Proud as I can be!

Recommended Posts

Guys, this may not touch any of you, but...my stepdaughter(mine since she was 5) just turned 19 a few days ago...she came to me tonight and asked me to help her restring her fishing poles....

It was around 11:00 and I was ready for bed....but....I decided to help her....

We just finished and she is now in bed...

I found one of my old tackle boxes and gave it to her, stocked ....showed her how to re-line her poles....showed her how to tie on her hooks....gave her extra line and a few lures....

We finished and came back upstairs...she was texting and all the crap that college kids do....she went to bed....then came back in here and said...."thank you for helping me".....it shocked the hell out of me...and now, that I have had time to think about it....I'm as proud of her as if she was my own!!!!

She just finished her Freshman year @ UT and did great! And with all the  she has going on....wanted ME to help her....

I know this is kind of silly, but, I guess it's the small things in life that make a difference....

The "little things" are almost always the most important when it comes to loved ones.

We so often fail to truly understand how much we love our very close friends and family until they are gone.

Bravo to you for figuring out how important a bond is between family members. Blood relations (IMO) have nothing much to do with it.

There's nothing silly about a sweet little seniment that proves you have made an impact in her life.

I call "job well done, Daddy" on this one.

There's no greater honor on this earth than the expressed admiration of a child. Especially a teenage girl.

My wife was raised by a stepfather since she was 3 months old. He is not her father, but he's her daddy.

Good for you pal. You've done good.

keep her away from Strickj

That step father stuff don't mean nothing. By that I mean anyone can be a father, just takes a few misguided strokes. It takes a special person to be a Dad.

(these words of wisdom spoken by someone who has been Dad for over 21 years)

Dang why FISHING??:)

Those times will be remembered forever.

Like Mike357 said it takes a real man to be a DADDY.

I had a stepfather for 14yrs. I have many great memories with him.

Oh....I am trying to get her interested in shooting....she has shot a little...but not much...

One good thing....she's not "afraid" to shoot...
