It must be the fault of guns... since humans are basically good

That's what I would think too... or perhaps an aftermarket car alarm. I've seen examples of both wired in ways which would make an electrician puke and cry. Check where these are connected first. I've also seen one bad bulb short out an entire circuit, even if the bulb itself was still lighting up... and, as mentioned above, condensation can many-times cause this (corrosion, etc...).

I am very grateful for your father-in-law's tremendous service to our country... such sacrifice will never be forgotten. My prayers are with all of you.

I agree that most aren't. It would become a fight for individual freedom, and not so much for collective freedom, since so many people are willing to sacrifice liberty for security... They do not deserve my blood. But I am willing to fight... And if I was the only one, I still would be. I deserve my blood, and the choice to take the risk of it being spilled for a cause I believe in.

There have been a number of intermediate rifle/carbine models crop up in the last year or so... The Sig 556, Magpul Masada, and Robinson Armament XCR. I want my personal armament to keep up with these developments. Gas-piston bolt actuation being the main difference between these and the venerable Stoner AR direct-impingement system... The Sig 556 is the only one of these 3 which I am seriously considering, mainly because the 55X series has a long and reputable track record for accuracy and reliability. It is also the only one which uses a long-stroke gas system (like an M1 Garand or SKS), which increases reliability, and negates the need for a separate forward assist. I have handled the gun, and know that the controls will work for me... I want to hear any opinions from those who might have some experience with this platform. I will be abandoning my AR15s for whatever I choose, even though the spare parts commonality is a plus (the only one though, really). Thoughts? Criticisms?... (I give enough, I can take it )

H&K makes exquisite firearms... I just wish that they weren't priced so outrageously (kinda like high-end 1911s are marketed). I have handled and fired several USP variants... Very nice. I have been eyeing the P2000 series since they hit the market. I want a .357sig Variant 3. I also want a G3 clone (PTR-91KPF). I hope to aquire those by this winter.

I have come close to taking 3 out with my car in the past week... One was a healthy tom, I almost tried for him, but I'da had to swerve part-way off of the road

I think I'll chime in... On fighting our government and military through civilian resistance: - It has indeed been shown in other conflicts that a primitively armed, well-organized group of people can cause heavy losses to advanced units with more training. But, I have two contentions with this line of thinking... - 1. The greater there is a technology and armament gap between opposing forces, the more an 'underdog' needs to rely on stealth and unpredictability. They cannot go head-to-head. All that an occupying force needs to do is cause a standoff, meanwhile cutting off vital supplies to the resistance. If the resistance is not nimble, and cannot pare down the opposition quickly through attrition, the occupiers have effectively won. The only way for a resistance movement to have success without superior or equivalent weaponry, is to take out the leadership... If the leadership is un-touchable, then the only way for a resistance force to stand up to a military is to have heavy weapons, or the ability to effectively destroy heavy weapons. So, with this in mind, the outlook for being able to 're-take' the US from a tyrannical government is grim... at best we could hope to hold our own, to be thorn in their side, with only small arms. - 2. The need for private, unrestricted ownership of military-style equipment is based mainly (in my mind) about principle. Humans have a RIGHT to self-defense, and historically have been required to defend themselves from over-bearing 'official' entities which were threatened by 'revolutionary' concepts of liberty, and attempted to squash them. The 2nd Amendment directly addresses this, in wording and intent. Gun-owners are the ultimate check and balance keeping the government at bay against the brink of tyranny, and in that regard we should be able to back that obligation up with the means to actually perform that function. So, it is not so much about resistance strategy (yet)... it is about clinging to the undeniable principle of liberty set forth by those who outlined this experiment for that very purpose! When we completely lose that right, it is already too late to fight for it within the constraints of the present system. The DC gun ban has fallen... May more anti-liberty strongholds fall in the same way! The legal/political system is a battle-ground unlike any other, one which cannot be approached lightly, or have any assurance of victory... I look forward to a SCOTUS ruling in favor of 2A, but I'm not holding my breath either. Though it would be a solid step in the right direction.

I'm a magician too... I turn money into ammo, and then make the ammo disappear!

Absolutely beautiful weekend! What did you do to enjoy it?
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Took the T-tops off and increased my carbon-footprint for a few hours in a vehicle which is not fuel efficient at all... For no other reason than because I wanted to. Met some good people in the 'boro, and collectively vaporized a large amount of gun-powder, in order to destroy non-recycled paper targets whilst creating considerable noise pollution. Watched TV... Had some folks over to play poker... Went over to my dad's and helped him do his brakes... and some other stuff... -
EAST Tenn. TGO members interested in a ______ get together?
molonlabetn replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
Chattanooga... ...That's certainly within driving distance for me -
Hmmm... A Glock with a decocker, and better ergonomics perhaps... Sounds alot like a Walther P99AS... I want one of those! The differences that make me want a P99, are the same differences which cause me to reject Glocks. That about sums it up. I would even prefer a P99AS to my XD (especially if available from the factory chambered in .357sig).

Relative to whom? What are you trying to say?! [molonlabetn] [/molonlabetn]

Emphasis mine... That's the important part! I've still got to get my new wife's car paid off (wife is new, not the car )... And then the house, but I'm certainly with 'ya!

Not to diminish his service... but if the addage "...Always a Marine" is true, then it can only follow that Murtha never really truly was...

The 2 who had problems where cops using duty weapons. They weren't G34s or G17L versions, and they weren't ported. The FTF wasn't a dummy round (since it did fire once in battery), and the FTE couldn't have been a dummy round. The misfire probably wasn't, since none of the other shooters had dummy rounds mixed in with their ammo. I'm not saying Glocks aren't just fine weapons... But too many people over-hype their 'perfection'.

To be quite honest... If a rag-head says that he wants to put a 'jihad' on me, I'd probably drop him. I wouldn't know if they have a bomb or something strapped to them... And I wouldn't want to wait and find out the hard way whether or not a threat like that is empty!

I could never guess who you listen to on the radio... Congrats! Less debt + Budget = More liquid funds to buy guns with!

I watched the Front-Sight Challenge yesterday... 4 contestants, all with Glocks. 3 of them made it to the 2nd round, which consisted of running a course while shooting at falling steel silhuettes. 2 of the Glocks puked 3 times (one misfired AND I think FTF, in seperate instances), the other FTE. Each contestant had 2 magazines... 3 failures in less than 60rd is not what I'd call 'reliable'. Glock 'perfection'??? Well good grief... if they can't even run properly on TV... I was laughing so hard that I'm sure it was harmful to my health!

Range session: On-Target, Murfreesboro. This weekend?
molonlabetn replied to molonlabetn's topic in Events and Gatherings
To everyone who came... It was great meeting you! Confirmed in my mind what a great group of people we have here. Tungsten, Southpaw... you have a beautiful family. It is so awesome that you all go shooting together! Hornet, Lil'shooter... Great to meet you, I very much enjoyed the meal-time conversation! ProguninTN... Excellent to finally put a face with the name, a couple years (and, as you said, 3 forums later). Your dad is good-people, in my book... tell him to not be a stranger. Mike... I don't know where I was when you popped in to say 'hey', sorry I missed you and didn't get to introduce myself. We had most of the range to ourselves, so we all spread out and had a very enjoyable time for about an hour. And even though I was stuffed with a huge burrito from Moe's, I managed to put 250rd of .357sig downrange with my P239... and kept them on paper... Southpaw let me fire a few rounds through her MP-9 Compact... SWEET shooting little pistol. I think I still prefer my XDs, but I'm glad to see that another manufacturer finally got it right, as well! I look forward to our next collective outing! To everyone who was unable to make it... I hope that circumstances permit you to join us on another occasion, you won't regret it. (just be careful how much guacamole you put on your burrito...) GT, best wishes for a speedy recovery! I've considered having that procedure for some time now... Let us know how you like it. demon, I'm sure that was tough... To me, the saddest thing in the world is when a child is taken from it. I'll be able to go shooting again in a few weeks, after my camping trip, and the Busch race in Nashville... I'd be interested in an outdoor range, since it's so nice out. I'll catch you on here or give you a call. Peace, -
I help to cause expensive equipment to crap out, in creative (and sometimes spectacular) ways.

New (< 500 rds) Ruger 10/22 jamming problems
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I'm still saying... It's probably the extractor. Ruger is good about addressing problems, I'm sure they'll sort it out. -
I'm coming... and so is my wife.

I've been waiting for a long time... (seems like).
