1. http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/house/275587-10-gun-bills-introduced-in-first-day-of-the-house   Didn't see the majority of these posted here.  Thought this would be helpful for those of us contacting our congressmen and women.
2. Mine was JTMaze.  Glad you liked the reloading supplies!  Since I've never gotten into reloading I was trying to figure out what would be good and I thought you could always use extras of those if you already had them.   Happy New Years!
3. I don't see anything on the official releases about no-refusal check points.  Is the linked site legit or just one of those that likes to stir the pot on this kind of stuff?
4. Got two really great condition AK mags!  Thanks Santa!
5. Not really sure it counts as panic buying but I did order some more ammo and mags in both AR and AK flavor.  Something I've been meaning to do anyways.
6. Trigger, I would just stick with the G2 honestly.  Spend the extra money a good safety selector from Krebs and/or one of the retainer plates for the pins instead.  Its hard to argue the tech sights if you are ok with that particular setup.  On the grip, the us palm has already been mentioned.  I would throw out there the m249 saw style grips, any number of grips from Ronin's, or the magpul stuff with one of the new millet ak-ar adapters (instead of that plastic junk from ACE).  As for the muzzle device, the battlecomp is cool but I would probably suggest either the PWS one if you want it to look fancy.  If you just want it to do a good job then just get one of the '74-style comps for the 47; will be hard to beat in the comp and FH categories.  Especially considering the price difference.   http://www.roninsgrips.com/Home_Page.html   http://slrrifleworks.com/products/AK-AK-Billet-Grip-Adapter
7. I have setup a wish list on amazon.com that is shared to the public. If you go to amazon and then wish lists (usually a link over near the top right of the page) you can search for my user name "Viscero" and you should get a result for a "gun stuff wish list". These are small items that I would be into just to give some inspiration to whomever my secret santa is. BTW this is free and totally awesome service by Amazon.
8. Will probably be middle of Dec. for me as I have to travel for work the first week and a half.
9. First and foremost this needs to be HER gun and HER decision. If you ever feel that you are having to press her for the answers to these questions then I would back away from the situation. Stocking another caliber shouldn't be a concern as this is someone else's gun and caliber choice. I understand about wanting to keep things simple but If it winds up being another caliber then that is just part of it. If she earnestly wants to get a handgun then the first question that should be very easy for her to answer is, "What is it's intended purpose"? Most of the time this will be self defense. Once you both know the intended application the next best thing to do is take a Saturday or Sunday and go to a gun show - one of the larger ones in your metro area that will be sure to attract lots of handgun dealers and not the ones trying to sell some old rusted junk along with their collection of bottle caps from the '40s. Take your time and let her go table to table and pick up/examine every possible choice there is. Ergonomics, weight, trigger length, overall feel of the gun will be of the upmost importance and should be considered first. Most makers design a certain action or style of gun and then fit it to at least three or more calibers. Find the ones that "feel" the best in her hand first then worry about caliber. Once you have the list narrowed down to the ones she likes the best call around to the local ranges and see if anyone has any of those in their rental rack. Alternatively you could try meeting up with folks here from the board at a local range that may not care to let her test fire a magazine or two if they happen to own some on that short list. Whatever you do, do not buy before you try either the same model in a similar caliber or the exact caliber in a similar gun. Otherwise you end up with something you will have to resell or worse, something that she hates that will not get the job done if needed.
10. Saw on the news this morning that metro is holding one at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church on Nolensville Pike.. Reward is a $25 gift card to dollar general. Could be a cheap way to pick up some nice ones.
Thanks for the kind words. To my regret I actually filed for unemployment today. My previous job didn't pay well enough for me to have any sort of real savings, and I will need every bit of help I can get until I start working again. Luckily my family is very supportive and is going to be there for me if I need, and I will be trying to do as many little odd jobs on the side to suppliment myself until I can get another full time position. I do have 2 decent job leads that hopefully will work out, one of them might involve an overseas project for a period of time - but I am going to look at it as a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am not married, no roommates currently, no kids - just a dog and 2 cats. If I end up going oversees my dad has already stated he would take care of my dog for me and we would just move the valuables out of my house and put it on lockdown. It is definitely going to be an interesting next couple of weeks...
Pack up and move to middle TN. Way more tech/IT jobs over here than east TN; Knoxville was my hometown. East TN seems to be more gov't/defense and energy related IT where as middle TN is more education and healthcare related IT. There are tons of listings every week that get delivered to my inbox from career builder, indeed, etc. As long as you know your stuff and could move you should be very able to get a IT job down this way.
14. bought a new car radio a year ago that has bluetooth built in so that my phone syncs to it, can make calls from it, etc. best hands free I've ever used.
15. will go for some mags and ammo. money is tight right now but my wife and I have agreed that if O wins a 2nd term we need to start stocking up a little at a time before he goes off the deep end on 2A stuff.
16. This and here's one more - http://ammoseek.com/
17. A very nice M1 Garand + ammo OR Maybe a Vepr in 7.62x54r w/ 20-23" barrel plus mags and ammo and new furniture from Ironwood designs. At least those are the ones on my list in that price range
18. When are they opening that store?
19. Believe you need to turn off "auto play" to get to what you are desiring. Also.. 1.5gb of ram?!?! It's been at least 5-6 years since I've owned/operated anything with less than 4gb of ram. And that was back in the 32bit XP days. People really need to drop a few dollars on their PC every couple of years or so - sheesh! If you were really expecting win7 to run under such minimal resources you need to look into a copy of win7 basic 32 bit at most.
