Shooting Sports ... Match Reports???
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
I haven't yet made it to an event in Manchester... but their event scores & such are listed here. There are some pictures in other areas of the site. http://www.midtnshooters.com/Scores.htm When I finally get to make it out there, I'll take some pics and give a review. -
Bump!!!

I personally prefer the hogue overmold stocks (had one on my M500 before I sold it), and the Speed-Feed IV stocks (have one on my M590 right now). The Hogue shoulders better. Nothing, IMO, beats the factory pistolgrip stocks which come on the Benelli M1-S90, M1014, and M4... Perfect fit for me. I'd love to eventually own a Benelli 14" M4 Entry SBS...

TGO only Fighting Pistol course in Camden TN (May 26-27)

must..... not.... partake... in..... the.... madness...! Argh! Oh well, everybody's gotta vent sometime... And goodness knows that we all have put our foot in our mouths more than once, even if not here. I sure have. We're all here for information, and to give our opinions about it... sometimes that information makes us look good, and sometimes that information makes us look bad. Sometimes the information is skewed or incorrect. Sometimes the information is documented. I don't mind a bit of sparring... it's a good way to find out where everyone stands, so long as we can keep from having blind tantrums and closed minds. Heck, I don't even care if those who think that I'm an idiotic ass-hat tell me so... This is just the freaking internet. I really enjoy keeping in touch with the few people from here that I have met, and those who I intend to... all good guys (and gals). I think we each already know who are our friends, and who aren't. But for goodness-sakes, this is not the place to make enemies. saintsfan put it really well... the only thing I would add, is that the PM system is a great tool for resolving issues without creating unnecessary drama... Some spats shouldn't take place on the board where the public can read it. This is a great site, let's keep it around... not denigrate it to the level of PDO. -
I feel just as sorry as him... Bravo!

Hmmm... I think that you should sell the gun to me for $600, so that you can get you money out of it. I'll dispose of it properly Seriously... Hang on to that pistol!!! Don't modify it in any way, don't have it overhauled... just have it cleaned, appraised, and prepped for storage. Get yourself a safe-deposit box. That sucker will only go up in value.

I just did a screen capture (print screen), and then cropped the image. I'm no anarchist, I detest drug users (though, like guns, drugs are harmless until abused), and I share few, if any, of the more liberal leanings of the libertarian party... but the many issues surrounding a large, intrusive government sickens me, and none of the other parties cares so extremely about those crucial points. Very interesting results... good idea Hyaloid!

TFA meeting time has been changed to 7pm per e-mail received from John Harris. Otherwise, it is a 'go' as-planned. C'ya'll there who can make it! -
Welcome, glad you came over

yeah... we're 'winning'... the sad thing is that there is any argument at all. Until the existence of evil PEOPLE can be eliminated, there will always be stupid PEOPLE who blame inanimate OBJECTS for their deeds... and let the evil PEOPLE back out into society, on parole, amongst the now-defenseless law-abiding population. There will always be things that are hard to understand, but there is nothing so appalling as blind, mis-placed oppression in reaction to a problem which no 'ban' could prevent. These lemmings have convinced themselves to trade liberty for false-security, and personal-responsibility for dependence on an increasingly tyrannical government... The only possible reason for this mentality can be a lack of resolve to do their own dirty work to clean up society, they want to pay an elected band of thugs to do it for them. These are socialists bent upon locking America in its own prison, and giving the government the key.

They're probably the ones who think that CNN reports un-biased facts...

I sent Mr. Harris an e-mail asking him to confirm the meeting. It didn't sound like he had any doubt, but in the interest of certainty I'm sure those who will be driving a long ways want to be sure (like me). I'll post any response I receive. -

That would be a good question/offer to be posed Thursday, then... I'll try to take some good notes, or even record, the TFA meeting. Hopefully we can make this less of a question of "What can we do?", and more a question of "What will we do?". But we gotta start somewhere. -

The NRA is good at moving money around and lobbying... That's what they are good at. The GOA and SAF are very dedicated and respectable, if mediocre, collectives... but neither really has a high profile impact in TN, though their presence is positive. The TFA does not have enough participation... one guy can't do much if everyone else simply looks on. I, for one, don't think that we need another separate organization to mimic these others. We need to get the people who care involved in ALL aspects of this interest, through each of these groups. That would bring these several organizations together into a cohesive unit. Presently, the many independent activities of each of these organizations do alot of good... there simply needs to be more involvement at the community level. Someone needs to organize this... and the individual organizations need to lose their pride, so that they can help each other. I am a member of all of these organizations, I don't need them all telling me how great they are, I need the job to get done, and to be given the opportunity to help. I would love to someday see an NRA flyer promoting an SAF/GOA/TFA/TGO fundraiser. This'll only work if we come together... not build more divided 'clicks'. I don't hold any solutions, I'm just another one with an opinion, questions, and a desire to do my part. -
I don't mind a heavy trigger, as long as it's smooth... The trigger on my bed-side snubnose .38 isn't any work of art, for sure, and it's probably in the 12# range... but, it's consistent, and I have no trouble dropping multiple 6" plates at 25yd with it, rapid-fire. My reasoning for preferring a higher-end pistol (as mentioned, Kahr or H&K) is more-so for the reliability aspect, as well as other qualities of their ergonomics. What you say is true... And I have no doubt that Kel-Tec products are adequete for carry, likely moreso than some other types.
-
I've handled a PF-9... it was indeed thin and light, but I dunno if I'd choose one over a P7M8!!! The trigger is true to Kel-Tec form, heavy and long... and I wish that they didn't put the rail on there (the notch is just one more thing to snag). The fact that it is pocket-carriable is nice, and the full-power caliber is nice, but it just didn't feel quite right to me... I'd probably look at a Kahr, first. It's good to know that there are a few companies who bring products to market that their customers ask for. Kel-tec is one of them, for sure.

Unfortunately, donations to political orgs are probably not tax-deductible (donations to the NRA aren't)... But donations to educational & charity orgs are tax deductible (donations to the NRA Foundation are tax deductible). I'm not sure how legal 'raffles' are in this state... but if we sold 'shares' towards a charitable donation, and then held a separate gun giveaway (funded however was deemed necessary), that should be fine... I would love to see us put together a team for the Celebrity Cancer Shoot... Let's see, 50 donations of $10 each would give us enough to fund the entry fee... 100 donations of that amount would give us enough to fund the entry fee and buy a decent rifle or handgun to give-away. We might even be able to get a gun-shop to donate, or significantly discount the gun. I'm sure that I could raise many donations from amongst the folks I know. The Friend of the NRA banquets are another good place to devote some time & money... -

That was the first thing that I did. -
I do not reload, but as I understand it, the nominal diameter of .45LC, .454Casull, and .460XVR are all .452"-.454", while the .45 autoloaders, .45GAP, .45ACP, and .460Rowland have nominal diameters of .451". I have never heard of a problem shooting .451" projectiles from .452" bores though...

I am not the organizer of this new site/org... I am merely passing the information on. I do intend to get involved, if possible from my locale.
