1. I've done my fair share of reading on the aforementioned subjects to be well prepared. Thanks for mentioning it though. The bottom line is that I'm not (nor should anyone) going to allow myself or the ones I care about to become paralyzed or handcuffed about issues that I cannot ultimately control. I have to admit that it makes for great conversation. However, I know too many people who are obsessed about issues in the political world and their health is paying the price. Strange thing is that they have trouble sleeping at night worrying incessantly. This world is too big and life is too short to not enjoy.
2. I certainly understand your perspective. Applied history definitely has its place but my own economy trumps that right now. My goal is to simply amass wealth for my family and knowing "history" doesn't pay the mortgage or put food on the table. At this point in my life, I'm going to mimic what the rich and wealthy do than sit on the sidelines and read those history books. Besides, I read enough in school anyway. Time to cash in. 3. I concur wholeheartedly with you on this and I especially find it ironic how freely "commie" is used because if we truly lived under the red flag with the golden star(s) and sickle, it wouldn't be tolerated. Moving on...re: the economy. As for me and my circle, well, we aren't complaining about our "personal" economy. Inflated, overvalued or whatever phenomenon you want to say it is, the stock market has been kind to us under Obama and I guarantee you that businesses in the Dow Jones and Nasdaq aren't complaining either. If they are, well I'm calling BS. Whether the market is over inflated or not, I could careless because I Iove my Ruger, Smith and Wesson, and Taser International stocks, hint hint and bank account is loving it more. I'm so freaking glad I didn't listen to the chicken little tin foil nitwits out there. I guarantee you that the people who hang on every word of the scare-o-ticians are probably afraid to invest because of the so called "uncertainty". Well I'm here to tell you, scared money don't make money. Long live capitalism and the stock market!!!
4. Found this: Heather Whaley prank calls Senator Bob Corker to Advocate Gun Control http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3170462 From my GSIII using TPR
5. Good post OP. She also has a website heatherwhaleyusa.com We should all hit up her site, particularly in the about section and expose her for the bogus fraud she is.
6. This talk of impeachment, arrest, etc, etc sounds like another trick filled with smoke and mirrors to distract and divert our attention. From what, Bengahzi, the ACA...? Who knows. If proceedings were ever held, it would be an utter waste of time, resources and more importantly money, especially when the POTUS can wipe it away with a swipe. Heck, the effort and brainpower used by the posters in this thread is probably more energy that this issue will ever see. Another reason why this won't see the light of day is because a lot of the Congressional members have dirt (not necessarily criminal) on their hands and the last thing they want is some type of retaliation against them or another member in the party in the future. Is that right, of course not but is it gangster political reality, absolutely!! With all the talk of how NSA is doing this, that or another thing, all it would take is an NSA "hero" /"leaker" to drop a few personal emails, voice mails, etc on someone they politically disagree with and bam, here we go again. They should be working on a budget, period, and stop being distracted like elementary school kids who have ADHD. From my GSIII using TPR
7. +1,Exactly. Supporting the black box is highly counterintuitive to the fight for liberty.
8. +1, Although my buddies and I didn't complain too much under Clinton when our investments begat money that begat our toys. Ahhhh, those were the days...
9. +1. Newsflash!!! The chicken littles changed skyfall to around 2016, sometime near election time when the POTUS declares martial, marshal, or marital law.
10. +1, also in the mix were Dr. Harry Laughlin, Dr. Adolphus Knopf and certainly last but not least Dr. Clarence Gamble of Proctor and Gamble fame. From my GSIII using TPR
11. The vast majority of us know that a race war is just a racist's wet dreams and is not going to happen. Depending on the source, the number of Blacks who died as the result of the transatlantic slave trade is estimated between 1 to 2.5 million. Taking the Klan factor out of the equation and going with the low estimate of 1 million, I know that a million Blacks are not killed by other Blacks within the span of a few years in America. I agree with you that socioeconomic standing plays a key role into this whole "race" thing and there are those who profit from fueling the "race" fire to make themselves relevant. Bottom line is 99% percent of us want our children to succeed and communities to flourish which makes for a better Country. Now, how we get there from a political perspective is a totally different topic.
12. Who are these so called "Puppet Masters" of whom you speak? People tend to throw that term around loosely without any reference. So, are you talking about The Illuminati, Bilderbergs, Council of Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission or other? When it's all said and done, both wings are part of the same bird. It's all smoke and mirrors.... From my GSIII using TPR

14.
That this is even remotely a serious question shows how broken the Republican Party is. :shake:
+1 here. It's quite obvious that the Repubs are badly fractured. They could learn a lot from the Dems. For example, regardless of their internal bickering, they know how to coalesce and become one when the cards on the table whereas the Repubs act like separate parts of a whole. I live in a pretty politically diverse area and when election time rolls around, I frequently see the Dems out in the neighborhood knocking on doors, can't say that about the Repubs. For whatever reason, many Repubs feel like people should come to the party instead of the party going to the people. I think if they made minor but significant changes, they would have better results. From my GSIII using TPR
15. Tone or no tone, there are some people who would cast their vote for the Motor City Madman. To each his own... From my GSIII using TPR
16. I tip my hat and hold up a glass of Guinness on your acceptance. Cheers!! B)
17. Ted Nugent for President?? Laughable and spending any thoughts on this exhibits delusions of grandeur. Take your meds and wake up people. From my GSIII using TPR
18. Highly unlikely based on the tax structure. The vast majority of stadiums are financed through hotel occupancy and car rental taxes. Some are financed via bonds; food and beverage taxes; sales tax or on ticket sales. From my GSIII using TPR now Free
19.
From what I understand it is or was Harry Reid's job to present a budget to be voted on. He did not, why is he still in office? If I don't do my job I get reprimanded, enough write ups and I am out of a job. Double standard with the elitist politicians!! They don't have to do anything but suck the blood out of the American workers. Listen very closely, do you hear the goose stepping New Nazi's??
The reason why he is still in office is because the voters in Nevada have evidently been satisfied with the job he has been doing since 1987. Love him or hate him, Reid is a powerful force in Congress. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
20. Ha ha ha ha. Many do live in the downtown Memphis area on the bluff and other areas (Mud Island), it's called "gentrification". I know what you meant though :) Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

23. On your first point, neither you or I know what would happen to those companies business structure if the contracts went away. Supposition is not reality. On your second point, you are exactly right about the goods the government receives, that's a given. However, not only do companies (some, not all) receive "breaks" but they charge jacked up prices/rates for said goods and services which in turn cost the taxpayers. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
24.
Those businesses would be a lot better off if they were providing their services to entities that made their money by providing valuable services to society and not by extracting it by threat of force. Their taxes would be less too.
Seriously?? Well tell that BS to the restaurant owner who sells food in an area for the employees of a defense contractor who provides critical mission support for the military or how about the handicapped people who work for the Goodwill and their contract is to help clean up in and around Federal facilities or better yet, the blind people who run snack shops inside a Federal building. Last time I checked Haliburton, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, General Dynamics, Honeywell Raytheon, etc all provide critical services and are pretty significant but perhaps I'm wrong, but I highly doubt it. Moreover, I don't hear about any private companies complaining about the Federal welfare aka subsidy they receive to help run their businesses, Google, Ebay, Yahoo and PG&E just to name a few. 25.
Broken window fallacy. Even if you grant that some proportion of the government has a valid, productive contribution to the economy, the vast, overwhelming majority does not. The money used to pay them is much better left in the hands of the people who earned it. As the the effects of this shutdown, just look at how government has grown and grown and grown and grown over the past 50 years. Life worked back when government was already just too big, it's hardly surprising that life goes on when a tiny fraction of what there is now is sent home for a few days. The blame game is pointless also. It doesn't matter who's to blame, it's what the best way forward is. That's to put people in place that understand that smaller government is better. Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible in the current climate.
Interesting perspective. I'm sure that the small businesses that are located in the areas where fed workers are affected will have a different point of view. As for "life" going on, this so called "shutdown" is not true on its face. I guarantee you that if the air traffic controllers, law enforcement, firefighters, meat/produce Inspectors, military, and other essential personnel were truly shut down then the landscape would be entirely different. Not to mention the SSA and VA checks being stopped. At the end of the day (rhetorically speaking), government will resume its normal duties, life will move on, people will continue to talk about how big government is and how disgusted they are about the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare. These politicians are what they are.... Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
