Hello all.

My uncle has a .38 special auto military issued pistol from the early 1900s with holster. any idea how much that bad boy is worth? he claims only a couple thousand were made and his grandfather was a field tester for it. he retired before they recalled them all and went with the 1911. the pistol looks like a carry 1911 and i believe it was a colt, but didnt get a real good look at it.

Sounds like a model 1900 or model 1902 Military.

Colt M1902 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A true US military Trial gun will fetch 3 to 4 times the value of its civilian counterpart in the same condition.

Here's a 1902 that sold at ArmsBid in November with the wrong holster, refinished and not a trial gun. It will represent the rather low side of value

I wish very much that i would've taken pictures now:(. He lives out of state so I'll have to snap them the next time I'm around. I didn't even think about it while i was there dangit.

It looks like that gun but I believe his was blued. It seems like it had a 5" barrel though, it didn't seem as awkward looking as those guns but maybe I just don't remember.

I do know that gun is in waaaay better shape than the ones in that link. He is from a family of military and it has been passed down over the years. They have taken great care of it and it shows. I'm sure he'd never get rid of it but he was wondering what it was worth. I'm very suprised it's worth that much.

The Navy thing is really spot on because he also has an old brass telescope from the same family member from the service. That's interesting.

Next time I'll bug him and get some pics of both for everyone but last time he wouldn't even let me touch it lol!
