Shooting more than 1 sport

Recommended Posts

Since there are more IDPA matches a month than USPSA that I can find within driving distance of me, I have been wondering if I should just stick to 1 sport and shoot more matches a month, or should I spread around the love and shoot USPSA and IDPA. I am really leaning to IDPA till I get a good handle on the rules and everything so I don't mess up.

if you just stay with IDPA for now, it will be harder when try to do the other and vice versa. we when first started shooting USPSA we had shot IDPA so long it was hard just to go thru a door for exsample without wanting to pie around the corners.

idpa shooters are easy to spot when they are shooting a different sport. a few years ago in bama my son and i were at a rifle match in bama, and my son watching this person shoot looks at a me and says 'IDPA Shooter". and yes that is were he started also.

also when we finally got a friend to try IDPA, who had only shot USPSA. he caught 9 kinds of hell, because of dropping mags, cover etc. he hated it and almost quit it. Now he is a sponsered shooter in IDPA and going right along.

plus my 2 cents is that it will make a better well rounded shooter, if you do both!
