Dave, I don't entirely disagree with you, but that "discretion" is one of the very real reasons why the public doesn't trust law enforcement. Unfortunately, I think it is a very good reason to not trust LE. One rule for the public; another rule for LE. When should I "trust" that the laws should not be applied equally? Sorry, I just don't buy that. Again, I'm a friend of LE, but I see the double standard as corruption. I can't buy it. There is just no rational need for it, as I see the situation. Everyone needs to be subject to the law to the same extent. Speaking directly, I see no reason that all of the laws, including speeding, should not be applied equally to absolutely everyone, including fellow LEOs. That's not to say that speeding should be rigorously enforced. I suspect that if that happened, there would be a lot of top LEOs voted out at the next election. But that should be another topic. -
Tennessee law -- ammo storage, homeowners insurance

My safe also doesn't have a pass through, but I guess I could drill one. But the Remington is designed to be regenerated for a few hours (plug it in , plug it in) then replaced in the safe. Really not a permanent connection device. Per your edit. I got mine from a gun shop. I thought it was sexy enough for a purchase - plus they were going out of business and I got a great price. -
I think more people should do that, but it probably wouldn't cure their paranoia.

A lot of those fire retardant safes also have a gel in the walls that keeps releasing moisture. If you are going to store anything in there that will rust - like a pistol??? - you need to put in a desiccant of some sort. Just recharged my Remington plug-in desiccant thingy last night. http://www.remington.com/products/accessories/storage_&_safety/model_365_mini-Dehumidifier.asp -
I also dropped all the "paper" papers. I love my RSS reader. But I think we get into trouble trying to tell the media what they can print or broadcast. I don't think that will fly. But that doesn't mean we have to provide them with data. We can close the records. And people can sue them for publishing information that leads to attacks and burglary.

Getting to know each other: What do you look like?

That's what I was thinking. This is about 15 years ago wearing my Ninja outfit with a clip in the black rifle. Yes, I was goofing off. -

BlackHawk Serpa Holsters...........

Too much BlackHawk stuff is made in Vietnam for my taste. YMMV. -
Actually my story is the opposite of yours. I did see a guy load 9mm into a 1911 magazine and try to fire it. Fortunately it did not fire, but the whole 9mm cartridge did fall out of the barrel when the trigger was pulled. Try it sometime.

I also found the XD-9 sub to be a more natural shooter than the G26. That's not to say the G26 can't shoot well. I discovered that I had been compensating for the Glock ergonomics, The XD shoots more like a Beretta, Ruger, 1911, etc.

More and more everyday as I learn more about them.

I'm not an atheist or anything, although I am close - I'm a Methodist. But I think you need to set your religion aside when making law and not insist that code be made according to only my (or your) religious beliefs. We have a lot of voters not far removed from the witch burners of Salem, IMHO, and that's scary.

They are probably thinking of that piece the TV station (I think) did that found that some felons were able to obtain a carry permit. But that didn't come out very well in the paper. Besides how many people can get a list of the felons and packers and compare them? These bills probably came about because of abuse by the media. Lots of politicians don't really like the media, so it may pass. If not, I suspect it will be because the language needs fine-tuning. Adding the felony penalty for the press publishing info was probably not very smart. The press folks will sue and I suspect the courts may be sympathetic to them.

I carried a couple of Glocks and the XD for a while. I no longer consider them to be sufficiently safe. But the XD is better than the Glocks. In addition, I prefer a gun with more options. That's why I only recommend handguns that can be de-cocked and re-cocked or DAO handguns for carry. The best have a hammer.

Back when I lived in Raleigh, I much preferred to go to places like the Cary Tavern or Checkerboard lounge rather than a restaurant to drink. Back in those days you couldn't buy liquor by the drink, so you had to join a club and brown bag. The end result was that you drank a lot more than if they had liquor by the drink. Yeah, you occasionally had to step over someone bleeding on the floor to get to the bar. Those were the good old days.

Well, I had an XD-9 subcompact and liked it. In fact I liked it a lot more than my G26. If this is a fun gun, I'd highly recommend it. I can't tell you anything about the SR9. If it's a carry gun, I don't recommend striker fired guns at all these days.

That's what I was kinda thinking. But anyone knows that Webster's is superior. DICTIONARY WARS!!!!! But at 16,000 pages, the OED really is the heavyweight. Actually I'm kinda' a Dictionary nut. I have a number of them. my 1840 Webster's Unabridged talks a lot about one being skilled in Roman law but does mention "One whose pursuits are those of civil life, not military or clerical." My 1867 Webster's Primary School Dictionary of the English Language says, "One versed in civil law; one in a civil capacity." And "Civil" is "Pertaining to a city or state, or to society; courteous; polite." I'm staking out a claim to the 1840 Webster's and OED. My earliest and my most authoritative dictionaries. I guess language is a living thing - the way the Constitution is a living document and subject to change at the whim of legislators or the judiciary... or yankee (small "y") dictionary writers. -

I'd suggest reading your policy very carefully. That's always a good idea anyway. BTW, your policy doesn't need to be where it will burn up in a house fire. And most "fireproof" safes aren't, if the fire goes on for more than 10 minutes. They are more like inept burglar retardant. -
