Car Carry Question

Ok, so obviously CCW Permit lets you carry in your car. And you can't walk down the street with a shotgun (to my understanding), however, is it legal to keep a loaded shotgun in your car (like the cops do)?

39-17-1307. Unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon. —

(a) (1) A person commits an offense who carries with the intent to go armed a firearm, a knife with a blade length exceeding four inches (4²), or a club.

(2) An offense under subdivision (a)(1) is a Class C misdemeanor, except it is a Class A misdemeanor if the person's carrying of a handgun occurred at a place open to the public where one (1) or more persons were present.

A handgun permit is for handguns and handguns only.

I would think, if your allowed to carry a loaded handgun in your car, surely you could carry a loaded shotgun! But not sure on that!

Darn. We need laws like Kentucky. With a permit you can carry anything. I know a perp will think twice when he sees 'nades hanging from you belt!

You could always buy my thunder 5 from me Linc....its a .45 long colt...and it shoots 410 slugs as well! oh..and oo buck.. I usually mix it up..a.45 in one chamber, a couple of 00 buick shells (pun intended) and so on.

that way you can carry a shotgun....In a pistol!

In TN, you can only legally carry a loaded handgun in your car if you have a permit. Since the permit doesn't cover shotguns, it isn't legal to carry a shotgun.
