One thing I need to ask about.......

Did anyone else hear McCain talking about the mortgages and the bailout stuff?

Did I hear McCain right when he said that "WE" are going to buy these bad mortgage backed securities and the people will be able to refinance their houses at the rate that they are now appraised for? Did I hear that right? So if you bought a house for $200,000 and it now appraises for $150,000, these people are going to get a new mortgage based on $150,000. Is this also going to be a part of this bailout bill?

McCain is certainly doing better than in the first debate.

I think I like this "town hall" style better than standing at a podium.

Yah, I felt Obama 'won' the first debate, but McCain is doing much better here. Obama is stammering more...

Yeah, that'd be nice.....but times that by a couple trillion refinances. Then we'll see the gooberment back for more money to bail out more securities.

The loans would have to be "bad" at the time they were taken out. In other words, there would have to be something in the loan process that was "below table" at the time of closing that was bad. Housing values, as a whole, has dropped in value, just because of market conditions. There would have to be certain criteria, like an inflated values from a "drive by" or desk appraisal where a unscrupulous appraiser was used or no appraiser was used, debt ratio's that are were above a standard, etc. for the loans to qualify. If you bought a house, that was on a fixed rate, that was valued at what the market was, that you could afford under normal debt to income rations, then you wouldn't qualify.

In other words, he can't be talking about all loans, it would have to be loans that meet a criteria.

But who knows, they are politicans....
