  1. i used to not like gloves (not for doing things like this but regular gloves) but nomex gloves i have no problems with. I have some neoprene palmed with fleece that have the fold back index and thumbs i like for cold qualifying days but the army isnt too keen on gloves while shooting.
  2. i cant pressurize my ears going under water... my friend is a dive instructor or rather he was. now he pilots a submarine in HI for tourists but hes always trying to get me to go dive. i dont know, i am scared of deep water.
  3. are you really shooting golfballs? with a handgun? if so at what distance? i used to shoot bowling pins from ~100 yards with iron sights on a .22 i had when i was growing up wasnt hard at all id imagine golfballs would be tough.
  4. what did franklin's vote? i have no idea who it is as i have only voted in the presidential election lately.
  5. dont keep it open. tmk that will wear out your spring. and to brian, i was a rifleman and automatic rifleman so i never had a m9. i never had an ad either though.
  6. i like that comp. you described. I miss shooting on a regular basis and im really glad i joined here.
  7. I guess once I get my hcp Ill see how it works after I have time carrying for awhile. ATM I just think im to much of a novice with hg to feel comfortable going 0. Give me an M4 and Id do just fine though.
  8. imo its more likely someone else be attacked and you be able to assist than being attacked yourself. so charging the weapon wouldnt be a problem especially if you move to cover first. i dont know maybe im stuck with how we were trained. we patroled with safeties on at all times and flipped them when we needed to fire and since we always did it that way we knew what to do automatically. we also didnt stand there firing we got to cover first. i think ill carry in 3 regardless of how the rest of you feel. i know that i will be able to load it but then again i think its more likely that someone else will be the victim than myself and i could be in for a rude awakening.
  9. im guessing condition 3 is loaded mag but not charged?
  10. i may do this just for when i go to visit my family in south knoxville. i go for three days at a time usually. but the one off john sevier... is it in close to like chapman or way out towards straw plains? my mom lives by doyle hs is why i ask.
  11. wewt! ill be at both after all. i invited my F-in-L and if he cant make it he said i could bring his 1911.
  12. well hmm, i think i just sunk that thought because those are 9 mm
  13. is it a P38 variant called the P4?
  14. we had guys take showers with their m4's but that was frowned upon shortly after i got there and was stopped.
  15. exactly what i was hoping to hear tbh frank. im still in a parachute rigger unit here in nashville for the reserves even though im a pog now. although we have a couple of cib owners in the company including one new plt sgt from 5th group who started his career years ago in our company then went active. hes deployed atm but should be back soon. when i was in iraq i worked with the a team he worked with in fallujah. ive been trying to get us to do some more infantry related training. we have like 50+ things we are supposed to cover during training throughout the year and most of it could be done in a single 4 or 5 day field problem if planned right. when sfc blue gets back he'll prob be our first sgt and i think we'll be able to get it to happen.
  16. i dont guess i used this format. ill do it now. Daniel from knoxville live in franklin. my interest's would be tactical shooting as that is what my bg is in but im a bit rusty. by this i mean transitioning from rifle to hg, doing reflexive fire drills and the like but not having an ar type rifle im not able atm. i am about to purchase a g19 and i own an old shotgun of my grandfathers. the wife has been pretty adamant about not having guns in teh house but i finally convinced her it wouldnt be a problem after i let it slip i had that one in the closet for about a year and no one had been killed. i have been going to on target with my father in law as he has a .32 beretta i forget the name and a kimber 1911. id prefer to go to an outdoor range or someone with land that lets you shoot as that is what i always did back in knoxville. anyway i think that covers it.
  17. Hi, my name is Daniel im from knoxville. i was in the 101. my wife is from franklin though so we stayed here. i was an 11b and now im in the reserves here in the nashville area as a 92a. i may get a job with metro pd if my bg check comes back all good and if so i start the academy in june. but yeah if i think of more ill add to it.
