added weight

i noticed that the stock on my remington sps was hollow, i decided to see how it would feel with some wheel weights in it.....and i really really like it! i added 16 ounces, yep, 16 ounces! it makes the gun balance really really well. i know that adding a full pound to a gun makes a big difference when you carry it through the woods but i am going to try it. i liked it so much on my 243 i also did the same thing to my 30 06, but i only had to add 15 ounces to get it to where it balanced. has anyone else done this before? likes, dislikes if you have done it? i prefer a heavier gun as it helps with felt recoil, and i am able to steady the gun for better aim.
