I have been looking for another project gun and after reading about some large calibers here on TGO I looked around for something different, I have stumbled upon an AR chambered in 338 federal, it pairs the 338 match rounds with a 308 case. I have read a little and the data shows a 210gn bullet will make right at 2700fps with 3,230 lbs of energy thats not bad at all from a magazine fed semi auto I can drop an ACOG on and tote into the field on a 2 point sling easily. Has anyone else had any dealings with this cartridge? anyone know any pros/cons about the round? please let me know.

My step father hunts big game with a Ruger flavored in .338 Federal. He LOVES this round dearly. For critters around here it's a bit much, unless you're talking about 2 legged bastards, but for Muley's out west it is great. His biggest gripes are ammunition costs.
