Magnum Research BFR

couple of rainbow trajectory rounds when fired from a rifle... I would double check the ballistics of those out of a short barrel if you wanted it for anything besides making noise (I don't even know, just guessing it makes a hefty arc out of a pistol).

For making noise, it does not matter which one you get.   If you wanted it for some sort of hunting or long range or ???  usage, what would it be?

I shot one once, in some 400 caliber that I forget the name of.   It was too big and heavy to hold up for long.  By once, I mean one shot ... not enough to say anything at all about it except "boom".

I have always liked the look of the BFR.  I have an itch to get a BFR in 45-70.  I think it would make a great hunting gun for thick cover.

I would never sit at an edge of a 200 yard field with it but put it in a bandoleer holster and get into thicket where you have 30-50 yard shots and I think it would be great.

Smith 460 anyone?

I'm with you on that.

However the BFR puts a new spin on the old concept of a handgun and rifle with same cartridge.

No one makes a reasonably priced .460S&W lever gun. I only know of one and it's ridiculously priced. Not so much so if you were looking for a custom rifle but very much so if you just want a .460 lever gun.

I had a BFR 45-70, mostly out of curiosity. After the first time shooting with standard pressure loads, I discovered a loose, broken lower frame screw. I returned it to local gun shop who, after several months, never sent it back to get repaired. I got a full refund.
As with many things these days, another expensive product with questionable quality. Edited by biquer

Dont worry, I have that one layaway :P

Well, I currently have 3 revolvers on layaway, one of them being the 460 with 8 3/8" barrel. I was actually going between the 2 revolvers (BFR and 460) for layaway. But, the BFR is still pulling on curiousity string.
