Roofers in East Tn-near Oak Ridge

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations on roofers in East TN, Near Oak Ridge.

I have a feeling it won't be long before I need a new Roof and guttering and would like to start looking at my options.

Roof shingles vs metal roof?  I have a chimney in the center of my roof.

What if in the future I want to add solar panels?

Any ball park price ideas on say a roof that covers 1000 sq?  Kinda small house.

I had Adams Roofing put a roof on my house in Lenoir City almost three years ago.  Absolutely top notch.  Bonded and insured.  Been in the roofing business for about thirty years, if I remember correctly.  Great reputation and price was very fair.

Roofing By RLI from Knoxville did mine last fall.

I took a series of bids among about 10-12 local providers, and did interviews based on my constructing the house to begin with, my own measurements during the bidding process, and a set of Eagleview diagrams.

Trust me, before winning the bid, and during the job, I put them through the wringer.

They earned every penny, and my endorsement.

very close #2 on my list was Pankratz Construction in Maryville.

Either company will do an outstanding job for you.

Jim White did an excellent job on my roof about a year ago.  He had 9 guys and they did the whole job in 1 day, including some custom flashing that was painted to match my faded trim.  http://jimwhitebuilders.com/

Flashing around a chimney should be child's play for a good roofer.  For a basic shingle roof with decent quality shingles... $5000-6000-ish.  Double that for the nice powder coated metal stuff.

Solar panels are easily installed over existing roofing.  Metal roofing may be a more of an issue simply because it's so slippery.

It was just the flashing at the chimney had started to come lose.  It is being reattached and patched as I type this.

estimate should have at least 2+ years left on the roof.  Time enough to start setting money aside for this pending project.  When I do, I am going to go metal.

Metal can be DIY, with some tools and skills.  One of my neighbors did his rather steep roof himself.  Took him about a month, but he got it all done.  I'd get some quotes now to have a better idea of how much you'll need to save.  Thankfully mine was covered by insurance as I had lots of hail and wind damage.
