    Packing Heat?

Mars, look at the little license symbol under his avatar. That says he has his HCP does it not?
  2. What's the point in carrying if you don't have one in the chamber? Only TV show cops have the need to rack the slide before using the weapon.

    Packing Heat?

Where did you take your HCP course? They should have explained all this to you. That's the problem with alot of these economy HCP classes or prior military service pistol qual HCP class exempt situations. Nothing personally meant towards the original poster because I'm glad he's asking the questions to educate himself where his HCP instructor failed him. This just proves the point I was making in another thread. Good job on educating yourself TNelson. There are lots of knowlegeable folks on this forum. Welcome to the group and hope to see you at the September meet-n-shoot.

    Which would you buy?

+1 for the XD45 over anything on your list.
  5. These are some of my favorite tough guys and problem solvers.
  6. Only problem is Quiznos would take much longer to order, wait for food, and sit and eat. By the time the last guy in line got food and seated, the first guy there will be long past ready to go shoot. A buffet style establishment seems to fit our agenda a little easier. IMO
  7. That really looks like a large frame to be a 22 cal, but I guess it is probably about the same size as a Ruger Mark ?, but it looks larger with the accessory rail and all. My wife REALLY wants one for a range gun of course.
  8. 6 weeks and 3 additional weeks is only 9 weeks. 90 days is 12 weeks or there abouts. No law broke there. However, it was 8 days after the 90 when it finally came.
  9. True, they are obligated, but how many would actually take the time to or care to look up the laws? I went to tech schools and was on ship with a bunch of Marines that only knew how to kill people. I don't know how some of those guys get through everyday life, but they could shoot or fight hand to hand. Alot of them would not care to look up laws just to save said $50 HCP class cost. Maybe they should let you take a written test along with you miilitary range quals and let you skip the range portion which was personally my favorite part of the HCP requirement.
  10. Sounds like I need to move to Alaska. I love the no crime and no crackheads thing. I better stock up on ammo. 30 days of night.
  11. Me and Mrs Shima look forward to seeing everyone and having another great shooting get together. Gotta keep working on my 50 yd VEPR plinking.
  12. You can call, but it's not going to do any good. They won't even take your call seriously until at least 6 weeks. At that point, they told me about the backlog and to give it 3 more weeks then call back. Until I was at 90 days, nobody would even give me a status report. It took 98 days to get to me. Some have gone much faster, but at 16 days, you might as well hold your horses and keep doing the walk everyday.
  13. Just because you can hit what you aim at doesn't necessarily mean that you should skip the required HCP classroom and boring videos that everyone else has to watch. I don't personally care, but military range quals do not teach you TN state laws reguarding carrying a firearm.
  14. I sold a Ruger SP101 for $375 to another TGO member. Yours was probably close to that at $340+tax. I'd say that's fair. Great deal on the Glock BTW.
  15. Roll Tide!!! It looks good right now. I grew up in Glencoe, AL just outside of Gadsden. My sister is a 2 time U of A grad ( sales/marketing & elementary education). I've been watching Alabama since the days when Ray Perkins coached. The Tide will be national champs again soon. It's hard to be a Bama fan around all these UT fans in middle TN. I was able to serve up a bunch of shut up juice last October though. That was fun. Whenever somebody started running their mouth about LA Monroe, I simply replied 41-17 Roll tide Roll!!!
  16. I'm still waiting to see all the Obama accomplishments. Keep your change!!!
  17. Hunter, I don't have a pocket carry holster for my J frame, so I can't say much about printing through pockets from personal experience. I only have OWB rigs for mine.

    What a socialist commie!!!
  19. I vote for the Glock 26 or 19 given your criteria. I like the 9mm over the 40. JMHO.
  20. J frame has my vote. I like my little airweight revolver. I had a KelTec and didn't like the long trigger pull. Try both. I'm sure one of these guys that trust their life to the Kel Tec would bring one to the shoot and let you try it out. I know there are some J frame guys that will let you try them out. If the Kel Tecs can't be found, maybe that tells you something. Try both and see what feels natural to you. You alone have to live with it, not all these poll opinion guys. (myself included) I've already made my choice and never second guessed it.
  21. That is a funny joke. I've heard it before.
  22. Moving targets? Whoever hits the guys in blue wins a special prize? The South IS gonna rise again!!!
  23. Again, TGO just seems so much better. No offense.
  24. I don't think so. Maybe we could call it IDPA and all the other really cool stuff that has to do with handguns and long guns both hunting specific and EBRs that we like to shoot and use to exercise our 2nd Ammendment rights. Wow, that'd be a really long name for the website. Maybe we should just stick to TGO. That's my .
  25. Leave your flame thrower at home Loki!!!
