Carry permit in Maryville

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question. Im in Maryville (blount County). Any of the members here that live in the area know if you fill out your application and get finger printed for the HCP at the local DMV or do they send you to the Justice center for fingerprints? The wife and I are going to Farnsworth in the morning for HCP class and I would like to get through the paper work asap at the DMV. Any info would be great.

im not familiar with your county, but you can pretty much bank on the fact that they will NOT fingerprint you at the DMV

Yeah, it's all farmed out through independent vendors, like UPS stores, and part of the $115 goes for that. Most, if not all, are done electronically.

I've read here that you can go to sheriff's office and have hard copy ones made, but there may be a charge for it, not covered from the HCP fee either; AND it can slow down the issuance process in Nashville.

The DMV will tell you where you can get fingerprinted when you fill out app and pay, and it's sent from the fingerprint vendor, you don't have to go back to the DMV, the fingerprint data is sent in with your HCP app number best I remember, so don't lose the receipt.

I thought there used to be a list of the fingerprint places at TNDOS site, but don't see it anymore.

You will need to go to a full service DMV first and will need either a birth certificate (not a copy) or a passport, along with a the form from your handgun safety class. They will give you instructions for the finger printing. You will need to call the number supplied to get the finger printing approved, then go to a finger print location. You will need your drivers license there. I think Gunny's Indoor Range is the only one in Blount County. Then the waiting begins. Good luck!

Ok cool, I do appreciate the info.

The wife and I passed todays hcp class as I expected we would. She had all the questions and one was asking the same as what my thread is all about. She got the same answers there too. I guess I will take some time off work monday and head to the dmv first thing in the morning and take it from there. I just pray they dont send me to gunny's. There is not one friendly face in there. Thank you all again and have a great day.
