Ok, now that I got what I consider to be an AK variant that is more than sufficient to suit my needs, I'm looking around at AR's so I can hopefully find one I like. I think I found it. It's the DPMS Panther Bull Sweet 16. Someone here on the forum built an AR that looks similar to this one. But something like this is what I want. I like this type of stock, the flat top upper, and the bull barrel. Any input from the masses? Any advice or experience with this rifle? It looks pretty sweet to me.

Abailey, Here are the pics of the my holsters that I mentioned. Notice the wider clips on the Crossbreed. Notice the cut away leather around the grip on the MTAC. From what I understand, Crossbreed can cut away more leather from around the grip and you can get wider clips for the MTAC, so I guess it's pretty much a toss-up.

There used to be a good one called City Cafe in the bottom of the Super 8 motel @ I-24 & Harding Place. It's changed hands now and I don't know if it's still any good.

Not every gun nut. I skipped the SKS and went straight for the AK-47. I started to, but common sense got the better of me. Doesn't happen very often.

Abailey, As of Monday, I now have both. I personally prefer the Crossbreed and here's why: 1. The leather covers more body area. They do have a smaller leather backing to make it more shaped like the MTAC, but you have to tell them you want it combat cut when ordering. That just makes the grip stick out past the leather backing. 2. I like the wider clips of the Crossbreed. The belt clips on the MTAC are not half the width of the one on the Crossbreed. 3. I like the fact that you can get the Crossbreed holster in black. MTAC only comes in natural or tan color. 4. The Crossbreed just feels better to me. Since the leather backing of the Crossbreed is thinner, and not doubled like the MTAC, it doesn't seem to bulge out as much when worn. This is strictly just my opinion. I have both hosters and will eventually use both, but for now, I'm sticking with the Crossbreed. I carry my Glock 30 in it. The Crossbreed was originally for a much bigger gun (Ruger P345). With a heat gun, I shrunk it down to fit the Glock. I'm gonna post some pics for you this weekend when I get my internet working again at home. Watch this thread.

August 2008 middle TN meet and shoot - Pick a Date

I'm going to Owl Hollow the day after tommorrow (Saturday the 9th) if anyone wants to meet up. I gotta go in the evening though because I got goat-roaped into helping with my wife's yard sale Saturday morning. Hopefully, I can shoot the VEPR and maybe the 22LR. We'll probably shoot the Bersa and J frame also. I also hope to go on the 30th. -
Did I miss something? How do you delete pics from your photo gallery? Thanks, Brian

I'll have to look for that.

Where is it and how much? Wolf seems to be the cheapest I can find?

The LSN add made it look alot better than it was. I dont know what the Tapco stock was for, but its not a VEPR. I'd probably give it away at this point. The pistol grip is ok, but again, not for my rifle. There wasn't even a hole in the top of the stock to mount it to the gun. It must have just been sitting together for photo purposes. Maybe I can find a part number on that stuff somewhere and if somebody wants it, we can make a deal. I need ammo.

According to the girl I spoke with at Robinson Arms, those guns were $599 in '03. The distribution deal fell through, so they don't sell new ones anymore. If you find one, the going price seems to be about a grand according to her. She said that if they start distributing them again, the price will probably be about $850. Think I'll hang on to this one. Now, on to an AR...

Told you it was worth the drive.

Found it on www.golsn.com A guy had it in Smithville, TN. It was well worth the drive.

Those Sig 9mm on AIM surplus are under $300 I believe. Magic Carpet Ride here on the board bought one. Most shops will do the transfer for you for around $25 or $30. Good luck.

I agree for the most part, however, I do chose to open carry when walking my dogs because if a BG jumps you or more likely Bad Dog gets loose and comes after you, you will not have the element of surprise. You will be the one surprised and you better be fast on the draw or be prepared to get bit or mauled. My wife has to walk them by herself at night and I want her to get the HCP so she can open carry at night walking them also. I'd hate for her to get jumped or bit because she didn't think she needed a HCP or needed to carry. This is a crazy world we live in and you never know what might happen.

I just got a Russian VEPR RPK AK-47 today. I'm so excited. I really like this rifle. I feel like I hit the lottery or found a pirate's treasure chest. It came with an extra telescoping stock and pistol grip, 2 30 rd mags, 4 20 rd mags, a mag loader, and a hard plastic rifle case. I need to pick up 1000 rds of 7.62x39, 2 40 rd mags, and some wood furniture to stain Russian Red. Before you ask, I don't know what kind of FCG it has or any other specifics. I'm new to AK's and don't know much about these yet. I hope to learn alot from y'all and the folks in the AK forums. Without further addue(sp?), here are the pics.

Toot's in Smyrna's cajun wings are great. In Antioch, Mr P's hot wings are great flavored. Much better than Hooter's, but no good scenery.

I think the downfall to the Kahr is the mag capacity compared to like a Glock. I used to have a Kahr CW45 and traded it for a compact Glock 30 .45 mainly just because of 6 rds in the Kahr compared to 10 rds in the Glock 30 or 13 rds if I carry the Glock 21 mags. However, the selling point to the Kahr is the slim profile and small size. That also contributes to them being a little more snappy. Every gun has a purpose though and if you want a 9mm for easy concealment and don't mind the lower single stack mag capacity, the Kahr is a good gun. If you don't mind something a little thicker with more capacity, the Glock is a good choice.

As some friends of mine recently discussed this subject, you might want to carry the number of a lawyer you would want to use in the case you have to use deadly force, because chances are, you will likely need legal representation.

Just don't get the Jalapenos with Salmonella.

The wife and I went to 5 Guys in M'boro yesterday. I was a little disappointed. I certainly didn't think it was any better than Fat Mo's or Red Robin, but just as expensive. JMO.

Good idea. Let's get all our wives (spouses - for the ladies) legally armed.
