Anti-gun people keep talking about the mentally-ill getting firearms, but I am betting far more killings happen from people who get arrested after using a firearm and then get off super light.

Another question is, what exactly falls under mentally-ill? My SIL is bi-polar, but she is far from violent and I certainly would trust her with a firearm, but I bet she would be reported to the system.

It is my understanding that unless a judge issues a judgement that someone is mentally ill there is no "official" record that will be viewed by anyone doing a background check. That seemed to be the problem in AZ as no one (friends, school, neighbors, parents, etc) had ever brought his actions and mental state to the attention of the court system. He passed the AZ background check.

Or just commit crime in general, crime this and off light, crime that and off light, until they kill someone. Macville you are so right.
