http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/19/armed-furniture-store-owner-fights-back-would-be-robber-in-indianapolis.html An Indiana furniture store owner turned the tables on a would-be armed robber last month, pulling out his own firearm and forcing the suspect to bolt. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect walked into the store and spoke to owner Doyle Stinson on the morning of July 5. Police said the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded money. Stinson said he gave the suspect $10 from his wallet, but the man told him: "I know you've got more money than that because this is a business." The suspect then marched Stinson to the owner's office and the back of the store. "Once he gets me back to the back room, that was a mistake," Stinson told Fox 59. "I go back here, I hit my silent alarm emergency button." Stinson told the station that he knew the would-be robber's gun wasn't loaded. When the pair got to his office, the store owner grabbed his own .40-caliber weapon. The suspect fled the store. Stinson took aim, but didn't fire because he saw a boy in front of the store and was concerned he would be hit by a stray bullet. Read more.

A Bowie/Fighter headed to Texas...
Grand Torino replied to Grand Torino's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I have several knives to finish in the next month or so and then I'll be making 3-4 of this same blade in different materials and woods. While they will be the exact same blank they will appear totally different. Upon completion I'll post them up and give you all the opportunity to get one with and without a sheath just in case some of you want to make your own or sub it out to someone else. We are probably lookin' at 5-7 weeks from now unless the missus keeps adding stuff to the honeydew list. -

Source for blade steel in Knoxville/east TN?
Grand Torino replied to Under-No-Pretext's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I have two.....one is from Beaumont Metal Works... https://beaumontmetalworks.com/kmg-belt-grinder-packages/ and a homemade version of the same one. I have several arms set up with a small wheel attachment, one with a 10" wheel and other smaller sizes as well as a flat platten. I find having additional arms set up ready to go eliminated tedious time having to reset all adjustments and reconfigurations. Just pull one arm out, insert another and go. -
Source for blade steel in Knoxville/east TN?

If you want known steel check out New Jersey Steel Baron on line. Excellent selection and been using them for years. As far a local I can't help but maybe check out scrap/salvage yards for leaf/coil springs as if done properly can make some excellent blades. Good luck and can't wait to see some of your creations! -
Army's new machine gun will blast like battle tanks
Grand Torino replied to Grand Torino's topic in Long Guns
Whenever they get it done I want one.....just sayin'. -
http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2018/07/19/armys-new-machine-gun-will-blast-like-battle-tanks.html The Army’s new weapon will look like a light machine gun, but will put M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank-style blasting power literally at the fingertips of U.S. soldiers. The new light machine gun will weigh less — and yet shoot farther. It should make U.S. soldiers even more lethal and enhance their speed and mobility while improving their safety in future combat. he Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle (NGSAR) may replace about 80,000 SAWs (the M249 squad automatic weapon). The well-known and loved M249 SAWs were already beasts — now the Army’s light machine gun is going to get even more powerful. Armed with the NGSARs, soldiers will have the confidence of knowing the new weapon can be relied on for stopping power against sophisticated adversaries who arrive to fight in advanced body armor. The aim is for the NGSARs to fire bullets at pressure levels similar to those achieved by tanks when they fire. Rounds will smash through advanced adversary body armor even at a distance, allowing soldiers to accurately shoot while maintaining a safe distance from the threat whenever possible. Read more.
