    Revolvers!!

My wife and I fight over the Bearcat...it is one of the best .22 revolvers made.
  3. The P345 is actually a pretty sweet shooting gun...if you are using it only at the range I would stay with it. Having shot both I can say this without shooting from the hip (rimshot) ...SHTF - XD is a more proven gun that can put out a lot of heat fast and reliable.

    Smith.. 642

+3 /HOWEVER...$20-30 will grant access to literally hundreds of different grip options for a round butt J-frame. Can easily turn it into a very fun shooting, confidence inspiring, compact carry gun. You think the 42 is bad...be glad you didn't rent one of the 12oz .357 guns.
  5. Good to know....I guess that drives home the "sort your brass" bit. I don't do it with my .38 because I have yet to run into this, but now I know what to watch for if it does happen.
  6. I use that same page also, but I bind clear sheet pocket/page protectors with a nylon binder (like the high school reports) This allows me to have a bound book and still be able to remove the pages at will. They say bound book, but they don't say that you can not remove the pages.
  7. What could be more western in a kids room than a Red Ryder BB gun!?!?! Cheap and he will be pretty surprised at 10 years old when he finds out it will actually shoot.
  8. Lol...here is one for $350 right down the road. Will it be enough? CLICK HERE Seriously...You guys have the ability to move it...might be worth checking out. That price you cant go wrong. Clean it up and resale it for a wee bit of profit.
  9. LOL....some of those guns start at $3000.00 Might be out of the range he is looking for.

Hamilton and surrounding counties was all that this guy said was certain...Nashville is a different region and you may still want to keep your eyes peeled. The real problems is that it is a liquidation of existing merchandise....once that Vanguard that has been sitting behind the glass for 3 years is gone they won't replenish it.
  11. Actually I could have got you all that you ever wanted...but they would have been $70 a box

    Ruger Mark 3

Youtube has some very informative videos on teardown. The real trick is getting that little pin to swing down and catch the mainspring nook. It is second nature after you do it a couple of times, but since it is a blind process it is daunting at first. Great shooting gun!
  13. The real question is...Were they normal prices?!?

I checked with the guy over the Southeast TN region (my father works in the Hixson store...valid source) They said that that liquidations will not come to the Hamilton or surrounding counties. ...Oof - Oh Well

Any other clearance spottings? Was it only guns or other stuff too? Anyone else's wal mart have similar deals. Will be on this like white on rice if it comes to my local wal-mart
  16. I agree...I have spent a good amount of time there too. I have to say that to me it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. They really do have that much to offer. They do have a similar situation as Illinois to where the vast majority of the land area is filled with people like you and me, but the big city unfortunately has enough clout to distort the image of the whole state. I would sell every thing I own right now (as in where do I sign) to live in Vancouver, BC for 10 years with a high paying job.
  17. I like the blackhawk pocket holser line for my J frame guns. they are small, don't print, and cost about $11
  18. The thing is that it is not a lifetime "regular" liscense but also contains WMA/big game/other benefits as well. You can not go wring with this package and are doing yourself a disservice by not getting one for your child. TWRA is one of the few government agencies that really work well and 100% of the money goes to them.
  19. Yeah...The really amazing thing is that there really isn't a definitive explanation for the problems as told by any of the manufacturers. There was in years past, but everyone seems to want to put those "developmental" years in a really deep well and pretend they never happened. That being said...40s&w is not probably the best cartridge for one to cut their teeth on.
  20. That being said the OP needs to get a C&R 03 FFL. While it is waiting to roll in study as much as you can about reloading When it does roll in get your dealer cost discounted reloading kit delivered to your door from midwayUSA and hit the ground running. it is very easy to get everything you need for well under $500 and still have a setup reliable enough for you, your children, and your children's children.
  21. It is mostly hype and not restricted to Glock... all manufacturers will say the same thing about reloads. "Don't do it or we will not honor your warranty" I don't blame them because people are generally pretty stupid in that they often prefer "trial and error" learning rather than scientific reliance on existing bodies of study. A glock, or any other hangun that "was" a 9mm but was redesigned for .40, has a partially unsupported chamber. Simply means that this is the weakest link in the chain if for some reason pressure is greater than the gun was designed for. Glock is not any more susectable to this condition than any other manufacturer...they simply produce 10 to 1 over any other .40s&w manufacturer There are many warnings about .40 S&W because there were problems with them blowing up in the past. People loaded and unloaded the same bullets over and over without shooting them (police officers/security guards/HD guns)...this caused the bullet to eventually drive farther and farther in the cartridge. Because it is a high pressure round and it has a relatively small capacity the space restriction would cause pressure spikes that would go 80, 90, 100+ cup...causing a kaboom. The solution? manufactures actually glue the bullets to the cartridge to help prevent this situation these days. It was too little to late before all sorts of hysteria about how crappy the cartridge, the gun, or the ammo could be with respect to anything .40s&w. That warning was a knee-jerk reaction because at the time no ammo manufacturer wanted to say what was causing the problem because they provided half the US police force with these guns. Self regulation and warnings was left to independant ammo makers like Buffalo Bore...which is known for pushing things right to the limis of SAMMI anyway unlike mainstream that stays 10-15% under. If your brass bulges...it is loaded too hot or the gun is dangerously unsupported beyond the initial design of the gun. This is visually very obvious, but at the same time not common at all even with Glock handguns. Simply avoiding reloading .40 because it may have been shot through a glock is being way too conservitive. Visual inspection, sorting, and quality control is priority +1 with reloading. If you ever see a blulge there is something wrong with the gun and you need to put it out of commission until you fix it. Again...it has nothing to do with Glock (I am not a fan boy/kool ade drinker either...think they are utter utilitarian snit). When brass is expanded and contracted it actually hardens...the amount that the brass bends with respect to a "short/unsupported" is minimal to the expansion that the mouth of the cartridge makes when the gun fires. Thus keeping the indication of warn out brass to neck splits...not Kabooms.
  22. You have a legal right to forcefully remove someone from your property. If you try and they elevate the situation you can proceed with said beatdown. Most people/police agree that the middle step is somewhat optional. The problem still lies that if you tear the guys ears off that he may seek civil damages...so it puts you as a homeowner in somewhat of an "all or nothing" situation. This very thing happened to my best friend not long ago. He tackled the door of his Durango with the person's leg hanging out of it. 10 or so MPH with 200# of mass I suppose left quite an ouch-ie on the BG...which ran off and was never seen again.

    Scout Rifles

My thinking is that the forward mounted scope is the most visually recognizable feature of a scout rifle, but the most important details were a compact action, very light, exceptionally powerful, and almost impossible to break under normal conditions. Cooper went into great detail to what he envisioned this gun to be like, but honestly a Marlin 336, modern AR, or most compact/youth centerfire bolt actions fit the bill just the same.
  24. Strange that an equal amount of distaste wasn't focused on the Carl Jr.'s ads having Paris Hilton or Padma Lackshmi do a stripshow in a commercial. How this is any worse is beyond me.
  25. Cheaper than dirt better make good on their title because they really rubbed people wrong for the past 6 months. Good that those parts are coming down in price...they are not really worth more than $120 regardless of who makes them.
