You did a wonderful thing.

My wife is actually starting to talk about getting her permit.

She was waiting for the kids to get a little older and keep out of her purse.

My wife has been shoot'n with me in the back yard for 15 yrs. loves shoot'n handguns, longguns not so much. Tak'n the HCP course soon as the weather warms up. She's done decided on purse carry, ( no, I can't talk her into body carry) so I got her a holster purse for Christmas, she loves it. It's got a lockable zippered compartment for the built in holster. She likes that in case she sits it down, will keep nosiey eyes out. She has 2 guns of her own and my guns she likes to shoot are "ours" haha. It's all good.:D Check her photo on TGO Facebook.

...what have I done?

You've narrowed the gap between the self-preservation mentality, and the victim mentality in the woman you love.

I'd say you've done the most honorable thing possible.

Even if she does kinda look like this guy...

12. (f) Have you ever been adjucated mentally defective (which includes having been adjucated incompetent to manage your own affairs) or have you ever been committed to a mental institution?

Glad she likes it. Now go spend money.

Are you talking about MY wife? LOL Pretty much the same situation for me. She had one handgun when we got married, now she refers to all of them as her's. Well except for the ones for our son. :D

Krull,

Good on you and the little missus. Hopefully she will never have to use a firearm in self defense, but at least she is getting the tools to help in case there is ever a need.

You'd be best served setting it up as a trust at the rate you're going. I predict that by the end of 2010 your house will look like Burt Gummer's in Tremors.

Getting my wife into shooting with me and the first gun she points out that she wants is a $1000 HK, lol. Told her that was a bit much for a starter piece so she stepped down to an $800 Glock...... Shes got taste for sure.

What was on that Glock that made it $800?

May not have been a Glock but it was in the same case. I threw Glock out there because she was looking at them too. The shop we were visiting is WAY overpriced compared to most everything else I've seen. In any case she's got expensive taste, lol. Honestly I havent been back and dont really plan on it since I found another place to look thats not asking me to saw off a leg to make a purchase.

Dont ya know it had a lazer and flash light on it with a ghost trigger and 30 round magazines.

Sweet! I'm putting an ACOG on mine.

Boogieman, I think she'd be well served with either a Glock or XD, but I would definitely shop elsewhere. Or here on TGO classified. Anyone not a benefactor should become one...its for the children.
