I bought a used 14 gun sentry this weekend. Seems pretty decent. It looks like you can't change the combo without taking the lock apart, but that is just guessing on my part as there is very little documentation on line. Mine is not a fire safe, and it looks like you could probably pry it open with a little time and the right tools. But then again I just bought it to keep out the smash and grab crackheads. I have only had it for a few days, but don't regret it at all so far.

I didn't look at them closely. The crate was open behind the table and I just glanced it over, didn't want to tempt myself too much.

I strolled through Saturday afternoon. I was surprised to see a lot of empty tables, not sure why. There was a crate of Mosins for $109 to $119 apiece. If I had the money in my pocket I probably would have bought one.

I like RT Clapp on Oak Ridge Turnpike. When I moved here I asked around and several people mentioned them. They have done some work for me and I thought they were reasonable and fair.

I vote for bullet setback. Check some of your reloads and see if you can push the bullets in with your thumb. I can't see how that one got pushed in that far from the kaboom unless it was not crimped good enough. If the last one that fired was pushed in like that by the feed ramp I am sure that would be a contributing factor.

I would try again. I have heard it both ways. One buddy told me that if you go into UPS with it boxed and the ORM-D Small Arms Ammunition label on it they won't even blink, but if you look confused they may think you are not 'qualified' to ship it. On the other hand my father-in-law just sent me about 10 boxes across country. He walked into UPS with it in the factory boxes and the guy behind the counter boxed it up for him and applied the stickers. I would try another place or a different time to get someone else who is more helpful. Almost forgot - I think the earlier posters were talking about 2 different things. 1. Don't tell paypal that the money is for ammo. 2. Do tell the shipper and have it properly marked.

I got one off ebay a while back. There are guys on there that custom build them. I got to pick direction of guns and stain color. I think I paid about 80 for a 8 gun rack.

Not to derail the thread, but why don't these sites list the serial numbers of stolen guns? I would rather have the serial number of my stolen gun displayed than provide the serial number of every gun I want to look up to a stranger. I know these guys are good intentioned, but it seems like they are going about it backwards to me. Sorry to hear about the theft. That sucks.

From the website with the worksheet: So if by conversion you mean that you are just changing the mag size and not changing to pistol grip/folding stock you 'may' be ok. When I heard conversion I was thinking AK style pistol grip.

To use standard capacity mags you have to get the imported parts count down to 10 or less. According to the worksheet you are starting at 14. A US made mag counts as 3, so if you replaced the stock you would be good to go. Now the problem is that you can't use imported mags, only US made mags. To legally use any AK mag you need to replace three different parts with US made parts in addition to the aforementioned stock. People typically replace the trigger, hammer, and disconector. Play around with the worksheet a little. Once you understand what it is doing your options will be more clear. btw I believe that you will find that replacing these parts is a lot easier than doing the actual conversion. ID

My daughter just inherited a 22 like that. Browning calls it the 22 Semi-Auto rifle. It is a neat little gun and can be taken down into two pieces if the scope mount is not connected to the barrel and the receiver. I can't tell on yours from the picture. It looks like a Grade 1. Current MSRP for a new grade 1 is $659. You can find the date of manufacture by checking here: 22 Semi-Auto Rifle The serial number on ours is on the bottom of the barrel in front of the stock. It might be just me, but I usually buy used guns because I can get them for a discount. If I have to pay almost retail I will just go to the store and get one that I will always know that I bought new. As far as I am concerned there are three kinds of guns, new, used, and junk. Yours is definitely not junk. I would want to pay 60 to 80 percent of the retail price. Of course if you don't need to sell it you can always go for 200 and see if you have any takers. Everything is for sale, if the price is right.

Risky I think people, me included, were confused by your use of terminology. The process whereby the empty shell is pulled from the chamber is called 'extraction'. The rim of the cartridge is gripped by the 'extractor', a small hook that is held tight against the side of the rim, and it is pulled to the rear with the slide. Ejection is when the empty case is pulled to the rear to the point where the leftmost side of the base of the shell hits the 'Ejector'. The ejector is fixed to the frame of the pistol and pops the empty case sharply to the right as the slide travels to the rear. When I responded earlier I thought that the case left the chamber but caused a malfunction because it did not get out of the way for the slide to return forward. The problem as I understand now could be related to ammo, dirty chamber, or extractor problems.

I just read this thread the other day and this morning I was reading and article in the January American Rifleman. A Korean War vet was recently reuinited with the exact rifle he carried for a year in Korea. The serial number? 1622xxx

Sounds like the shell is coming out of the chamber, so that would rule out extractor problems. If the shell exits the barrel but doesn't eject then the slide is either not going back far enough to hit the ejector, or it is not going back hard/fast enough. This could be caused by -dirty gun -not enough lube -limp wrist -weak ammo -recoil spring too strong -mag spring too strong Sounds like you got cleaned and lubed covered and didn't mention changing springs so probably ammo problem.

I agree with above posters. My cousin had a DE 50 and it would misfeed every other round when he shot it but worked fine for me. I think you just need to hang on tighter. If the gun moves too much in your hand you won't fully compress the springs and the empty may not eject or the slide may not move back far enough to catch the next round. Another test would be to have someone else fire them and see they act differently. As far as lube goes I used to have a buddy that would say your 45 should spit oil in your face when you shoot.

Check out AR15.com. They have a build forum with tons of information. I had a great time building mine. I think you will enjoy it. I am a little confused, but if you are saying that you will be shooting long range with a scope then get the A3. I would get the A3 either way and if you don't want to use a scope put a rear sight on the rail. For the most part caliber is determined by the barrel and the magazine and the lowers are the same. They make lowers that are marked "Caliber: Multi". I like that idea because you can put different uppers on it and the markings will still be accurate. One exception is when you get to 308 uppers. They require a different lower because of the longer case length. Others may disagree, but I think a lower is a lower, and I am not as concerned about the brand of the lower as the quality of the parts that go with it. I think if you live in Winchester you have one of the best resources right in your area. I have not been there myself, but friends who have recommend Hero Gear.

Why would you have to leave the ammo outside?

I think you can swap out the barrel and shoot 380, although from what I have been hearing lately 380 isn't exactly easy to find either.
