I've never seen a "Match Grade" RIA other than on the Armscor site, I'm not sure if they import it...

As for the RIA Tactical, it's worth every penny, very nice balance between being tight enough to really be accurate, yet loose enough to actually run (which isn't always true of many 1911's no matter what they cost). Bellshire Hardware in Nashville on Dickerson Pike usually has 'em for around $430 or so, don't know how you can beat that much gun for the money in a 1911.

I bought a tactical last year. Very nice gun for the $. The only thing I didn't like was the plain black sights, which I have recently replaced with a set of Fusion 3-dot adjustable sights.

I haven't seen a Match anywhere. If someone has one I'd like to see it just out of curiosity.

I picked up a rock island 1911 tactical from bellshire about a year ago, it has the nickel finish. It shoots everything I have fed through it, 1000 rounds or so without issue. A great value for the money. I think the match gives you upgraded sights, hand fitting and dehorned slide/frame. They seem to be pretty hard to find, buy both! I've got a RIA Tactical... Shot the heck out of it, then went through it with a Clark compensated match barrel, Cylinder and Slide internals* and Wolff springs and it's a 100% reliable naildriver that can best 1911s which cost 3x more. Personally, I would never buy an expensive 1911 unless I just wanted the name.

+1 I like the way you think! Yesterday I talked to a dealer that had a two tone RIA Tactical and we worked a trade for a Walther I had. Then I found a RIA 1911 Match on the Net today and it should be here next week.

Also thanks for the great link

Match > Tactical

More gun for the buck, over cool.

We will see. I picked up the RIA Tactical and should get the RIA Match next week. So far the only down side to the Tactical is the sights. A set of 3-dot combat sights (for these old eyes) would have been nice. Other than that the RIA 1911 Tactical is a great gun for the price.

Santa got my son a Clark Custom comped barrel for XMAS

and it made his RI 1911 a fine shooter. I may be looking

for a rock next time.

I just picked up my RIA 1911 FS Match, the extra $$$ over the Tactical is money well spent.
