First time firearms owner. First time poster. I lucked into this rifle for really cheap from a friend and I'm looking to convert it from the lo-cap magazines to double stack mags. I also had an idea about changing the iron sights out completely that i need some advice on. I was thinking you could purchase a low profile picatinny rail for the receiver cover like this one: SCP-939 - AK47 Picatinny Rail Receiver Saddle Mount 5.625" Sun Optics USA Low Profile and then replace the upper handguard to include a picatinny rail. I could then purchase just about any flip up front and rear sight and mount them to the rails. My question is this even feasible? Would you be able to sight those iron sights in? The iron sights on this rifle are very low since it's an AK variant and the picatinny rail flip up sights would be considerably higher. I've always been under the impression that the iron sights on an AK aren't as accurate as they could be so that's why I'm looking into this option. Thanks in advance.
