just fine at 200 yards for a fist sized target. At 100 yards 7X is good enough to shoot a dime with some practice. I do not hunt by my understanding is that 100 - 200 yards is about right for this area due to thick woods and terrain. Longer shots are harder to come by (?). Im sure an actual hunter can correct me if I messed that up!

Cleveland hunting/rifle & stuff club has a small fee per year over your NRA membership (required), has good outdoor facilities, events, and so forth. Its on the chattanooga side, off the bypass (first exit). Its not the one you mentioned, I dont think, but its a nice place.

I have one and love it, and my wife liked it enough that we have 2 now. 380 is pricy but we can reload practice ammo for as cheap as anything else. The only bad thing I have to say about it is the price is a bit high. Perfect pocket gun, and I carry it when I need deep, well concealed carry. Trigger is awesome, and its accurate for its size. Highly recommended but the model is known to have minor issues during break in --- my first one needed a burr knocked off by a gunsmith to make it behave, second one was flawless.

I'm going to cover my head and wince after I ask this...
Jonnin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I take it one step past the constitution. They should be treated equally under all the extra laws of the land as well, including but not limited to the same tax setup married couples have (and honestly thats the big one, its not just discrimination, its about money which is always an important subject). No special rights however -- those I do not support.
