well sorry to add to my own post, but i am like a kid in a candy store on this site. what about the glasier blue safety plugs. with the #12 shot (i think there are a couple more of this type on there diffrent brands) what about this shell in general? sounds interesting for my 45's and 38's as well (if they come in those cals)

doing a little research looks like glasier has :Muzzle Velocity: 1350 fps

Muzzle Energy: 587 ft lbs

5.0" test barrel

and extremeshock has :Muzzle Velocity: 1150 fps

Muzzle Energy: 543 ft lbs

these are in the 45 rounds

They are decent "safety" rounds if you live in an apartment or something.

Personally, I want a round with good penetration.

I talked to the owner of the company who makes these. They sell them on hype as if they are super-killer rounds. At the time, I was head of a military society and he was going to send me some rounds to test. When he found out part of my testing was ballistic gelatin testing, he withdrew his offer.

See http://www.extremeshockusa.com/ for the P.T. Barnum sales job.

For 380 ACP, I like Hydra-Shoks and FMJs.

The rule is: there is no magic bullet. The smaller the caliber, the more critical shot placement becomes.

Someone told me, look what people who carry as part of their professional lives use. You never see them using junk like this. The Glaser safeties were developed for use in projects. If you plan on spending time in a project where you might have to shoot, that isn't unreasonable. Otherwise, no.

Hornady, Speer, Winchester, Cor-Bon, and Remington have extensive facilities to test bullet design and research budgets. They probably know more about bullets than all of us combined. I would tend to trust them to put out a product that works well.

I have personally done a test with dry( wanted to do wet) phone books taped together with a .357 sig roung of the extreme shock fang face.... Even though I have only done one test with it against winchester SXT, Remington sabers, and federal hydra shocks, I prob wont spend anymore money on the extreme shocks!!! The extreme shock round went through the furthest of the 4 rounds through the phone books and did not open up what so ever.....to me seemed pretty much like range ammo with its chances of causing/making an exit wound

but like I said, I have only done one test

First time I have read the BOT http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot23.htm pages on Extreme Shock rounds. Pretty good overview and it confirms my experience.

As far as expansion of the rounds, they are designed for certain conditions. Specifically expansion in body tissue. Dry phone books is probably not a fair test. I've seen a 9mm Hydra-Shok go through an oak chair bottom without expanding. The penetration was obviously good, since it went through about an inch of wood, but that wood also prevented normal expansion that would have occurred in soft tissue.
