I decided to go with the 11.5" barrel due to the research BCM did on SBR barrel lengths. Essentially they felt they were more reliable, but they go into more detail on their FAQs page. In addition I have heard that they decrease the chance of baffle strikes on suppressors which once mine is out of the penalty box I will be running one. Also some manufacturers won't warrant their suppressors on shorter barrels. I'm not saying 10.5" is unreliable but I just didn't want to take chances and BCMs research ability is better than mine.

All that said I might build a 10.5" or shorter gun that won't be geared as a suppressor host.

There should be enough room. There was a discussion about it on some other forum and a guy posted a pic of his setup which was of the exact 11" rail, 11.5" barrel length, and suppressor. The way the YHM mounts the qd is just out far enough that the suppressor sits almost flush.
