Why do you have to keep the barrel you currently have? 9mm AR barrels are easy to change because you don't have a gas tube or anything to deal with. You can purchase a short 9mm barrel from many sources. I had a 7.5" Model 1 barrel that was great and only cost about $180 a year or so ago.

The AR is a Oly Arms K9-GL, the one that uses Glock mags, from what I have gathered the barrel is not interchangeable with a normal 9mm AR, different chamber tolerences to use the Glock mags.

Yeah, the Olympic system uses a different design than the 'Colt' type 9mm. Talk to David Saylors at Liberty. He is in Trenton GA about 30 minutes from Chattanooga TN. I know he will chop, crown, and thread a barrel for you. He does great work and stands behind it. I'm not sure of his prices for that kind of work, but he was very reasonable on a custom job he did for me. You can contact him here:

Tell him J.D. sent ya.

Check out theses guys. Adco Firearms LLC

I've had them cut and thread several barrels and their work is perfect. Not to mention the turn around time is excellent. I shipped them an 870 to re-parkerize and a Beretta barrel to thread and make a thread protector for. I shipped it to them on a Tuesday and 8 days from the day I shipped it, it was delivered back to my door. Of course it was all perfectly done and at price better than what my local gunsmiths wanted to charge. Good luck whichever way you go.
