1. Let's be honest here. The POTUS, Democrats and Republicans are all to blame for the shut down. None of their hands are clean and all are acting like stubborn children. As far as the price tag is concerned, it's my understanding that federal workers salary is part of the GDP. Therefore, no pay means no contribution to the U.S. economy. Think of it this way, if all of those employees spent a minimum of $10.00 on lunch per day then that's money out of the economy i.e., business owners etc. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

3. Interesting post. Thanks for the linky. Unfortunately, the IRS is here to stay in some shape, form or fashion. There are only a handful of countries that do not levy an income tax and they are mainly in the Middle East where the income is derived from oil and a couple in the Caribbean where income is generated from the enormous amount of money that is hidden there to escape taxes. The Communist Manifesto must have been a big hit back then because principles regarding education, transportation, banking, agriculture, manufacturing, and land confiscation (imminent domain) have been used by the vast majority of the countries in the free world today. For years upon years, people have been screaming and yelling that the the sky will fall because of the implementation of some policy, passing of some law, or election of a President. When I woke up this morning the sky was still there, my balance sheets looked great, and my guns were still oiled and ready to rock. The USA is the greatest place on the face of earth and it's shameful that the rest of the world thinks we are a bunch of fat, lazy, consumption whores and you know what, to a certain degree they are right. Off soapbox now... Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

6.
Yep, it cost us taxpayers less, also.
Since the implementation of the Fed Reserve, we've been paying out the arse for decades upon decades. Different story for another day. Those 28 days or so in 95 and 96 were a blip on the radar comparatively speaking Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

8. Courtesy of wiki: "A 2010 Congressional Research Service report summarized other details of the 1995-1996 government shutdowns, indicating the shutdown impacted all sectors of the economy. Health and welfare services for military veterans were curtailed; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stopped disease surveillance; new clinical research patients were not accepted at the National Institutes of Health; and toxic waste clean-up work at 609 sites was halted. Other impacts included: the closure of 368 National Park sites resulted in the loss of some seven million visitors; 200,000 applications for passports and 20,000 to 30,000 applications for visas by foreigners went unprocessed each day; U.S. tourism and airline industries incurred millions of dollars in losses; more than 20% of federal contracts, representing $3.7 billion in spending, were affected adversely" Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

10. A government shutdown in theory sounds nice and dandy and might even affect some positive change if it were to occur for a few days. However, I doubt that it would happen very long, if at all, especially when so many people depend on SSA and VA benefits, not to mention the air traffic controllers in the FAA, and meat inspectors, so on and so forth. The "leaders" are not going to risk it and any talk before October 1 is merely grandstanding. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
11. Not sure if you were using the app store app or the store app, but I grabbed a couple of screen shots and didn't see that about the camera. I know the store app uses the camera for barcode scanning. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
12. From my perspective, if Sams/Walmart put your wife's company out of business that would be more detrimental to your livelihood than shopping at Costco a few times a month. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
13. I wholeheartedly recommend Costco over Sams any day of the week. If you have an executive membership you get cash back every year on all Costco purchases, 2% I believe. When you combine that with an American Express Business Card, you get 4% back on gas, 2% at restaurants, 2% on travel, including Costco, and 1% back on other purchases, including Costco. If you are credit card savvy, the membership easily pays for itself and you'll receive 2 cash back checks per year, one from Costco and the other from Amex. There are very few places nowadays that don't accept Amex so that's not even an issue. The quality of their goods is great and the return policy is excellent. Good luck Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

17. The "refusal" sounds good in theory but highly unlikely since troops take an oath to defend the Constitution, in addition to obeying the orders of the POTUS. The troops will not leave themselves open to the possibility of Article 90, 91 or 92 in the UCMJ. We certainly have no "war" business in the Middle East. Those countries have been around since the beginning of time and the way they are governed has worked for them before the USA was even a thought. Why can't we be the spectators sometimes and use that money to take care of our own. Without a doubt we are not privy to a lot information but this doesn't make sense... 18. It's widely known (well, maybe not) that Putin stages his macho photos for Mother Russia so who knows. Russian Kool aid is slightly sweeter I suppose. http://bit.ly/17OMul0 Whoever said it's like comparing Urkel to Chuck Norris was slightly off. It's more like saying Urkel to Matt Damon since all of the BS is fake. At least Chuck's arse kickings weren't staged. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
19. OP, reading your posts reminded me why so many despise Winblows. I know I'm beating a dead horse but if you have the means, MACS are definitely the way to go. Since they are Intel based, just about all of the software that works on Winblows will work on MAC. The learning curve is not steep because everything just "works". And if you ever decided to use Winblows again, MAC allows you to partition your hard drive so you can install Winblows and dual boot into either one. In fact, it pretty much holds your hand in the process. Maybe one day you will post on how great your new Apple is. Best of luck Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

22. Kids cannot go home and play? Seriously? Since when? Oh I forgot, the idiot box (tv), playstations, xbox, and the wii's of the world are preventing that. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
23. To the OP, congratulations on getting your job. It sounds like you don't shop at the mall very often so in that particular case, especially when you needed/wanted some nicer clothes, you should have handled your business there and went about your business. Only you would know. But I do applaud your principles and hope you found your nicer clothes. There would be an initial uproar if Walmart ever posted and very little impact on their business. I suspect many boycotting would feel the effects of not shopping there pretty quickly. Wyldk2, you would quit working there even though you need a job? Well, I hope those "principles" are good at paying the bills and putting food on the table for you and/or your family. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17

25. For that immediate area, try either Holiday Inn Express or Hyatt Place. At either location, you will be close to the Opryland Hotel and the Mall. Sent from my GSIII using TPR 3.17
