Why are pickup trucks so expensive?

I have pretty well decided to keep my current truck, unless I stumble upon a smoking deal. -
Why are pickup trucks so expensive?
TripleDigitRide replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Some people can easily afford those vehicles. But like I try to make my daughter understand, some can't REALLY afford the new vehicles they're driving. She doesn't quite understand why I go to work everyday and drive a 14 year old truck, while the parents of her friends live in the projects and drive brand new Chargers, Mustangs and Yukons. -
According to a friend who lives and breathes RC planes, yes, all unmanned aircraft from 9 ounces to 55 pounds.

Right! One thing's for sure, people don't stay home anymore. How do people pit that kind of mileage on a vehicle? -
Why are pickup trucks so expensive?

No, nothing wrong with it. It runs well, and I've kept it well maintained. The only real concern is that the mileage is getting to the point where I'm concerned about taking it on road trips. I could rent for those sort of trips, though. -
Why are pickup trucks so expensive?

I've never bought a new vehicle. I bought my current truck five years ago for $8000 cash. It's a 2002 Ford F150 XLT with an extended cab, 5.4 liter V8, and an automatic transmission. I'd like to find a newer version of it. It had about 90K miles on it when I bought it, and I've averaged about 20K miles a year since then. It's been a good truck, but with it pushing 200,000 miles, I get nervous about taking it on an occasional road trip. Based on the price tags alone, I highly doubt I'll be buying new this time around. -

Man, I'd love a new(er) Platinum. However, the $40K - $50K price tag is more than I'd like to spend. That almost sounds like another mortgage payment. -
My truck is closing in on 200,000 miles, so it's about time to start looking for something newer. Current prices are even more ridiculous than I remember them being when I bought the truck I have now.

I'm not quite sure if this is only for "drones", or all unmanned aircraft, such as airplanes and helicopters?

Please help identify this Ruger Single-Six

Well, none of this really matters now. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Thanks for the input, OS! -
Please help identify this Ruger Single-Six
TripleDigitRide replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Handguns
Yes, I have read that "super" indicated adjustable sights. All I know is what I've been able to find via Google searches. I think my description is pretty accurate, but I wanted to double check. -
Before I put this up for sale, I want to ensure that I'm able to accurately represent this Ruger Single-Six. I honestly don't know much about it. Based on what little research I've done, I believe it is a Ruger Super Single-Six with a 6 1/2" barrel that was made sometime in the 60's. The last three digits of the serial number are engraved on the cylinder (22 Magnum), so I also believe it is a "convertible" model. I am still searching for the .22 LR cylinder. A partial serial number is 5610xx. While most of the wear you see in the pics is there, I swear the "wear" you see on both sides of the front sight post is not there. I can only attribute that to the lighting. Am I on or off base here? Thank you in advance for any input.

Yeah, I hadn't heard of this policy anywhere until this evening.

Joe, Do you instruct the HCP classes?
-
Is there a policy/rule/law/restriction that forbids the use of a speed loader for a semiautomatic pistol during the HCP class?

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/12/11/taurus-owners-take-note-class-action-settlement-is-available/ "If you own a Taurus handgun, you will want to read this post. Recently, Iowa deputy sheriff Chris Carter brought suit against Brazilian firearms manufacturer Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. for a defect in their handguns whereby the weapons could potentially fire when dropped. Those who own Taurus handguns in the following models may be able to, if they wish, receive compensation for the weapons as part of the settlement reached between Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. and the lead plaintiff."

Heads up about the owner of Shooter's Depot in Chattanooga
TripleDigitRide replied to Junkstack's topic in General Chat
With sites like Armslist, GOC, and the zillion Facebook groups that have been created for the purpose of buying and selling firearms, I can't help but think that a gun show would be one of the last places a felon would go for purchasing a firearm. In the end, all of the above mentioned sources will fall under any possible "gun show loophole" legislation. -

I'f I'm cooking a turkey in the oven, it would have to be injected. I'd buy two bottles of either of these: http://shop.tonychachere.com/creole-style-butter-17-oz-p-21707.html http://shop.tonychachere.com/creole-butter-jalapeno-17-oz-p-21706.html The biggest drawback to oven-baked turkeys is the fact that they tend to be way too dry. That is what you're fighting against. -

I've had some very good smoked turkey, but having a choice, I'd almost always choose a fried bird. I marinate mine over nice with a Creole Butter injection, and a Cajun dry rub under the skin. It's a lot of work, and sometimes a bit messy, but damn are they good. -
I've got my own complaint about a local shop, but it has to wait until It'll have to wait a day or two.
