  1. No... it means that if the LEO finds out that you are carrying he can demand that you produce a handgun carry permit, and you must do so. It does not mean that you have to volunteer your permit during any encounter during which the fact that you are armed is irrelevant ( such as a traffic stop... speeding is speeding, armed or otherwise doesn't matter ) It is considered a courtesy to inform... whether or not I would do so depends on the circumstance, such as a situation in which I had to exit my vehicle ( traffic accident, etc... ).

    AR help

That's a nice build right there... Easily worth the asking price! Considering the sight and magazines, that would be a $2,000 rifle.
  3. It would be nice if my new AK came in by then, I might actually be free for a few hours that day...
  4. We don't need no stinkin' badges!
  5. Sweet! Congratulations! Now for the wait...
  6. I'm in the same boat... Have always wanted to get involved in something like that. I've narrowed my choices down to IDPA and 3-Gun. Now I just have to make some time...
  7. Freaking Idiot... I can't believe she is breeding!
  8. More info: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070420/nasa_070420/20070420?hub=TopStories http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=6404611&nav=menu117_3
  9. Heh... I guess in this day and age, if you can't see it, then it can't harm anything. Seeing an exposed, cocked hammer would probably make the average soccer mom's head spin... even in the possession of a LEO. It's so DANGEROUS!!!! Yeesh...
  10. I wish more everyday people thought the way he does, too!
  11. That could be a potential logistics nightmare... unless each person was responsible for providing their own ammo, mags and spare parts! Honestly... if I was going overseas, I'd want an FAL carbine and a P226 9mm. I can certainly understand the ammo prices issue being a big part of the decision!
  12. Question: What is the significance of the trend for one or two participants to be fielding Kalishnikovs while the rest have ARs? Are these groups actually issued varying weapon platforms as contractors? Or, was this a simple matter of personal preference? Forgive me if this was a redundant question...
  13. What I got from this discussion was the surprising and notable trend of gun-shop owners, employees, and even most local gun-club members are unaware of the TFA and its role in molding legislation which directly impacts them in this state. This falls similarly in line with the numerous times that gun dealers have told me that they vote democratic*, and hope for democratic* control, even if they don't agree with most of their tenets... the simple reason is, that when democrats control more government, the more afraid we are of potential losses to our rights, and subsequently their gun-sales and profit margins go up. Sick isn't it? A good thing for us to do anytime we're in a gun-shop is to ask for them to carry John Harris's red book (and ditch the 'Legally Armed' crap)... That'd be a start. I've been passing out TFA applications all day to folks who I know would be interested in protecting their rights. * no offense meant, Len... This is simply the truth of what had been related to me.
  14. There was indeed an excellent turn-out... I counted 33 at the start of the meeting, and there were a few more who trickled in shortly thereafter. The main impetus was to designate a 'leader/victim' for the Nashville Chapter (which I believe was satisfactorily accomplished)... John and Buford both did an excellent job of describing to everyone present the role and history of the TFA since '95, and the efforts which they have made since then (which we all have benefited from). These include the support of NRA-endorsed legislation, and educating Tennesseans of those changes or support which was needed to do so. John made many excellent points about what we should be doing in the Nashville area, such as meeting with legislators and educating the proprietors of gun-shops and ranges about the laws in TN and the existence of the TFA. He illustrated his remarks with the accomplishments and common activities of the other chapters, which are along those lines. The next formativ'esque meeting is going to be at the same location (A.P.P.S.) on the third Thurday of May (the 17th), where John will continue to discuss the upcoming legislation, and give us some ideas of where to start. The meeting after that will begin the new chapter president's tenure, and we will need to arrange locations, activities, and guest speakers for future meetings. I'm interested to see how involved TGO becomes with the TFA... possibly as its electronic counterpart. I hope, at the very least, that TGO can gain a stronger membership which can support the TFA in a more unified manner than what presently exists. I'll be at the next meeting!
  15. Reminds me, I need to go find a decent Polish Mak, to complement my new Com-Bloc rifle... Sweet catch!
  16. I dislike under-folders on AKs... they snag on stuff and are not very ergonomic. There is one type of side-folder which I might, just might consider: But, we'll see how the solid stock does... if it fits me, I'm going to leave well enough alone. I'll call ya when I go to pick it up.
  17. Thanks, I just ordered it and 5 extra Polish steel 30 rounders... I'm going to get some Bulgarian polymer mags too, eventually, since they're cheaper. The gun & 5 mags = $750 shipped. The 2-week wait for it to get here will probably just drag by... But it'll give me a chance to square away a case or two of ammo.
  18. He shot most people multiple times, as I understand it. Considering that he killed a majority of the people he shot, I think this is a moot point... Morbid, to say the least.
  19. 5.45x39 is actually cheaper than 5.56x45 or 7.62x39... It shoots flatter with less recoil than the 7.62 It (subjectively) hits harder from short barrels than 5.56
  20. Arsenal (Bulgarian) Vepr (no longer in business) Vector (Russian) Valmet (Finnish) Tantal (Polish) Some of the cheaper versions (which aren't necessarily 'bad') are the Romanian models imported by Century... These generally have poor fit, luckily that doesn't matter much which AKs
  21. Yah... Capital punishment and 'the war' are 2 areas which I disagree with Mr. Paul (and many liberterians). Who's perfect?
  22. Atlantic is selling those Tantals for $599... I figured that I could get it, some mags, accessories and a few cases of ammo for the same cost as just the Sig 556.
  23. Oh that'll be sweet! What make holster are you getting?
  24. Boy, did I change gears... Well, I've been dealing with Dan & Joe up at Hero-Gear in Winchester about getting me a Polish Tantal AK-74: My thought is, cheaper ammo and more proven design... And, with the money I'll be saving, I can justify another purchase I should know today or tomorrow if they can get me one.
  25. I'll be at work Sunday... Ya'll have to survive without me.
