Place to shoot AR-15 in Memphis?

Hello all,

I'm getting an AR-15 built in a couple months, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me of a place I'd be able to shoot it in .223. I checked with Range USA and they will not allow me to shoot .223 except on Saturday night (with a 3hr window), and I "have" to use their ammo. That is not an option for me because of the cost of their .223 ammunition. I plan on doing my own .223 reloads to save money on the cost of ammunition, so I need to find a place locally to shoot. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion TNDixieGirl. And thanks for letting me know aobut MSSA saintsfanbrian. I just wish MSSA wasn't so expensive. The membership there for a year would pay for my reloading equipment "and" some supplies lol. I really wish the range out in Shelby Farms was still open

I can't - and won't - speak for Range USA, but I know I've asked before about them expanding the Saturday 6-9 hours for AR use... Each time I've brought it up, I've gotten the sense that if the demand keeps growing, those hours will eventually be expanded. I know that they've got more personnel, too, over the last several months.

As I'm sure they explained to you, the frangible ammo is about not destroying the bullet decellarator (sp?), and you have to buy it from them so that no standard ammo is accidentally shot on range.

I agree it's not ideal, but it seems to be the only non-MSSA option in Shelby County for now.

I asked the guy at Brighton Arms if you could shoot it there, and he said yes. Not only can you shoot one, you could rent one from them too. Machine guns too.

Brighton Arms rents machine guns? You mean I don't have to drive all the way to Knob Creek any more? Woo Hoo!!!:woohoo::drool:

Just called, all they rent are 9mm autos.:woohoo:

Don't know what I was thinking considering it is an indoor range.

Still might go down tomorrow, my son would love shooting a full auto.

Thanks for the info TNDixieGirl.

Are you talking about calling Brighton Arms?

I was just in there this morning and he even showed me the one they rent. My son was the one that brought it up is why I remembered to ask. I was puzzled and said "You mean shoot it in the range?" And he said yep. I'll double-check when I go back in the morning just to be sure. I don't want to be giving out bad info.

Coming up 51 North, it's about 12-13 miles further than Millington. Can be gotten to using Highway 14 North (a.k.a. Austin Peay) as well. Using 14 you'd have to wind through Atoka via Rosemark Road to jump over to 51.

If you tell me which direction you'd come from, I could try to tell you the best way. Or Google a map to:

8440 Highway 51 North

Brighton, TN 38011
