Ladies and Gentlemen!! Hear ye, hear ye… 2023 is kicking my butt. At first, I was selling off items from my collection because of the annoyance of some medical bills from a broken leg, surgery, and PT... and twin girls getting braces this coming Spring. BUT LAST FRIDAY... a drunk/drugged driver - unlicensed and uninsured - came across 4 lanes of highway and hit me head-on. I am fine, all of the safety systems in the car worked, airbags deployed, the car crumpled and took most of the energy. Amazingly, I was not hurt - chalk up 1 for the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L I was driving. But I suspect my car is a total loss, and now I am going to have to replace that once my insurance company gets around to their determination. I am not looking for your sympathy… no… I am looking for your money. LOL. But NOT charity! The charity is coming from my end on where I am with some of this stuff. I have had these listed individually, but I figured why not throw up a comprehensive list. I reduced the price on several of these previously, and have dropped more now. $800.00 This civil war musket riffle is in fair to good condition for it's age. It's 58 Caliber with a 33" barrel (that's the original length) . It is missing the ramrod. Hammer spring is strong. From what I read, the shorter riffles where for the younger and smaller men coming in near the end of the war. The American Civil War raged from April 12, 1861 to May 9, 1865 in which roughly 30,000 Model 1861 muskets were produced by Muir for the US government. Like the Springfield production of the Model 1861, the Muir Contract model could be considered the “everyman’s” infantry weapon. Case No. 85. William Muir & Company, and Windsor Locks. In this case bargaining achieved the desired end for Muir, confirmation of his contract for a full 30,000 Springfield rifle muskets. He delivered them all. William Muir on 7 December 1861 received an order from the Secretary of War for 30,000 Springfield's at $20.His contract, re-signed July 9, 1862, contained these terms and the deliveries which began January 22, 1863, and finished November 3, 1864, were paid at that rate: $20 and $16. 25,000 at the full $20 and the last 5,000 at only $16.
